  • Morning Bell: Come Clean and Cut Funding

What did the President know and when did he know it, goes the old Washington adage. Thus did the American people learn yesterday in separate but equally startling revelations that the Obama Administration knew more about two scandals than it has been revealing. The first is regarding the Operation Fast and Furious gun running disaster and the second is the now-bankrupt, Obama-backed Solyndra solar power company. Both instances provoke serious questions for the White House and demand long-overdue action.

In the case of the Solyndra scandal, it is clear that Congress must shut off funding for the President’s green energy programs. Not only is President Obama unapologetic about the wasted funds, but his Energy Department seems intent on doubling down with other solar bets–and with the American people’s money.

In the case of Fast and Furious, Department of Justice (DOJ) memos obtained by CBS News show that Attorney General Eric Holder was aware of a controversial cross-border law enforcement operation in July 2010 — nearly a year earlier than he had previously acknowledged under oath in testimony to Congress. The program, which was overseen by the DOJ, launched an effort to sell weapons to small-time gun buyers in the hopes of tracing them to major weapons traffickers along the southwestern border and into Mexico. Of the 2,000 weapons sold, roughly 1,500 remain unaccounted for, and the weapons have been connected to at least 11 violent crimes in the United States, including the killing of a border patrol agent.

Testifying before the House Judiciary Committee in May 2011, Holder said that he had “probably heard about Fast and Furious for the first time over the last few weeks.” CBS News notes that the pair of memos “directly contradicts [Holder's] statement to Congress.” Heritage’s Lachlan Markay reports:

On July 9, 2010, Michael Walther, director of DOJ’s National Drug Intelligence Center, briefed Holder on Fast and Furious, which he mentioned by name, according to one of the memos. The operation “involves a Phoenix-based firearms trafficking ring,” Walther wrote, and an unidentified number of “straw purchasers,” who “are responsible for the purchase of 1,500 firearms that were then supplied to Mexican trafficking cartels.”

Four months later Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer, who heads DOJ’s criminal division, informed Holder of eight arrests relating to Fast and Furious, which he also referred to by name.

“The Justice Department told CBS News that the officials in those emails were talking about a different case started before Eric Holder became Attorney General,” the network reported. “And CBS News reported that Holder misunderstood that question from the committee — he did know about Fast and Furious — just not the details.” Heritage Senior Legal Fellow Hans von Spakovsky says, “This raises serious questions about Holder’s credibility and whether or not he provided accurate information to Congress.”

Then there’s the case of Solyndra, the company that received a $535 million government-backed loan to produce solar panels, then went bankrupt. President Obama visited the company in May 2010 and hailed it as “a testament to American ingenuity and dynamism,” using it as a showpiece of his “green” jobs initiative. Since the company’s bankruptcy in September, questions have been raised about the propriety of the loan and the process by which the Obama Administration is picking winners and losers in the marketplace.

In a new development, e-mails released Monday show that President Obama received advanced warning about the company’s financial condition and pleas that he reconsider visiting the company in order to avoid political embarrassment. The Washington Post reports on the exchange:

“A number of us are concerned that the president is visiting Solyndra,” California investor and Obama fundraiser Steve Westly wrote to Obama senior adviser Valerie Jarrett in May 2010. “Many of us believe the company’s cost structure will make it difficult for them to survive long term. . . I just want to help protect the president from anything that could result in negative or unfair press.”

Yet despite the warnings about the company’s financial condition, the Obama Administration went ahead with the loan, putting 535 million taxpayer dollars at risk on a venture that had red flags all over it.

Remarkably, in an interview yesterday with ABC News, President Obama defended his Administration’s backing of Solyndra, saying ”hindsight is always 20-20″ and that Solyndra “went through the regular review process and people felt like this was a good bet.”

This, though, was not even a question of hindsight, but of sheer stubbornness in the face of contrary evidence. As the e-mails reveal, the White House had the benefit of foresight–advance warning that the company was on shaky ground. But the e-mails weren’t even the only warnings. The Wall Street Journal reports that “by late 2010, Solyndra ran into such severe cash problems that it violated terms of its loan, and the government restructured its agreement in a way that allowed private investors, who agreed to provide a $75 million loan, to be paid ahead of the U.S. if the firm was liquidated.” Yet despite all this, the President went ahead and put taxpayer dollars on the line.

