  • Conversations with Conservatives: Congressmen Answer Your Questions

Ten conservative members of Congress will gather on Capitol Hill today at 11:30 a.m. to take your questions about a range of policy issues confronting lawmakers.

The monthly event, Conversations with Conservatives, will feature Reps. Raúl Labrador (R-ID), Jeff Landry (R-LA), Tim Huelskamp (R-KS), Jim Jordan (R-OH), Tom Graves (R-GA), Vicky Hartzler (R-MO), Sandy Adams (R-FL), Ann Marie Buerkle (R-NY), Justin Amash (R-MI) and David Schweikert (R-AZ).

The Foundry will carry it live beginning at 11:30 a.m. Questions may be submitted in the comments below, via Twitter to @cwc112 or by using the hashtag #CWC or on the group’s Facebook page.

This marks the fourth meeting of Conversations with Conservatives. The goal is to bring together free-market and liberty-minded members of Congress each month to take questions from citizens, bloggers and the press about the most important issues of the day.

The event will be hosted by Labrador, Huelskamp and Landry. They expect to field questions on topics ranging from the looming Supreme Court decision on Obamacare, lawsuits challenging the anti-conscience mandate,  tax reform, the “fiscal cliff,” and the agenda for the rest of the 112th Congress.

For Congressman Labrador: you claim that defense has so far been off the spending cuts table, has been a sacrew cow, and Republicans haven't seriously cut it. Yet, since 2009, defense accounts have been cut by over $920 bn, counting the First Tier of the BCA, the Gates program closures of 2009 and 2010, and Gates' efficiencies ($178 bn), but not the New START treaty. My question: when will you stop misleading the public and retract those utterly false claims?

For Reps. Huelskamp, Amash, and Labrador: you are enthusiastic supporters of the sequestration of defense, i.e. cutting another $600 bn out of an already significantly cut defense budget. What exact defense programs would you target for closure and why? And how are you going to protect America with a deeply cut force and defense budget? And how can you justify such big defense cuts when NO other govt. agency or program has contributed anything meaningful to deficit reduction?

How is anything Mr. Obama and his select government done unconstitutionally, valid? How is it not just as easy to remove all unconstitutionalities put in place by abusive government disrespects who've misused the peoples' constitution beyond the peoples' control and by government's own wrongful, degrading, time and cost consuming, misinterpretation as it is for government authority to violate by misinterpretation? …did that make sense?

Big Government Is NOT the Answer

Your tax dollars are being spent on programs that we really don't need.
