  • Genevieve Wood Joins The Foundry as Senior Contributor

    Genevieve Wood

Genevieve Wood, whose work has advanced The Heritage Foundation’s policy priorities since 2006, this week takes on a key new role as senior contributor to The Foundry. The move harnesses Wood’s gifts in writing and speaking to Americans about practical solutions informed by conservative ideas, as Heritage begins to reposition the think tank’s policy blog to become a top media brand for news, analysis and commentary.

Wood, whose background encompasses major media and communications, is expected to be the leading voice for The Foundry, regularly contributing commentary and making media appearances about the most critical issues on the public agenda – from job creation to spending restraints to homeland security.

“Genevieve will produce quick analysis of breaking news and astute commentary that persuades and activates audiences needed to achieve conservative policy victories,” said Geoffrey J. Lysaught, group vice president for strategic communications, who made the announcement to Heritage staff. “She will work closely with our policy and development teams to carry the Heritage message to our hundreds of thousands of members and represent The Foundry at events around the country.”

Before joining Heritage in 2006 and becoming a member of the senior management team, Wood held media-related positions with, among others, the Family Research Council, the Leadership Institute, National Public Radio, NBC News and the Republican National Committee. As a commentator, the native of Texarkana, TX, has appeared on CNN, MSNBC and Fox News Channel and on programs such as CBS’ “Face the Nation,” NBC’s “Today,” C-SPAN’s “Washington Journal,” PBS’ “To the Contrary” — and even ABC’s defunct “Politically Incorrect” with Bill Maher.

Lysaught describes Wood’s role as critical in the multi-year strategic initiative to reposition The Foundry from blog to go-to media brand for news of consequence to Americans as well as for conservative policy analysis. Former National Review reporter Katrina Trinko’s arrival as managing editor was announced last week by Rob Bluey, The Foundry’s editor in chief and Heritage’s director of digital media.

“We will be looking to Genevieve to set the standard for The Foundry’s commitment to unassailable intellectual integrity and holding the powerful accountable,” Lysaught said.