Both Operation Fast and Furious and the Solyndra investment raise serious questions about the Obama Administration. In the case of Fast and Furious, it is now clear that Attorney General Holder and the DOJ have not been forthright with the American people. It’s time they give the country a full accounting of the operation, its knowledge of it, and why they have not been forthcoming.

As for Solyndra and the President’s green jobs gambit, there is certain clarity that the Administration’s strategy of backing companies that can’t stand on their own two feet is a failure. Congress should cut off funding for the President’s green energy programs, regardless of whether the President wishes to see the writing on the wall.

We need alternative energy: solar, wind, etc. The issue is the political influence on selecting winners/losers. And not on the need for the technology. Too many are using the Solyndra issue to bad mouth all forms of alternative energy. I suspect they have their own pet rocks they are protecting, instead of looking at the greater picture.

      • Al Metcalf says:

While you are looking at the greater picture you may need to get some engineering support concerning Wind and Solar. Neither will be ready for main line support until we have the ability to 'Store the Energy' from these two sources, or devise a way to make them produce on demand.
This is the real issue. We need the method to handle peak draw on our energy production which needs to be available on a demand cycle.
At this time the only methods we have to solve this 'peak energy' problem is Coal, Gas and Oil fired energy production systems.
This problem will not be solved with money thrown by fools, it is a basic scientific engineering problem which has been around for over 150 years. It is called Battery Technology and Electrical Storage.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Remember, he's a chicago politician!

    3. Glynnda Whtie says:

Nice story, but let's face facts. The Real problem lies with a Congress that doesn't have the backbone to remove funding from these and other projects that they know very well are corrupt, defective, etc. My fear is that they too are involved and receiving kickbacks from these projects. There is no doubt in my mind that projects such as Solyndra are Democrat funding schemes, I'm thinking entrenched Republicans are also feeding at the trough. The president and Mr. Holder will not be questioned on these matters by the press-until the press no longer finds them useful. Until that time we need an honest Congress that will refuse to fund one more dime until these matters and others are thoroughly investigated and dealt with in the court system……meaning somebody's going to jail or going to get impeached….

It appears to me that Hoder has lied to Congress and that is a serious charge that needs to be executed. No fiddle faddeling around about it just do it dCngress.

    12. Mary says:

Are there any rules or laws that our Congress and Senators can use to stop this Administration from continually spending our taxpayer monies on private enterprises who most likely give money back to the Democratics for a thankyou. ? Where are the laws and rules.? No wonder there is no money left for the legitamite projects like Social Security, which was supposed to be kept in a separate fund so it would grow and we would not have to get such a pentance. Plus many other projects that are legitmate government projects, and not helping poeple start up a private business with our money not theirs.
It is time to get back to basics.

    13. JAMES MCMILLIN says:

These are questions that you should be placing before the Cheney/Bush officials and Congress for not demanding answers to questions about what that administration knew and even admits today, BUT are not being held responsible for the loss of not only billions of dollars as well as millions of unnecessarily displaced persons and THOUSANDS OF LIVES, both Americans and innocent Iraqis and Afghans.

You really have nothing to question until answers are demanded and justice is served on much more consequential issues than supporting private industry like Solyndra with government funds. Let's talk about government propping up contractors still soaking the U.S. in Iraq and Afghanistan as in building a chicken processing plant where no chickens can be grown… FIND SOME REAL TOPICS TO QUESTION.

      • Bobbie says:

this is a real topic to question and so is yours…
time isn't always on the side it needs to be when things are being dismantled for years, behind the backs of Americans.

To have integrity is productive anything less is counterproductive and we're dealing with so much less costing wastes of time and money.

    14. Robert, TX says:

Yeah, come on Obama, you big meanie. Cut the funding. Of course, budgets are supposed to start in the House – where the republicans won a smashing, landslide "taking our country back" victory – at least, that is what Rush and Heritage told US. What will they DO? Wait thirteen months for another meaningless election (like last November's apparently was). Come on, Heritage! NO one in Washington is listening to you.

    15. Jim O says:

Mr President, hindsight is always 20/20, particularly when using other peoples's money! Had it been your own money, Solyndra might not have been such a good "bet". Once again, the mis-spending of taxpayer money is too easily dismissed…!

