  • Morning Bell: How about a National Obamacare Waiver?

If you knew a dangerous virus was about to hit America and that you could beg the government for a vaccine, you’d probably do it, wouldn’t you? That’s just what states and businesses alike are doing right now in preparation for Obamacare. But rather than seeking a vaccine, they’re asking for waivers from the law’s onerous requirements.

To date, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has approved 1,372 Obamacare waivers, covering 3.1 million Americans. Yesterday, The Daily Caller reported that among HHS’s most recent round of 204 Obamacare waivers, “38 are for fancy eateries, hip nightclubs and decadent hotels in House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s Northern California district.” That’s right: Nearly 20 percent of exemptions from Pelosi’s crowning health care achievement were doled out in her backyard.

If that’s not enough irony for you, try this waiver on for size: On Monday, the Las Vegas Sun reported that Nevada—Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s home state—received a partial statewide Obamacare waiver, too. If you’re keeping score, Reid was Pelosi’s counterpart in the Senate fighting to get Obamacare passed into law. Now his state will be one of three to get a waiver from the law’s requirements, while the rest of America suffers.

Why did Nevada get a waiver? The Sun reports that HHS found that some of the law’s implementation requirements “may lead to the destabilization of the individual market.” Senator Dean Heller (R-NV) said that that’s all the more reason why Obamacare should be repealed:

It is becoming increasingly clear how flawed this law really is . . . Not only did it cut a half trillion dollars from Medicare, impacting thousands of Nevada’s seniors, now the law would have driven health insurers out of our state if a reprieve had not been granted . . . This is why ‘Obamacare’ will not work for Nevada.”

But Pelosi’s district and Reid’s home state aren’t the only ones getting waivers. There are others getting a break from the law, too—big corporations and labor unions.

All these waivers might sound like a lot to you, especially since most of the law’s provisions don’t take effect until 2014. But if you ask the White House, they’ll tell you that it’s no big deal. In a press briefing yesterday, press secretary Jay Carney downplayed the waivers and said that it’s “not that many” and that “[t]he waiver is not a waiver of the law” but just a “provision of the law.” Well, that’s one way to spin it.

The Heritage Foundation’s Kathryn Nix explains why some of the waivers are being granted:

Obamacare forbids insurers from placing annual and lifetime limits on health plans. These “consumer protections” have endangered the limited coverage plans that some employers currently offer. Unable to provide more comprehensive coverage, those employers would be forced to drop coverage altogether if they abide by the new law. To avoid this consequence of the new law, employers are flocking to secure the waivers offered by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to keep their employees covered.

In the case of waivers for businesses, Heritage’s Ed Haislmaier recently testified that the Obama Administration doesn’t really have the authority to grant them in the first place. In the case of state insurance markets, Congress explicitly allows a waiver, which is an admission that they knew the legislation would be disruptive.

It makes sense that labor unions, states and companies of all sizes want to escape Obamacare’s costly requirements. That’s because it’s clear that Obamacare already isn’t working, even though the law is barely out of the gate. But granting waivers here and there merely postpones the effects of the law for a couple of years. It’s not the solution America needs. A better idea would be to repeal Obamacare and grant America a permanent nationwide waiver.

76 Responses to Morning Bell: How about a National Obamacare Waiver?

    1. Bill B, Michigan says:

It is a shame we can't get a waiver from Obama, along with Obamacare.

    2. Mary............WI says:

I applied for a wavier through Grassroots Nation…doubt I'll receive one. Obviously Obamacare is a piece of junk. More and more companies and states want no part of it. Repeal it! This is a great time for the House to go at it again since the two biggest fans, Pelosi and Reid, are finding their own states or businesses in their districts want no part of it. Go to it Boehner!!! Knock this "junk bill" out of the water once and for all. I think the support might be there in the senate now…..ask Reid!

    3. Roger, TN says:

This is the height of hyprocacy. Nancy, Harry and the associations that supported the Obamacare bill and drove it down our throats are given exemptions. There should be absolutely no exemptions for those that openly supported the bill.

