  • A Nuclear Triangle?

North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il’s visit to China this week has again raised questions about the nature of their relationship.

A recently leaked U.N. report described suspected ballistic missile technology exchanges between North Korea and Iran. The technology transited through an unnamed neighboring country, which several U.N. diplomats, under the condition of anonymity, have identified as China.

Not surprisingly, China is apparently blocking the public release of that report.

As Heritage experts James Carafano and Owen Graham explain, North Korea and Iran have a long history of military cooperation, and Iran’s missile arsenal, which is the largest in the Middle East, draws heavily on North Korean technology and designs. North Korea remains intent on gaining nuclear weapons; it may have already achieved its goal.

Yet the most disconcerting aspect of the leaked report may be that China, which has the most influence with North Korea of any member on the U.N. Security Council, may not just be turning a blind eye toward this illicit cooperation but may in fact be allowing it.

Advances in Iran’s ballistic missile technology are worrisome as well, even after four rounds of U.N. sanctions. This week the press got hold of an IAEA report revealing that Iran has increased its supply of low enriched uranium, a precursor to weaponized uranium.

The U.S. government raised the pressure on Iran and North Korea this week by announcing new sanctions targeting U.S. companies and individuals suspected of doing business with North Korean, Syrian, or Iranian nuclear or missile research programs. The sanctions are a positive step, but their effectiveness remains an open question.

As Carafano and Graham point out, U.N. and U.S. sanctions haven’t yet halted the efforts of Iran and North Korea. And one reason may well be the cover they are getting from an as-yet “unnamed” country.

One Response to A Nuclear Triangle?

    1. Leon Lundquist, Dura says:

That isn't an 'open question' to me, Scott! The answer is NO! The Sanctions have not been effective, will not be effective, were not really designed to be effective and the Domestic Enemy is running the show at the CIA! When it comes to dirty double dealing, our Foreign Policy is a Policy For The Foreign Interest! It's like Saudi Arabia using our money (from Oil) to create an abomination to supplant a Religion! Wahabbi Schools everywhere, teaching utter evil, the murder of innocents. Surely that is as dangerous as the atomic bomb! Oh! But we keep funding them! The Chinese are just that kind of twisted 'friend,' how they love our money and hate our very souls!

If our American Government were truly our own? George Bush would have been right about "Mission Accomplished!" We would not have lost a Trillion Dollars and 3,000 American Soldiers in Iraq! CIA did a number on Bush, actually did Black Ops on a sitting President! The only thing that makes sense any more is the Half Vast Left Wing Conspiracy! They actually want a nuclear war, to reduce the 'excess population!' You will notice, the Chinese aren't buying the big Carbon Junk Science! No way will they pay in the Climate Exchange! No! They have a Government that actually serves the Chinese National Interest! Our Government serves anything at all, anything except our National Interest!

It isn't any mystery what the Obama Administration is doing! There are so many High Crimes that nobody can agree on what they should Indict! That's how crazy American Politics is! "Oh we will Vote them out!" Will you? What makes you think Americans will have a Free and Fair Election? That is the utmost wishful thinking! Obama is the Constitutional Expert on destroying Representative Government! He has yet to win even one Fair Election! And he has a billion dollars! And they are asking more billions for ACORN (Whatever you call them these days.) Then they get billions more worth of Free Campaign Contributions from the Captive Media! Nobody has the guts to call it Treason, but I suppose you will all find out about it after the Iranian Bombs fall! But, then it will be too late.