    16. SilverBullets says:

Why is this usurper still in office?
Why is he and his partners in crime not already behind bars?
Is there not one person in either house of Congress with sufficient courage to do what must be done?
We the People are sick and tired of it all and 2012 may be too late!
      How utterly scandalous!!!

      • Bobbie says:

as disgustingly degrading as it is, these men have no good content of character so they refuse accountability hiding behind the fact, they're not white! and forces everyone to follow through. Pathetic? EXTREMELY!

Just those with Obama's mindset! Because most people of all skin color have DIGNITY these guys who are so upset they aren't white as if skin color comes by choice, don't HAVE! …the white man did it!

    17. chukker says:

This president and his administration are all about Potemkin Villages. Appearances, facades, "The Picture of Dorian Gray." Underneath it all is a runny river of slime and putrid matter. This Chicago corruption and profound deception at every level is repugnant and ought to motivate every voter of honor to boot Obama, his czars, and cronies out of the Beltway in 2012. And when it comes to Eric Holder, the next photo issued of him ought to be a mugshot.

    18. Conrad says:

the money$ Did it find it's way back into the POTUS reelection war chest?

    19. Richard B says:

"The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States;"

Fast and Furious may fit under "Defence" but funding for energy programs is not within the powers of Congress.

The big scandal is that members of Congress and presidents are violating their oath of office and we the people are not holding them accountable.

      • C. A. Buzbee says:

The ourpose was to incite the public to want stricter gun control laws. How provable that is, I don't know.

    22. Richard B says:

"It would reduce the whole instrument to a single phrase, that of instituting a Congress with power to do whatever would be for the good of the United States; and as they would be the sole judges of the good or evil, it would be also a power to do whatever evil they please. Certainly no such universal power was meant to be given them. [The Constitution] was intended to lace them up straightly within the enumerated powers and those without which, as means, these powers could not be carried into effect." –Thomas Jefferson, Opinion on a National Bank, 1791

    23. Bob France says:

You left out the half million dollar kick back to the Democratic Party just before the Solyndra loan was approved. Obama plays freely with our tax dollars to the point of negligence if there's green in it for "his own." That should be an impeachable offense.

    24. Obama's Green Corruption goes way beyond Solyndra –– monies and special treatment have gone to other Obama Bundlers, large Democratic donors, Obama's Job's Council as well as DOE staff –– past and present. This is a huge story and I have thousands of pages of notes. Wake up press, Congress, and America — It's time for a special prosecutor!

    25. Vovager_again says:

I though it was 535 BILLION, not million?

      • Doug Nicholson says:

It was millions. If it had been billions, it would have taken them 6 more months to go bankrupt.

    26. Sharon says:

You guys are doing a great job! Just wish your articles would hit the mainstream press. I'd send another donation, unfortunately my engineering job of 21 years was shipped to China 5 months ago and I presently can't even feed or cloth my family. If you need an idea for another article, look at the new invisible poverty group, former 6-figure income college-degreed people between 50-62 that have been forced to "early retirement" after being laid off by their corporations. The "early" part cut our projected pension payments to a fraction of what they would have been and reduced or eliminated any health benefits. We don't count as unemployed due to the "pensions" and we're not eligible for welfare or SS or Medicare. I personally know of several hundred people in this position so there must be millions. True example: age 55 person making $150K with health insurance gets laid off / retired for $12K with no health benefits after 20+ years with Fortune 500 Best Employer. I assume the government is looking the other way because we don't cost them anything and if we don't find decent jobs, this will lower our future SS payments (if they exist). The corporations are intentionally targeting older pension eligible workers because their pension payouts calculated in SS as part of the total payout. Since they anticipate SS going bust, they assume their funds are even more underfunded than reported. Younger workers aren't promised pensions or retirement health insurance so they keep their jobs.

      • KC - NM says:

I'm sorry to hear of this issue. I am 3+ years from retirement, in aerospace as a quality engineer. I never know anymore from day to day if I will still be employeed. I also know of many who are in similar positions as you are. I do not see improvement until after 2012 – if we get the current administration out of the Whitehouse and clean up the mess in Congress. Then we need someone who is not purchased by either party to run this country and show some real leadership.

    27. Whicket Williams says:

There are MANY questions that need to be addressed as soon as the regime is changed at the 2012 elections, and the damage done by the regime is reversed, the government shrunk, and legions of regulations eliminated.