    4. Dotty, Nashville, TN says:

I'll bet the donation to liberals is high among those who received these waivers. Wonder if those who were rejected donated differently…

    5. Troy Kittell, George says:

This disgusting piece of legislation needs to be defunded now and repealed after the 2012 election. This is the straw that breaks the camel's back of our economy. As you can see from this story, it is ripe with fraud and cronyism.

    6. Steve Cafaro Fort My says:

ObamaCare was and continues to be a waste of political capital. If Obama had put as much effort into restoring American jobs and began the process of repatriating the tens of millions of job, thousands of factories and the complete industries that have been exported to foreign countries, his prospects and the future of all Americans would have been greatly enhanced.

The sorry fact is that neither Obama, his Democratic colleagues or the Repblicans have no interest in restoring the jobs, industries and opportunites that made America a great Nation. How long can the American economy hold up given the dependence on foreign goods for our daily needs and the necessity of foreign finance to pay our bills?

    7. charles labounty mer says:

Let's have a National obama Waiver?

    8. Lynda Schultz says:

I find it quite ironic that Ms. Pelosi, who led the band wagon for Obamacare, has now secured waivers for the district she represents.

It seems to me that if Obamacare is good enough for the "rest of us" it should be good enough for Ms. Pelosi's constituents.

It is my greatest hope that the lawsuits filed against Obamacare will make it to the Supreme Court sooner rather than later and that this outrageous exercise in socialized medicine will be defeated along with Obama's re-election bid in 2012!

As conservatives, we must pull together to oust Obama and his destructive agenda and re-claim American Exceptionalism starting with freedom of choice in healthcare.

    9. Pat, San Antonio says:

Clearly, if Pelosi and Reid ask for waivers for there district and State, Obamacare does not have much value to business or older people. Actually, it has no value to anyone. This outrageous bill must be gotten rid of before the really bad part kicks in.

    10. STEVE says:

Excuse me, but didn't Obama offer to all the States the opportunity to set up their own systems? Did you guys miss that?

    11. Blair Franconia, NH says:

Obamacare should be repealed and replaced. Repeal it and replace it with something different.

    12. ThomNJ says:

      KILL. THIS. LAW. NOW.

    13. Frank, Florida says:

      "Crony capitalism" at work.

    14. Barbara says:

Obamacare is chaos for the health of America. Is the oh-so-smart Barak Obama not intelligent enough to see?. Or is he blinded by his self-indulgent agenda?

    15. elizabeth groves says:

In the future they may be begging their way back in. People are going to demand medical care be part of their job benefits especially when the present "safety nets" are no longer available. Also hospital ERs will be flooded with patients seeking non-emergency care. Maybe we should sit tight and see how this plan works……

    16. Turner, Massachusett says:

Little by little the bills founders are repealing the bill, but only to their constituents advantage.

    17. Clearhead, U.S.S.O. says:

What about this, "Las Vegas Ken" ? Cat got your tongue AGAIN? Or are you downtown grovelling around for YOUR waiver? Oh, wait — Prince Harry doesn't live downtown, does he?

    18. Judith in Michigan says:

Steve: You may find the answer to your question about states' opportunities for setting up their own systems by reviewing The Heritage Foundation's column, The Foundry of March 25, 2011. It is titled: "Accepting Federal Exchange Funding for Obamacare: A Dangerous Proposition for the States."

As for the waiver scandal, I sure hope the GOP presidential candidates hammer this, often and loudly. The disgrace of Obamacare hypocrisy can no longer be swept under the rug.

Is Representative Darryl adding this to his list of fraud investigations?

    19. Baker says:

Just go out of our annual medical enrollment briefing with HR…. our employee contribution is doubling. Last year I paid 166.00 every pay period – now I must pay 305.00 to cover my family. My employer is gracious enough to pick up much of the increase so this only represents a percentage of the "savings" Obamacare brought us. This is horribly wicked. You can bet my state, Texas, will not receive a waiver since we didn't vote for BHO – we can't even get a retired shuttle orbiter, even though Johnson Space Center in Houston was the center of the shuttle program. Socialism at it's best – oppress everyone equally, and grant reprieve for those you want to rise above the rest.

