    Outside the Beltway: Illegal Adventures in Babysitting

    The Associated Press reported on Tuesdayon a letter the Michigan Department of Human Services sent to suburban mom Lisa Snyder, warning her to stop watching her neighbors’ children while they waited in the mornings for the school bus. Apparently Snyder was kind enough to do this as a favor for a few of her friends who are working moms.     The AP Fact Checks Obama

    The AP’s Calvin Woodward has an item out today challenging some of the assertions President Barack Obama made in his press conference last night: OBAMA: “In this budget, we have made the tough choices necessary to cut our deficit in half by the end of my first term even under the most pessimistic estimates.” THE FACTS: Not all credible estimates foresee a deficit halved in that time.     New Obama Style Suits AP

    Here’s one that’s a little hard even for media folks to figure. Out of the blue, the Associated Press quietly issued a new style rule that took effect at 3 a.m. Nov. 14. As a result of this 3 a.m. call, the AP will sound a more formal tone when referring to the president of the United States for the first time in its news reports.