"he did know about Fast and Furious — just not the details.” Heritage Senior Legal Fellow Hans von Spakovsky says, “This raises serious questions about Holder’s credibility and whether or not he provided accurate information to Congress.”"
perhaps he is telling the truth since there was more than one program running out o his office:
"Operation Gunrunner–in which the government authorized the sale of weapons with the intent of letting these weapons fall into the hands of Mexican drug cartels, which killed an American border agent.

Operation Castaway–in which the government authorized the sale of weapons knowing they would fall into the hands of Honduran gangs, which is a major drug area.

Project Gangwalker the ATF and the DOF allowed the straw purchases of weapons which eventually ended up in the hands of United States gang members in Indiana” and have been found at crime scenes in that state. And the numbers suggest that far more weapons went to operation gangwalker than both of the others combined.

Now picture gang bangers in armed flash mobs and just where did that army that Obama formed disappear to? All paid for with stimulus dollars.
Add to that a state governor that thinks there should be no elections for two years until the congress can fix the problems. And Obama does not think that Americans understand democracy as well as he does.
It all leads to the UN small arms treaty that Hillary signed off on all to disarm the American populace.
It all sounds treasonous to me beside the legalities of it.

      • KC - NM says:

If this was a republican administration – the media and liberals would be screaming for impeachment and firings!

"Not only is President Obama unapologetic about the wasted funds, but his Energy Department seems intent on doubling down with other solar bets–and with the American people’s money."
and the major share holders in the company are democrats even the California's Democratic party and he is just waiting for the campaign funds to come in before he shuts them down all the way.

    31. multiplexer says:

Why is Eric Holder still in office? How do you get rid of a criminal AG at the top of DOJ? There must be a way (a peaceful way) of ridding ourselves of this disgrace. I did not believe you could get worse than Janet Reno … but of course, Liberalism never fails to provide an even MORE extreme idiot further down the road of stupid. Holder is a straight-up criminal, period, and should be arrested and jailed for failure to carry out his duties (Black Panthers etc) and for acts of treason against the United States of America (Operation Fast and Furious). This was not a 'mistake' … it was an contrived attempt at destroying the 2nd amendment. Holder MUST go, and that's being 'nice' about it.

    32. Eduardo Guzman says:

What is Congress doing, these alegation are criminal in nature? Where are the subpoenas?

What about Attorney General Eric Holder? He knowingly lie under oath, he should resign and we should continue to prosecute him.

      Where is the public outcrie?

We are a bunch of do nothing! No wonder the Democrats continue to do what they have always done, break the laws with impunity!!

Your articles are great, but …?

    33. toledofan says:

I think it is past time for Congress to cut all spending that doesn't address the function of goverrnment; funds to the U.N., funds to fund the Czars, etc., should be blocked. If the Senate can't come up with a budget then the government should shut down. I mean please, how many people had to work for how long to make the $535 million that Obama said was, he thought, not a bad bet and lost. How many scandals is it going to take before the laws of the land apply. Watergate in comparison or the Scooter Libby debacle, are minor in comparison. Congress needs to wake up and start doing it's job.

    34. Eric says:

It sounds like Eric Holder has committed "perjury". Why is he not being brought up on charges? I wish our Congress would do their job and uphold the law.

    35. Greg, San Diego says:

      PART 1

The aim of Fast and Furious, and the other similar operation in the Southwest, was to create a scandal. But the scandal was not the one that the Obama Administration and its Justice Department expected. They expected that the guns that they sent across the border, by forcing law abiding U.S. gun shop owners to disregard the obvious criminal buying attempts of the straw purchasers, would then be found at crime scenes in Mexico, traced to the U.S. gun shops, and create an excuse for more gun regulations. However, it blew up in their face when some of the guns were found to have been used to kill a US Border Patrol Agent, and used in other US crimes. The Mexican people also suffered as a result because the guns were used in murders and other crimes in Mexico.

Thank God for the honest, moral, brave ATF Agents who blew the whistle on this disgusting conspiracy. As a result, the real purpose of the program is coming into the light of day.

