    Politicians have always been great at two things (1) making promises that cannot be kept and (2) spending taxpayer money. Health care reform is no different. In fact, every health care bill proposed by Congress thus far will cost over $1 trillion dollars, expand the size of government and will create a new entitlement. As the Wall Street Journal noted this morning, the House Ways and Means Committee originally estimated that Medicaid’s “first-year costs would be $238 million.     Carbon Caps Already Killing Californian Jobs

    This week the House of Representatives held hearings on a sweeping new law that would impose a cap on carbon emissions and regulate energy and manufacturing in this country. Moderate Democrats in Congress are less than thrilled about telling their constituents they are about to swell the ranks of the unemployed by making it even more difficult for companies in the energy and manufacturing sector to stay in business.     Earth Day Update: Green Without Government

    It’s the day of the year that the world celebrates being green and there’s certainly a lot to be “green” about today. The Pacific Research Institute and the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) published their yearly Index of Leading Environmental Indicators showing major progress in cleaner air and safe drinking water.     The Nuclear-Free Distraction

    This weekend the North Koreans tested their Taepodong 2 ballistic missile, surpassing their 2006 effort by completing at least two phases and traveling a longer distance. This improvement is still a troubling development. To his credit, Obama is calling for the UN to enforce its previous resolutions prohibiting North Korea from launching a ballistic missile.