    20. Marilyn - Scottsdale says:

There's one easy way to repeal Obamacare. Well, not easy, but doable. Find Obama ineligible to hold the office he sits in and all bills, laws and appointments are null and void. The big "undo". The birth certificate issue is not settled and has raised more questions than it has answered.

    21. Ben C., Ann Arbor, M says:

Steve – yes. I missed the opportunity for States to set up their own plan – please explain or give a reference.

    22. West Texan says:

The three stooges managed to create a constitutional crisis they find untenable? Hilarious! Whoever elected these clowns should never be allowed near a voting machine again. Not until they've learned the ABCs of federalism and limited government. There has been too much compromise with overreaching federal demagoguery. I'm not a secessionist, but it seems the only way out from an ever expanding national socialist government. Having faithfully upheld my constitutional oath in defense our country's liberty and freedoms, I'm finding it more difficult to identify being a 21st century American because of the never ending corrupt policies spewing forth from the district's macro social engineers.

    23. Frank J. Randazzo Cy says:

      RPEAL REPEAL REPEAL!!!!!!!!!.

    24. Bill says:

Didn't a federal judge declare Obamacare unconstitutional? Doesn't that nullify this horrible law?

    25. Jeanne Stotler,Woodb says:

How about using the FOIA and see where the political contributions from those Cos. that got waivers went to going back to 2008. BHO says he wants transparancy, his interpetation of this and mine differ like Night and day, I say open all the books of those who asked for waivers and see if those refused were Rep. or backed a Rep. and if those who attained waivers made contributions to BHO, Queen Nancy or Prince Harryor any other Dem. the results might be interesting and show how unethical this Administration is.

    26. Jill, California says:

May the Courts take judicial notice of the growing number of waivers. And may the number of waivers keep growing as the lawsuits against Obamacare make their way to the U.S. Supreme Court. Such evidence weighs heavily in our favor.

    27. Jim-MN says:

Hey Koolaid drinker Steve; Get your facts straight before posting your BS on this site. Only serious thinkers allowed. Why don't you follow Ken Jarvis to Cuba or wherever he said he was leaving for…..

    28. Ken says:

I guess Nancy Pelosi finally read what was in the bill ?

    29. Kevin H, college par says:

The biggest threat to the country's fiscal future is the rising cost of health care. I'm thankful we have a President and Congress willing to take on this politically difficult challenge. Many of them paid for it last November, but they can rest easy. Health reform is desperately needed. Doing nothing is not an option as the can had been kicked down the road decade after decade.

I see an awful lot of misinformation being written, particulalry in the comments, but until the conservatives offer a better plan, this is what we have. It will never be repealed, but if better options are out there or changes can be made to improve it, i'm all for it.

I hear a great number of people saying 'repeal and replace' – yet they have nothing to offer to replace it with – they have no plan except to say we need more work on medical liability, which i agree with, but we need something comprehensive that takes every aspect into account. Chairman Ryan's plan does nothing to slow the rising cost of health care, it merely shifts costs from government to individuals in the case of Medicare and block grants Medicaid so states will only be able to offer to help a set amount of beneficiaries.

    30. mike hutchings says:

here's the bad thing about blanket fixes….there are to many rules and to many laws to enforce….soon or late people in the know cozy up and find a way around them…they cut their deal to advantage them over their rivals….its then in their interest to continue with the new status quo….and whether it hurts the nation as a whole isn't considered as long as they get theirs…and in gangster fashion they carve out fiefs for themselves….this is part a a wider split to reduce the power of the country….as was done in europe….by these oh so noble socialist power brokers…that would have us for cattle….the education part of this equation resides in the green movement which is a religion…..it has all the components….al the earthly dieties and devils…..health care is a tool of conquest….they are after supremacy and nothing less than that…..with so many rules….look for selective enforcement to punish resistance and reward the compliance of their toadies…the free market brought down the soviet union….the free market will bring down the walls of this latest attempt at world domination…..for what is the environmental movement but the velvet glove over the iron fist….what is obamacare but the same glove to hide true intent….these issues are the same….education is the same….the wise men who touch the elephant blind folded describe parts of a beast…but not the beast its self….let us not be so blind….keep the enemy in front of you….and dont be fooled …they are the enemy…and their power is built on a foundation of division….as all empires are…………when i was in high school it waqs popular amongst the hip…to call themselves citizens of the world….that word play has taken hold….diversity to liberals is color only….not of thought and conviction….critical thinking and personal conviction….outside liberal thought is a threat to the tower people…who look at the big picture….and mistake the ability to crush an opponent witha right to do so….such are the people who would be kings… harry them and force them to reveal themselves….and then there's a choice to make….do not forget who they aqre and what they want by division….they are and must be treated as one parisitic entity………compassion is not in them….its a tool and nothing else….the iron eyed have been with us long…. the dream of america is a dream that they can't allow….remember who they and don't forget what we are….as they would have us do…..