    36. Greg, San Diego says:

      PART 2

Congressman Darrell Issa and Senator Chuck Grassley must keep the pressure on the Administration, particularly the Justice Department, to get to the bottom of this scandal and prosecute those involved, including Attorney General Holder. He has now been found to have lied to Congress in his testimony about when he knew about Fast and Furious. I believe that a thorough investigation will eventually work its way to the White House. It seems that such an operation, especially to further the anti-gun agenda of the Obama Administration, and involving sending arms over the Border to Mexico, would have been known and most likely approved by the President himself.

He has continually said that he would try to further gun control under the radar. How better to do it than under a covert, illegal operation to discredit lawful and honest gun shop owners and create a climate that lets his comrades in the anti-gun movement take the lead and scream for more gun control regulations! He could then distance himself from their efforts and try to maintain an air of neutrality in the gun control arena.

      NOT NOW !

    37. theoldrang says:

One has to wonder how many 'other' programs they have to send to their alies, in Anti-US Muslim, Pro-Obama crime-syndicates, Juntas, other fascist dictators, etc. that have not been uncovered….

    38. kaydell bowles says:

It is sad that the hope and change President Obama espoused during the 2008 election campaign was not the change and hope the Americans wanted. It has beome more of backroom deals as exemplied in the Health Care plan; it is the giving and bailing out companies and unions with the stimulus plan known as the plan, "you give me votes and campaign money and I will give you money for your wants"; and then the gun running to Mexico as 'I want to destroy the second Admendment by implicating gun dealers as the cause of the drug problem. The house has been built over the three years with the aide of many all in concert from the beginning of this administration to destroy the American system.

    39. Kathy Fischer says:

      • Robert, TX says:

That is not only the KEY question – it is the ONLY question! The 240 wimpering, crying, partying republicans in the House are NOT the answer – they have proven that with their inaction.

    40. Bud Teed says:

Obama has absolutely no credibilty, whatsoever. If the Fast and Furious and Solyndra scams aren't enough to sink this administration, God help us!! This group of misfits have demonstrated their true aim is not for the betterment of the American people. This President has the audacity to "scold" or try to coerce Congress to pass his "jobs" bill. The Department of Energy has blown half a billion dollars on Solyndra and is now blowing even more on Nevada and Arizona so called "Green" companies. It is past time to wake up and throw these self-serving misfits out of the Government.

    41. Clearhead says:

The Heritage Foundation is a veritable political and moral oasis. One suggestion to clarify and amplify its statements to the public, however, is: Strike from your rhetoric phrases such as "This raises serious questions about Holder's credibility…….." — and — "it is now clear that Attorney General Holder and the DOJ have not been forthright with the American people". In other words, call a LIE a LIE, and a LIAR a LIAR. Why draw your punches?

      • SilverBullets says:

I couldn't agree more! You, my dear, have a "clearhead" indeed!

I've positively had it up to my eyebrows with euphemisms and political "correctness".

If the president doesn't know the difference between hindsight and pertinent information to make sound decisions, he's unfit to be an American leader WHO'S INTELLIGENCE IS NOT TO BETTER THE COUNTRY BUT MAKE BIGGER THE GOVERNMENT! His judgements are his own without any consideration to ANYTHING! He disproves to be a good judge of anything and especially character as he protects those of QUESTIONABLE AND OBSERVED INEPT characteristics.

Oh, but he did say "we will get our money back!" DECEIVER! He is not we and we are not the government in control! Once the government steals tax dollars for investments of governments, the money is GONE from those it was taken!!!! NO RETURN!! To address one of Mikes points: (part 1)
"Come clean," by cutting out Eric ( the red) Holder from office, as a traitor to America.
The Att. General of the USA is rouge, dirty and has been on the edge of treason from day one. He's exactly what POTUS wanted as Fatwa, was declared on American law, States' Rights an obstruction for justice as examples in archives, on this website.
This new age Benedict Arnold is a traitor, and the F & F scandal makes Watergate look like an outdated cartoon.

      • carol,az says:

        Part 2
Some may suggest that after his trial we demand a public hanging to be witnessed by all members of : ATF, DOJ, and ICE. A rising of consciousness and reminder, to the oath of office swore to protect America. The press that has pandered to the D.C. house pet and his gang of fools would ask all of us to "forgive and feel guilty."
Please name me on Cabinet appointee that has brains and leadership to bring us back to normalcy?
We are a nation of individual exceptionalism, extraordinary imagination for enterprise, research and development, all thwarted by our leadership to allow us to be Americans.
This clear and present danger is led by a double-headed serpent. Trouble is , no one can tell the difference any more how to sever it. They all look-alike.

