  • Issa Subpoenas Holder for Fast and Furious Documents

Citing recent revelations in the investigation into a failed sting operation against Mexican drug cartels, the House’s lead investigator served Attorney General Eric Holder with a subpoena on Wednesday, requesting a range of documents related to the cross-border law enforcement effort.

“Top Justice Department officials, including Attorney General Holder, know more about Operation Fast and Furious than they have publicly acknowledged,” Darrell Issa, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee said in a statement.

Fast and Furious was an operation conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. An attempt to gather information on cartel weapons smuggling, the operation allowed 2,000 guns to pass into Mexico, where many disappeared into cartels’ hands. More than a thousand remain remain unaccounted for. Just last week, 100 Fast and Furious guns were found in the home of a cartel enforcer.

“The documents this subpoena demands will provide answers to questions that Justice officials have tried to avoid since this investigation began eight months ago,” Issa added. “It’s time we know the whole truth.”

The subpoena requests internal communications within the Justice Department, as well as communications with White House, the ATF, FBI, DEA, the Mexican government, and a gun store known to have supplied many of the weapons used in the Fast and Furious operation.

The most recent push by Issa and others in Congress was spurred by news that Holder knew about Fast and Furious nearly a year earlier than he had previously admitted. In May of this year, he told the House Judiciary Committee that he had “probably heard about Fast and Furious for the first time over the last few weeks.”

But Justice Department memos recently released by the Oversight Committee reveal that top DOJ officials briefed Holder nearly a year before the hearing, and offered some details on the workings of the investigation. The apparent discrepancy has pushed the scandal back into the headlines, and reinvigorated congressional investigators.

For his part, Holder has maintained that his remarks before the Judiciary Committee were “truthful and accurate.” He claimed that he was simply referring to knowledge of the gunwalking tactics used in the Fast and Furious operation, not knowledge of the operation itself.

Step down, Mr. Holder! You and the like do not represent THE GOOD OF AMERICA or the good of all Americans! BE GONE!!!!

Can someone explain how these Federal Agencies planned originally to follow up these weapons? And why didn't it work?

Our own Federal government trafficked over 2500 guns to Mexico in a blatant, back-door attempt to rob us of our constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

Holder committed perjury when he claimed in congressional testimony that he knew nothing about 'Fast and Furious'. We now know for a fact that it was regularly reported on in weekly memos personally addressed to him. So what did Obama know and when did he know it?

These 'fast & furious' gun-running Feds are not only guilty of perjury and murder but also of bankrolling ruthless criminals, international terrorists, right/left-wing paramilitaries and various death squads with their counter-productive, sado-moralist policy of Prohibition.

Colombia, Peru, Mexico or Afghanistan with their coca leaves, marijuana buds or poppy sap are not igniting temptation in the minds of our weak, innocent citizens. These countries are duly responding to the enormous demand that comes from within our own borders. Invading or destroying these countries, thus creating more hate, violence, instability, injustice and corruption, will not fix our problem. We need to collectively admit that we are sick. — Prohibition is neither a sane nor a safe approach; left unabated, its puritanical flames will surely engulf every last one of us!

When we legally regulate something, (as opposed to when we foolishly attempt to prohibit something) we do NOT automatically condone it's use; the legal regulations concerning the sale and manufacture of alcohol and tobacco are there to protect us from the vast increase in criminality and mayhem that would otherwise surely exist if we were foolish enough to prohibit them.

When governments prohibit drugs they effectively and knowingly hand a monopoly on their sale to dangerous criminals and terrorists. Without a legal framework in which to operate, these black-market entities can always be expected to settle their disputes violently, while terrorizing many peaceful and innocent citizens in the process. Were the users of alcohol to blame for the St Valentines massacre in the US in 1929? Of course not! It is just as naive to assume that one can compel all the users of Marijuana or Cocaine to simply quit, as it is to assume that all the users of Alcohol should have stopped drinking after the introduction of alcohol prohibition in 1919.

Holder is doing it again! Remember the Clinton years? Lies, lies, lies! It seems that when they need a liar to make an excuse for bad behavior or illegal behavior, the Democrat party in power can drag out Holder, and he always performs as needed.

What is next? How about Solendra? Is Holder going to handle that, too?

He seems to be shoved out to testify or make comments when something has been done that cannot be justified, or when a cover-up is needed. Remember the Clinton years?

I don't feel safe in my own country anymore. President Obama might as well give the drug cartels the key to the whole United States. They seem to have carte blanch anyway. What a pair of desperados,Holder and Obama are. Where is a Wyatt Earp when we need one. Carol camlife@yahoo.com