    31. toledofan says:

I sure hope everyone remembers this during the next election; this was a Democrat bill, supported by all the Democrats, and rammed down our throats by the Democrats. So, the only way this bill is going to get repealed is to vote the Democrats out. As long as they own 2/3rd's of the government nothing is going to change. You need a chainsaw to cut through the hypocracy in Washinton and that, at least for now, isn't going to change.

    32. George, Fort Wayne, says:

It appears to me that by the time Obamacare becomes active in 2014 the majority of corporations, unions, states and small businesses will have received waivers. Hum, who is left to pay? Here comes another boondoggle and the liberals first cry will be "close the loopholes to these unscrupulous companies". Of course Nancy, Harry and the other Democratic Senators and Representatives who helped get the exemptions for their companies, districts and states will be nowhere to be found. This gets sadder every day.

    33. Eric Magnuson says:

Hey Steve – you have it backwards, any rights not explictly given to the Federal government reside with the State. Did you miss that ?

    34. Dr. Henry D. Sinopol says:

The lifer politicians Republicans & Democrats, live this way…pass laws & apply them selectively. What's good for the population is not good enough for politicians.

If the law does not apply to Congress, how can it be equitable? But, Obama care or some form of it will be with us forever, because Congress & Heritage will continue to chase the crisis of the week and forget about repealing this health care junk.

    35. Jack Coleman, Port T says:

Way past time to vote all career political/lawyer elected officials out of office and replace them with citizens dedicated to honoring their oath of office.

Obama Care is most definitely not Constitutional, regardless of which clause in Sec. 8 of the enumerated powers of congress they try to use to make it legal

    36. Ron W. Smith, Provid says:

Surprise, surprise, Obamacare is flawed, and some Democrats are now implicated in hometown favoritism. Obamacare is flawed because it's the residue of the Dems' original approaches to health care reform–single payer and, later, public option– both of which were torpedoed by interests on the Right, Heritage Foundation not only among them but instrumental in providing the "intellectual firepower." And, of course, Pelosi, Reid and others on the Left showed hometown favoritism since that's where their voter bases, not to mention much of their political funding, are located. They're typical politicians, no?

Health care inflation in the U.S. is and has been at least 8% annually for many years, and employers have been bailing on providing health care coverage or have been reducing their share of coverage costs. Single payer would've eliminated employer involvement and provided the only realistic control on spiraling health care costs. What is more, all-important portability of coverage would have been every American's.

,Thus, with Obamacare being systematically undermined from the Right, the monkey is now on Republicans' backs. Republicans don't want what they see of health care reform now in slow implementation, but the need to provide Americans full, viable health care coverage remains. Look into Heritage Foundation's recent "Saving the American Dream" for its approach to reform. It starts on page 24. If the tattered remains of the Left's approach to reform have bothered you (as they have me), wait'll you see how having a monkey on your back serves as "inspiration" in the face of necessity.

    37. Stirling, Pennsylvan says:

How about a permament wavier forever for everyone in america, then just defund it completely. That way Obama can say he got a law on the books, but we the people don't have to have the consequences of annother failed entitlement program. Then future generations can forever have an example of what the leftist liberal democrats do when they are elected. Democrats will forever own "obamacare." Political Slogan – "Save the children, don't elect an obamacrat."

