Obamacare was pushed into law with the hope that the more Americans learned about it, the more they would like it. That has not happened. Americans remain strongly opposed to the health law and its expansion of the role of government in their lives. The more they learn about the law, the less they like it and the more they search for an alternative, like Heritage’s Saving the American Dream proposal, that empowers patients, reduces costs, and ensures access.

Does the Obamacare Deadline Apply to Me?

In two weeks, Obamacare’s centerpiece—the individual mandate to purchase government-approved health insurance—kicks in. Are you “covered,” as the White House keeps asking in its endless advertising? Because if you don’t have health insurance by March 31, you will have to pay a penalty on your income tax form next year. … More

Obamacare March Madness Push: Have a 'Game Plan' or You'll Get a Terrible Disease

The latest Obamacare advertising site is an odd mix of athlete/star inspiration and trying to scare young people about getting diseases. Foundry's Ortega on "Meet the Press": Bring Health Care Ideas to the Debate

On Sunday’s “Meet the Press,” Foundry Contributor Israel Ortega talked about the importance of presenting conservative ideas on health care—not just responding to attacks from the left or talking about Obamacare’s flaws. Heritage has been sharing lots of ideas for patient-centered health reform that would give Americans choices and put … More

The White House Thought They Knew What Health Plan You Should Have. They Were Wrong.

“Too many Americans have substandard health plans.” That was just one of many arguments made by President Obama and his allies to justify why America needed the heavy government regulation included in Obamacare. Obamacare, they assured us, would rein in all those “bad-apple insurers” and protect consumers from the false … More

We knew this was coming—because it’s been happening to Americans for awhile. The president finally admitted that you can’t necessarily keep your doctor under Obamacare. In an interview with WebMD (Check the “Access to Care” portion at 1:00 in), he said: For the average person, many folks who don’t have … More

White House Reverses Course on Obamacare Cuts from Sequestration

As part of its latest effort to make Obamacare more politically palatable, the Obama Administration has switched course on a rule that would have made certain exchange subsidies subject to automatic federal spending cuts. The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget first spotted the reversal, which was part of a … More

Delaying Obamacare's Individual Mandate Due to 'Hardship' -- Caused by Obamacare

It’s getting difficult to take any part of Obamacare seriously. The Obama administration has altered or delayed it so many times—who can be sure what the law is at this point? The individual mandate stating that every American has to purchase government-approved health coverage or pay a fine is supposed … More

Jolly Victory Proves Democrats Backing Obamacare Vulnerable in Purple Areas

House conservatives are taking away a simple lesson from Republican David Jolly’s win in Florida yesterday: Voters still don’t like Obamacare. When I asked the 12 Republican representatives at The Foundry’s Conversations with Conservatives event today if they believed Obamacare was the key issue in Jolly’s defeat of Democrat Alex … More

The White House Jumped the Shark Today

Cultural trends are often said to “jump the shark” when they go too far and become laughable or obsolete. The White House is in this territory with its desperate—desperate—marketing of Obamacare. Today, Lance Bass—a member of the boy band *NSYNC, which was popular in the late 1990s and early 2000s—tweeted … More
