Harry Reid Out of Touch with Americans on Obamacare

Is Harry Reid (D-NV) out of touch with Americans? When it comes to Obamacare, the answer is yes.
“I told him, very directly, that all these things they are trying to do on the Obamacare [sic] is just a waste of their time,” Reid said.
Meanwhile, America’s opposition to Obamacare is growing as the exchanges’ implementation date grows closer. More people are finding out about the unfair, unworkable, unaffordable consequences of Obamacare, and the Administration’s taxpayer-funded advertising buys can’t hide the truth.
A Fox News poll found that 68 percent of voters are concerned about their personal health care under Obamacare, and a majority want to take the health care system back to 2009.
And according to an NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, 45 percent of Americans think Obamacare will have a negative impact on the country’s health care system.
“A large number of Americans continue to adamantly oppose the nation’s new health-care law and believe it will produce damaging results,” NBC reported.
Another poll released by CNN last week proves opposition against Obamacare has grown since efforts to promote defunding the law have ramped up. The poll shows public support for Obamacare plummeting to 39 percent—a significant drop from January, when 51 percent said they favored all or most of the provisions in the new law.
The growing unpopularity of Obamacare is something Heritage President Jim DeMint says would eventually cause liberals—even President Obama—to take notice.
Reid, of course, isn’t alone in his view of Obamacare. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) echoed the same sentiment in July when she said efforts to defund the law were “destructive.” And yesterday, President Obama criticized Republican members of Congress for their defund Obamacare ideas, saying it would create “economic chaos” in a government shutdown. But according to Rasmussen Reports , Americans are not afraid of a government shutdown if it means “Democrats and Republicans in Congress will agree on ways to cut the budget, including cuts in the funding for Obamacare.”
While Reid, Pelosi, and President Obama may continue to ignore the concerns of much of the American public, some House members are proving they’re actually listening to Americans.
Representative Tom Graves (R-GA) introduced a bill last week that guarantees funding for the government while fully defunding Obamacare until 2015. Fifty-nine of his colleagues signed on, and they’re hoping more members sign on this week.
