  • VIDEO: Heritage's Robert Rector Sets the Record Straight on Welfare Reform

The so-called “fact checkers” are acting more like President Obama’s surrogates than independent analysts. On issue after issue, they’re simply ignoring the facts. And when it comes to the Obama administration’s changes to welfare reform, they’re getting it wrong over and over again.

Ever since July 12, when the Department of Health and Human Services rewrote the successful welfare reform law of 1996, Heritage’s Robert Rector has explained in detail how the administration’s new directive allows states to waive work requirement, gutting the reform of its most critical element and bludgeoning the letter and intent of the law.

He’ll make that case again today at our Bloggers Briefing at noon ET. It will run approximately one hour. Rector is also planning to preview the Census Bureau’s forthcoming poverty report.

The Bloggers Briefing was founded in May 2006 as a weekly policy discussion for conservative bloggers and journalists. Follow the action on Livestream or ask a question on Twitter using the hashtag #BloggersBriefing.

the stereo type and admittance of democrats to voice government services that are suppose to be non discriminating, open for anybody in survival need- reference blacks only!! A stronger America would have little need for government resources but when you have a political party that discourages freedom and independence and encourages self sympathy, pointing out people that democrats say needs help who didn't ask for it, changing rules that effect the economy to lessen responsibilities for some, adding more responsibilities on others. The democrats want the poor maintained not overcome because the needless costs we're forced to pay for government we have no benefit in, is keeping us the working class, poor!

If you work irresponsibly and play by Obama's rules America won't be the promoter of freedom and human equality, AGAIN!

Nothing Mr. Romney did throughout his life amounts to the ugly catastrophe upon catastrophe the control of this administration is imposing sacrifice upon sacrifice on SOME people using the last three years setting this country up for complete government take over. Everything Mr. Romney did throughout his life benefits more people without infringement, than Obama has done in three years laying infringements on some for the free ride Obama gives to his own. Obama mentions specifics of who he works for and it isn't EVER America as a whole.

Obama says his way is working which says nothing about America's way which proves to work when Americans follow the same rules applied and accounted for! Obama shows no reflection of America just his obsession to destroy her using his tricks of illusion and con.

We choose America's way over Obama's way ANYDAY! Americans, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan experienced America's way where Obama has been challenging it by conflict throughout his life.

This was hilarious. I have never seen an analysis so devoid of facts and knowledge about welfare reform. There is a reason fact checkers don't call you. Analyze this impressive performance (when right wingers controlled the White House and Congress); some of the state data is really interesting, isn't it?

Big Government Is NOT the Answer

Your tax dollars are being spent on programs that we really don't need.
