Bob Dylan and Chrysler Illustrate Benefits of Globalization During Super Bowl

In Chrysler’s Super Bowl ad for the Chrysler 200, Bob Dylan says [1]: “Let Germany brew your beer. Let Switzerland make your watch. Let Asia assemble your phone. We will build your car.”

The ad didn’t mention that Chrysler is a wholly owned subsidiary of Italy’s Fiat [2].

The United States is the most prosperous nation in history because Americans have the freedom to buy beer regardless of whether it’s made in Missouri or Germany, to buy a smartphone designed [3] in California and assembled in Asia, and to buy a Chevrolet Impala assembled [4] by Canadian autoworkers for General Motors, a Fiesta assembled [5] by Mexican autoworkers employed by Ford, or even a Chrysler 200 assembled in the U.S. by autoworkers employed by Fiat.
