  • DeMint on Fox News: Immigration Bill Is “Going to Cost Americans Trillions”

Heritage Foundation President Jim DeMint appeared on Fox News’s “Your World with Neil Cavuto” this afternoon to challenge the Congressional Budget Office’s report that immigration reform will boost the economy.

“People are projecting without any data,” DeMint said. “This bill is going to cost Americans trillions of dollars.”

DeMint said that despite claims by the Gang of Eight, Republicans did not lose the 2012 election because of immigration reform. They lost because they did not inspire the Hispanic voting base.

“Republicans lost the election because they ran a negative campaign,” DeMint said. “We’ll win their vote when we show that we care about them and that we want to make their lives better.”