    38. Chuck Carver Ann Arb says:

What ever happened to Equal Protection Under the Law? Why do some get waivers and other do not?

    39. Diane Crawford Sun C says:

How do we ever get back our private medical information from the federal govt, that should be between you and your Dr?

Oh, and I want a waiver too.

    40. Marie Merritt Island says:

Why hasn't anyone called this discrimination against the people who are not in a union or affiliated with the Democrats.

    41. Patrick, Boston says:

@Pat and @Lynda: Nowhere did it say that Pelosi and Reid requested the waivers — only that waivers were granted to business that operate in Pelosi's district and to the state that Reid represents, at the request of the state itself.

    42. JohnL2 SC says:

It appears that Pelosi (and Reid) "passed it so they could find out what was in it" and did NOT like what they found! The people of California and Nevada elected these two idiots and neither state should EVER get a waiver from Obamacare! They made their beds, let THEM lie in them……alane!!!!

    43. Ben C., Ann Arbor, M says:

For those of you under sixty five and have not yet been forced into Medicare you will find that your account number is your social security number. On the back of the card it states you are to carry this card at all times. Several years ago Blue Care Network in Michigan changed the subscribers account number from their social security number to a random number to minimize the chance for identity theft. My business goes to great length to protect people’s identity. Yet, for those who think “The Government” is here to help please know that federal bureaucracy will put you at risk but will not be responsible if your identity is stolen because of their policy. It is one more endless example of how Congress dictates rules and regulations without understanding the consequences.

    44. 2dokie says:

Also, they can create legions of jobs that improve nothing or create nothing, but absolutely refuse to enact a national sales tax and realize all the effeciencies and business environment improvements that would make, because they aren't smart enough to understand the benefits. Besides it would force a bunch of accountants to have to retrain to do something of value until industry recovered to where they could be reemployed as accountants.

    45. Steven, Louisiana says:

It is obvious states that supported the liberal agenda, Nevada and California, as well as entities, such as labor unions, get waivers, due to the fact that Obama is really trying to harm states that lean Republican. I bet Texas and other conservative states don't get waivers for their businesses. This president is partial to his friends, not Americans in general, which is a horrible problem.

    46. Yellowbird says:

Clearly proves this administration tops the list when it comes to corruption and sewage. What incompetent fool would ever think that favored waivers would ever salvage this junk legislation? And what totally stupid individual would ever approve it?

    47. JS NYC says:

Please print an APPLICATION FOR AN OBAMACARE WAIVER on your website so that those of us who want one may apply. Perhaps the whole nation will apply and maybe then ObamCrats will get the message that no one in his right mind wants ObamaCare.

    48. JS NYC says:

Will all the think tanks and Congressional websites please

print AN OBAMACARE WAIVER APPLICATION on your websites

and advertise it on talk shows – so that we the people may apply for waivers?

MAYBE THEN OBAMACRATS WILL UNDERSTAND that we the people don't want Obamacare.

    49. Steven, Louisiana says:

I hope Rick Perry runs for president. We'll see how Obama's agenda quickly gets scrapped.

    50. Steven, Louisiana says:

JS, you are correct; but, you are forgetting that we got Obama as president, verifying that a majority of people in America aren't in their right minds, which is extremely scary to say the least.

    51. Roseanne Dayton, OH says:

If Obamacare was such a great plan, why didn't Congress vote to participate in it themselves? Please, John Boehner, make sure everyone in your party pounds this issue in 2012. Figure out a way to keep the message simple and to the point, KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) and pound away.

    52. Jill-Maine says:

How anyone in this day and time could want the government to run anything let alone their health care is beyond me. They do have death panels and these bureaucrats would decide if you get specialized treatment or the hospice chute.

You have to be crazy to think this is able affordability, health or care.

    53. Shirley Barrow, Oreg says:

We have lazy representatives who did not read the Obamacare Bill. Perhaps if they had done so, they would have seen that it was a bad bill. Those that are a party to it and now get waivers for their districts are a disgrace. I also want to know how many other 'entitlements' were hidden in this bill. I would like to see this bill repealed even before 2012

    54. pcsrocky says:

If Obamacare is so great, there should be NO waivers for anyone, including the Legislators who passed it!!

