Government bureaucrats are living the good life. Salaries and benefits are 30 percent to 40 percent higher for federal workers than their private-sector counterparts. They enjoy great benefits, such as early retirement with generous pensions. And now, the rest of America is starting to take notice.
This week on Scribecast, we spoke to Iain Murray, vice president for strategy at the Competitive Enterprise Institute. He’s the author of a new book called “Stealing You Blind: How Government Fat Cats Are Getting Rich Off of You” (Regnery, 256 pages). It documents how public-sector workers are turning government into a bloated bureaucracy that’s fueling reckless spending and driving America deeper into debt.

We asked Murray about his experience in the British government and if there’s any hope for a Margaret Thatcher-like effort to transform the U.S. government. He would start by returning more power to the 50 states, creating less dependance on a centralized government. He’d also change the mindset of federal workers that bigger is not always better.

When the President insists we all need to sacrifice while with bias, governments, unions, members, recipients are under government protection from government's own actions, inactions, failures, hardships government obligates the tax payers when government and all its entities should be rightfully sacrificing and held accountable!!!!!!!!! We're the only ones sacrificing from everything government is accountable for and from Obama's words and actions, we will continue to be his target for sacrifice while he expands and protects his own. IT HAS TO STOP!!!!!

This is a lord serf relationship. Why do government workers need to be paid so much? They personally risk nothing and do not produce a thing. Practically all services they perform, we the people would jump on something more efficient and less costly if it were available. No one wants to pay for their services. The problem with these greedy federal workers is that they know they took all they can for themselves from the people today. They feel they must do a better job scouring the remaining wealth they can from today. But where these thugs are the most egregious in their actions is that they are robbing future wealth for their personal gain today. They do not care about the perils they will put upon themselves in that same future.
