Marriage [1]

The Supreme Court is expected to rule in challenges to state and federal laws [2] that define marriage as the union of one man and one woman sometime this week. Below is a list of ways that you can prepare for the Court’s decisions.

Ahead of the Supreme Court’s decisions:

On decision day:

  • Learn about the decision. Heritage will have a response to the Court’s decision right here on The Foundry [4]. Alliance Defending Freedom will be at the Supreme Court on the day of the decision and will have an easy-to-understand legal analysis of the Court’s opinion on their website [6] within 90 minutes.
  • Tweet. Be sure to use the hashtag #1m1w (“one man, one woman”) on social media.
  • Remind people that the debate over marriage will continue. Regardless of the Court’s decisions, the debate will continue, and we should continue to uphold the truth of marriage as the union of a man and a woman in the interest of children and limited government [7]. The American people and our elected officials should be free to make marriage policy. Courts should not stop the debate about marriage policy [7] currently underway through the democratic process.
