This may not have been the year of the “Miss me yet?” billboard, but  former President George W. Bush still made plenty of waves this year.

1. His “presidential” ALS ice bucket challenge video:

2. He became the first president to publish a biography of another president – his father. The book was titled “41: A Portrait of My Father.”

3. He joined Goodreads, a social media website for readers and authors, where he answers people’s questions about his books.

4. His friendship with former President Bill Clinton:

5. He made an unannounced visit to the 9/11 museum. He and his security detail arrived during regular museum hours and there was no media present. He looked over the exhibits and shook hands with a few law enforcement officers. “You could clearly see that this was something he had wanted to do for a long time,’’ another museum visitor told the New York Post.

6. He visited Children’s Medical Center of Dallas dressed up as Santa Claus to deliver toys to sick children, complete with an elf helper (again, with no media present).

As a Christmas bonus, we’ll throw in an extra time a Bush was awesome this year. Here’s 41 skydiving on his 90th birthday this summer:

Thank God for this man … and thanks to the All Veteran Parachute Team for a safe landing. #41at90