    46. Ron W. Smith says:

By all means, investigate. As one who favors full disclosure, full openness in the conduct of business, and, most important, full justification preceding any legislation, government activities, and individual threats or accusations, how could I not say investigate? Too much happens behind closed doors in government, too much is concealed from the voting public, and too much chicanery is accepted as "oh, that's politics." It's time to hold those we elect to the very highest standard, not just hope and pray good things will happen.
Obama now, in other words, then anyone else at all, any political group at all subject to the same "investigate" rule, the more removed from government circles the investigators the better. Our politicians' jobs are public ones, not private in any sense at all.
Having said that, let me add, concerning Brownstein's piece, that as sour as the Solyndra case looks to be, we should not be discouraged from public investment in ventures not otherwise, because of riskiness, likely to be funded. China and many other countries are showing us quite successfully how it is and can be done. See Ha Joon Chang's 23 Things They Don't Tell You About Capitalism for an articulate and entertaining overviews of the flaws in free-market capitalism. (Chang is South Korean, by the way, and en economist at Cambridge University.)

    47. Carol M Kite says:

Oh, he knew all about these operations from the get-go. He stays in the background, usually, but there's nothing in the goverment that he's hasn't either put in motion or is very aware of. He & his socialist czars aren't above being resposible for every heinous act perpetrated upon the taxpayers.

    48. Many more Obama Bundlers, Obama Large Donor, those on Obama's Job's Council as well as DOE staff past and present, like Jonathan Silver, Matt Rogers, Steve Spinner, Kristina Johnson, Kathy Zoi, Carol Browner and more –– are part of "Obama's Green Corruption." This thing is huge (I have thousands of pages of research) and needs a special prosecutor!

    49. Dwana Townsend says:

If I perjured myself in front of Congress or a Grand Jury what would be the consequences? Are these people above the very laws that they would throw me under the jail for? They should be held to a higher standard don't you think?

      • Robert, TX says:

Yes! They should be fired! All of them. My congressmen, my senators, your congressmen, your senators -EVERY single one of them. Term limits are for the gutless – vote with passion – FIRE CONGRESS!

    50. Lil says:

Could "Fast & Furious" have been a counter-run at the 2nd Amendment? Did Obama & Holder think that the causal action from Fast & Furious, guns run amok as it were, would allow them to operate against the 2nd Amendment? Were they counting the "placid" public to allow them to countermand the 2nd Amendment based on the violence which had erupted from this so-called "operation?"
The Solyndra debacle is just another example of the incompetence of Obama. This is a man who has NEVER held a full-time job in his life! I do believe this was also his attempt to "spare" political cronies and fund-raisers from "sacrificing" their money in a financially weak company.

    51. Brian Terry says:

Even with Solyndra in so much trouble the government was still providing funding right up until a couple weeks before the bankruptcy announcement was made public. On 7/14/11 Solyndra received $2,965,920.08 in funding. Bankruptcy doesn't happen overnight. Solyndra was taking money from the government right up until the end.
Feel free to check the US Treasury Federal Financing Bank web site and see what the disbursements were and when to Solyndra, the Post Office, Ford, etc etc. http://www.treasury.gov/ffb/press-releases.shtml
From 9/22/09 thru 7/14/11 Solyndra received $488,264,876.07 in nice easy monthly payments. Just lovely!
Someone should be going to jail.
What is the FFB you say? It is a government corporation, created by Congress in 1973 under the general supervision of the Secretary of the Treasury. The FFB was established to centralize and reduce the cost of federal borrowing, as well as federally-assisted borrowing from the public. The FFB was also established to deal with federal budget management issues which occurred when off-budget financing flooded the government securities market with offers of a variety of government-backed securities that were competing with Treasury securities. Today the FFB has statutory authority to purchase any obligation issued, sold, or guaranteed by a federal agency to ensure that fully guaranteed obligations are financed efficiently.

    52. Mutantone says:

The gun running projects are designed to allow the president to force congress to install stricter gun laws under the guise of the second amendment needs to be fixed using their actions to justify it. When in fact all that is need is adherence to the existing laws.

    53. RennyG says:

With all this information and apparent lies, why are we sitting on our hands? I this were the good guys the Dems would have them in court by now. The information is great, but, "where is the action??" I thought we had republicans who were supposed to stand up for us, we the people!!

