  • Green Energy Irony: Obama's 22-Vehicle Fossil Fuel Motorcade

Yesterday, President Barack Obama rolled through Las Vegas to push for federal investment in clean energy vehicles, making his pitch at a UPS plant, escorted by a motorcade of 22 fossil fuel-burning vehicles. We haven’t seen anything this ironic since Al Gore hopped on a private jet to promote his global warming flick “An Inconvenient Truth.”

Kudos to our friends at the Nevada Policy Research Institute who captured the moment on video.

can anything display a clearer definition of hypocracy?

    2. Old Voter says:

Yes, this POTUS is the poster child for "Do as I say, not as I do."

    3. Sir John2 says:

Now, granted, some (4?) where of local law enforcement, but seriously- does anyone know why there had to be so many???? maybe local politicians in a couple?? and they were gas consuming SUV's and vans? What was the rationale?

    4. Evie cou says:

This is so like Obama….Does the man EVER
STAY IN THE WHITEHOUSE AND ACCOMPLISH
ANY WORK HE WAS ELECTED TO DO!??
Maybe it's best that he is absent at all times!!
Would be nice if Congress would also go
Home also and it would be better for every
      Citizen!!

      • Jill Maine says:

I just wanted to say that half of Congress has to battle the Senate and the president. I think they are getting things done by not cowtowing to BHO. That is why we elected them in 2010.

    5. What irony: he's "green" yet rolls into town in a 747 no matter how short the flight, and where are the "alternative fuel" cars in his motorcade? If he's so concerned about saving energy, why not make the entire motorcade Prius, and Chevy volts?

    6. Garvin Smith says:

      Hypocricy at its finest!

    7. Paul Samrane says:

Obama should ride on an electric car to promote green energy. Fossil-fuel motorcades are not green at all.

    8. Chuck says:

Ha! Love it! A huge motorcade for the King of Green and not one of the vehicles even remotely fuel efficient, let alone "Green." All to promote immature technology that will never pay for itself. More Solyndras ahead…

    9. @Jinelle39 says:

just another scheme and waste of tax dollars after just secretly pushing thru another radical agenda debt ceiling raise of 1.2 trillion dollars added again hmm wonder what its going to be next month another 2 trillion maybe, my guess is as good as anyone elses i guess

    10. holly says:

And we are shocked at the irony/hypocrisy because … ???

    11. Franklin Thompson says:

Nothing about the left's hypocrisy shocks me anymore; even the fact that MSNBC will never show this.

    12. Jill Maine says:

What makes everyone thing the electric cars are so good for the environment? They are coal powered cars at least while we still have some affordable coal powered electric. After that they have to rely on the hot wind from BHO's mouth.

    13. Jeanne Stotler says:

All these so caled "Green" supporters live by the "Do as I say, ot what I do" On top of that we, te axpayers are paying for his re-election campaign, DNC is suppose to provide and pay for this.

    14. @wawasdat says:

come on you can't expect Obama to follow the same rules as the rest of us after all he has… he's gonna… he plans to … he say's he will………….. gonna have to get back to you on that one!

    15. Stirling says:

"Do as I say, not as I do." – progressive liberal ideolgy… Hypocracy at it's finest… and the PR disconnet with the rest of us. Methinks he's going to have to donate a lot to Al Gore's Carbon offsets project now. 8p

    16. Bill says:

The presidential motorcade consists of highly modified vehicles. Specifically the president's vehicle which is severely weighted down by armor and various security countermeasures. These measures insure that our president regardless of what race he or she is will be protected against most forms of attack. Whether its from light munitions or even a bio-chemical attack.

Therefore, the vehicle that is best equipped to carry those types of modifications cannot be a smaller fuel efficient or hybrid vehicle. It has to be a V8 with a large chassis and ample storage room (for things such as respirators, presidential blood supply, additional weapons for secret service and satellite communications equipment).

If any commenter here can figure out a way to develop a vehicle that meets all of the secret service standards required to protect the leader of our beautiful country – whether that leader be republican or democrat – and get the fuel economy of a Prius, you have a million dollar idea.
