  • Obama Hearts Israel . . . Oh, Really?

At the annual American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) meeting in Washington today, President Barack Obama delivered a speech on US-Israeli relations under his presidency, but with the bad parts left out.

“I have kept my commitments to the state of Israel,” Obama declared, “At every crucial juncture – at every fork in the road – we have been there for Israel. Every single time.”

    What’s not love? A lot.

President Obama failed to mention the years he spent trying to “engage” with the Syrian and Iranian regimes — time wasted that would have been better served pursuing a strategy to responding to those countries’ support for terrorism, weapons proliferation, horrible human rights records, and enmity towards Israel.

Left undiscussed was the Administration’s missed opportunity to embrace the Green Revolution against Tehran.

No word, either, on the years wasted pressing for Israel to negotiate with a Palestinian authority that tolerates Hamas — a terrorist organization dedicated to the destruction of Israel.

Not much either on the president’s questionable strategy for Iraq, where the White House was more concerned about getting combat troops out than that the country stays on a path that embraces freedom and security.

Our president also skipped over the dramatic rift between Turkey and Israel and all the Administration has not done to close it.

Finally, President Obama didn’t touch on massive cuts to U.S. conventional forces and the U.S. nuclear deterrent — cuts that will make America a less valuable and dependable ally to Israel.

The President finished his speech by declaring nothing is “off the table” when it comes to dealing with the Iranian nuclear. It would, however, had been far better if he could have given a speech how he had worked to diminish that threat rather delivering an address acknowledging that when his policies fail America might well have to send in the Marines . . . and a lot more.

Israel shouldn’t be reassured — or feeling the love.

      Liar, Liar, pants on fire!

    2. Judge Obama by his actions…not his rhetoric. Too often people are mesmerized and fooled by Obama's chatter. What a mistake. His actions are so deficient. I pray that Israel will keep their own counsel and not be tricked by his slippery deceitfulness.

      mr. president, just words…and cover!

Mr. Carafano please explain why the UN has not invoked R2P to stop the slaughter that is taking place in Syria. The UN and President Obama were quick to cite R2P in the case of LIbya but not one mention of this UN doctrine has been heard in the case of Syria. It seems to me that R2P is used arbitrarily and only in cases where the state is very weak and thereby success is nearly guaranteed.

Obama is the most anti Israel President ever. Jimmy Carter is the worst President ever after being President. But Carter is almost done, and Obama might win the re election. Obama dissed netanyahu at the White House, and had Hilary dress down Netanyahu publicly. He minimized Israel's leaving of Gaza, as Israel has done nothing to foster peace . He wants Israel to agree to 67 borders as a Pre condition of peace talks with a group of people who say never to any concessions. He wants Israel to agree to give away land in Jerusalem as a pre condition to peace talks. He refused to cut off funding to the PA after they agreed to merge with Fatah. He has tried to change the Bush doctrines guarantee of current Jerusalem , Israeli neighborhood expansion in exchange for withdrawal from Gaza, which of course only resulted in thousands of bombs, mortars and rockets aimed at civilians in Israel. His fervent support for Turkey and friendship with Erdogan is a problem. (continued)

Obama publicly stated he wanted to put daylight between America and its strongest Ally in the region, Israel. When Palestinians celebrated the life of Dalal, a terrorist who killed 38 Israelis including 13 children, Obama said nothing. He was, despite his denials, influenced by his antisemetic Pastor Jeremiah Wright. And he was influenced strongly by Rashid Khalidi, frequent dinner date friend, PLO supporter, and member of their guidance committee. His theory that Israel was a catstrophe, racist and apartheid, was backed up when he founded the Arab American Action Network. When Obama served on the board of the Woods Fund of Chicago , the charity gave $75000 to Khalidis AAAN. Obama was celebrated by Khalidi as the best choice for US Senate under any circumstances.

Obama was forced to fire the foreign policy advisor to his then Presidential campaign, when it became known that Malley, virulent Anti Israel author for ICG, had contact with Hamas leaders. Obama in his Cairo speech in 2009 alleged that Israel policy was equivalent to the humiliation of segregation among black slaves, and of people from South Africa. Obama laments Israels gestures, leaving Gaza, agreeing to a two state solution, a ten month moratorium on construction, and a willingness to negotiate at any time, as no bold gestures. Appeaser. It goes on and on.