    54. Bob P says:

In regards to the President mentioning that spending $535 million (of taxpayer not government money) on Solyndra was a "good bet", if my math is correct, it would take more than 19,000 Americans earning $100,000 after deductions and paying 28% in Federal Income Tax just to cover this one "good bet"!! How about Americans earning $50,000, etc……..

    55. Marty says:

it is now clear that Attorney General Holder and the DOJ have not been forthright with the American people.

Whay can't you just say it like it is.

      Holder Lied.

    56. CB-TX says:

How is it that both of these things are not way worse than Watergate? The media is not doing their job like Woodward & Bernstein did, otherwise we would have already sent Obummer packing.

    57. charles yoder jr. says:

Obama is the most corrupt president in modern history. The Solyndra scandal. The passing of the health care bill.He makes Nixon look like a saint. Also, the Fast & furious gun-running fiasco.is the so-called main stream media in these scandals. They're reporting on a lodge that Rick Perry visits to go hunting because there is a rock that had an offensive word on it.Rome is burning while the main stream media is fiddling.

    58. Jeanne Stotler says:

There is a lot more than F&F and solar energy that needs to be looked into, This whole administration and every action it has been involved in needs to be examined by special investigators. This is a scandal we need to open up and prosecute to full limits of the law.

    59. Pistolero says:

What can we expect from a regime that is bound and determined to bring the United States to it's knees and to make it a third world country for the benefit of the UN "one world government"!!!
Holder needs to be indicted, tried and sent to the very prisons he is SUPPOSED to oversee. Obama will get his just desserts as the country see's what a corrupt chicago politician he really is. I predict he will be indicted and tried for his crimes after he is defeated in 2012 if not before.

    60. Denis O says:

I have been predicting that the Dems are smart enough to realize that Obama is killing their Party, and they won't let him run for another term. Impeachment does not require a crime being committed; it involves character issues that can include crimes. The House would impeach, easily, but the Senate must vote 2/3rds to convict. If Obama was to hear a whisper that 2/3rds would probable convict, if certain Dems did not want him to run, he would take the hint.

    61. C. A. Buzbee says:

These may be small problems compared to the LightSquared situation. There was somekind of bad pressure brought against the FCC to approve this operation with the hast that it did. This if allowed to stand would be a great blow to National Security, the Airline Industry, the FAA's new trafic control they are working on and all private aircraft, not to mention Surveyors and anybody else that uses and depends on GPS. Why was something so important to the Nation pushed through so quick and quietly?

    62. Blair Franconia, NH says:

Cut "green jobs." They're a scam.

    63. Glen says:

I bet the shredders are working overtime in D.C.

    64. inverbrass says:

Obama is not only incompetent, but corrupt as well. He surrounds himself with those equally incompetent, inexperienced and also corrupt. When will America wake up? Obama, his policies and those in his cabinet are far more dangerous to our way of life than Osama, Hamas, Muslim estremists, etc…. He is frightening and will destroy our way of life if left unchecked. Holder is merely a manifestation of the corruption and rot that prevails in this administration. How much more damage will he do to our Nation before he is removed from office? He is not above the law!

    65. Pete says:

Good to know these facts of administration criminality, BUT when in the hell is someone going to DO something? Tired of being well informed and NOT well represented or defended. If our government does not act on our behalf is it time to envoke the Declaration of Independence? This government is far more abusive to us than that of George of England.

    66. PoBoy says:

From what I've heard the guy hosting Obama's fund raiser in St Lewis owns a company just like Solyndra that has received millions in "green money" from Obama in the form of loan guarantees. Now Obama is getting his "payback" in the form of campaign contributions. Everything Obama touches turns out to be a scam!

    67. Dr. Dennis Wahler says:

Remember you can't fix stupid but you can VOTE THE BUMS out of office 2012. "IN THE FALL FIRE THEM ALL"

    68. WFJM says:

WE MUST remember the Truth is what they say it is! The talking heads just repeat a story without regard for the truth and call it freedom of speech. Why would our incompetent AG Eric Holder LIE? Could it be that in 2009 BATF could not find a US GUN DEALER SELLING guns to Mexico!

    69. Brian says:

Nothing will happen to him. Nothing ever does.
