Video: Reagan’s Words Still Speak Volumes Today

In October 1964, then spokesman Ronald Reagan stepped into the national political spotlight for the first time with his now-famous “A Time for Choosing Speech,” delivered in support of presidential candidate Barry Goldwater. His words stand in stark contrast to those of many of America’s elected officials today, as this video by the Republican Study Committee shows.

What Happens in Vegas Shouldn’t Stay in Vegas

LAS VEGAS – Amidst a slew of liberal legislation passing Congress, conservatives have many reasons to feel down and out. However, at the RightOnline convention this weekend, hosted by Americans for Prosperity Foundation, the mood was overwhelmingly positive. From brand-new grassroots activists to veteran campaigners, the feeling was the same. Activists from all over America took part in sessions that taught tips on how to effectively use blogs, Facebook and Twitter. What Are Our College Students Learning?

The recent CPAC conference showed us that the conservative movement is powered, in part, by the students and young leaders who keep important political issues front and center on their respective campuses. A majority of the people who attended the conference were young people, and it was clear they took home a great wealth of knowledge about our founding principles, our political system and our economy. While it is certain that these students are well versed in these subject matters, it may not be true for their peers back on … More

On January 17, voters in Chile’s presidential run-off selected conservative Sebastián Piñera to become their next chief executive. Piñera, a billionaire businessman and leader of the Coalition for Change, successfully managed to ward off negative campaigning by former president Eduardo Frei, who tried to link Piñera to the dictatorship of General Augusto Pinochet. Piñera captured an estimated 52% of the vote in … More

Morning Bell: The State of Conservatism is Strong

Last night, elections were held in several states across the nation, and by most independent observations, the results served as a warning to liberals. Whether it was Republican victories in Virginia, New Jersey or even in typical liberal bastions like Westchester County, New York, the post-analysis was framed on what does this mean on Capitol Hill, and more importantly, what does this mean for the conservative movement. However, last night did not represent a new day for conservatives. On Monday, the same could have been said: the state of conservatism … More

Morning Bell: The ‘Tax and Spend’ Left are Back with a Vengeance

According to exit polls, Americans who voted last November 4th described themselves as 34% conservative, 44% moderate and only 22% liberal. One third of new voters were independents — and about two-thirds of them voted for President Barack Obama. How did President Obama win over so many moderates and independents? By explicitly renouncing his party’s tax and spend past. Specifically, Obama promised to “cut taxes for 95% of workers and their families” and enact “a net spending cut” for the federal government. Not only has President Obama failed to keep … More