If you have to have waivers, repeal the bill completely. A waiver implies, that for some reason, a group of people with be excessively adversely impacted.

    55. Kyle, MD says:

I STRONGLY CONCUR, repeal this rape of the the American taxpayer now!

    56. Donna, Houston, TX says:

I would love to know how to apply for a waiver for my doctor. He does not take Medicare; therefore as of July he will no longer be able to write orders for lab work for his Medicare patients. I guess according to Obamacare he's no longer capable of making those decisions. How many other ridiculous dictates are in Obamacare that we still don't know about. How do I get this waiver application?

    57. Scott...... Lake Osw says:

Can't understand why anyone would want a waiver. I love the law that was passed. Finely everyone has to have insurance! that way the rest of us don't have to pay for the dead beats that choose to not be insured and don't want to pay for the health care they receive…..

    58. Carol,AZ says:

Thank You, Mike Brownfield for publishing this recent corruptive action by CA. You have my admiration .

It furtrher reinforces the corruption THAT is America.

The accurate description of: "food stamp nation" , the nanny state-of-the-union and becoming what CA has always been; Solid and fouled for favorism, special interests and kissing the ring of Queen Nancy.

Every state in our Union must apply for this a wavier en masse.

Let see if the CA system works!

    59. Steven, Louisiana says:

The reason we want a waiver is because the government doesn't have a right to make citizens buy a government coerced policy that costs more money, gives less benefits, and makes it harder to see your doctor. Besides that, Obamacare is just swell!!! Oh yeah, If you don't pay, you also get to go to jail. Obama, Stalin couldn't have thought of a better ponzi scheme.

    60. Jude, s CA says:

Bill, Of course,Obamacare is unconstitutional, has been ruled so, but so are all his orders that violate the Constitution AND other law, but no one seems to be willing to sacrifice their cushy political jobs to uphold our rights, our freedoms & our honor.

Read Dinesh de Sousa's latest and you will see O. is only motivated by hate, anger and any other negative emotions.

    61. michael j mudrak car says:

Obama care is a crime against humanity and those who supported it should be

charged accordingly. There is no perfect crime there has to be a mistake that the

made it needs to be found and acted upon. Rid our government of these criminals!!!

    62. Brad S., Detroit, MI says:

Single payer health care will control costs ? What planet are a couple of you lunatic liberal progressives living on ?

Government intervention has NEVER reduced costs. It stifles competition and innovation (public schools), loses tremendous amounts of money despite being a monopoly (standard postal service), and will only result in rationing – see Great Britain for prime example.

The replacement options are numerous, but politically unattractive. Our political system has been co-opted by special interest groups, so the real solution – trying to revise the health care "3rd party payer" system so the customer knows how much it costs – will probably never see the light of day.

    63. hugh dana. placentia says:

re: Mr Brownfield's column on Obamacare waivers (printed today on my e-mail, 5/19/11):

The horribly corrupt true facts , listed in his excellent article, leads to why I don't

give to HF nor the GOP, and am giving tons, monthly, as a wealthy M.D., to the Tea Party only.

You should be bombarding the networks that Independents watch, with millions of tv ads, NOW, about this possible Felony situation of the waivers. 2nd, you should be using a massive ,near total, Negatiive campaign approach , as we speak, towards obama. It works, right? Not timidity, no negative words, etc: it loses, right?. Third, you should be extremely aggressive in noting that 99% of the time, the Truth is reliably the exact opposite of what obama is saying at that moment..Everything he has said since the 1st day of his campaign has been an incredibly skilled, impossible to detect, lie, 180 degrees opposite of the truth. Why aren't you and the gop exposing this huge elephant(that he is the most intensive liar in the history of the USA) in the room? More and more of my $ is going to the tea Parties, and we're going to actively get rid of RINO's and useless old orgs, like ?HF?

Also, why aren't there more lawsuits against him? Are these czars legal? Why aren't you cowards using the word Impeachment??!!!! He has already broken many laws, such as the overt buying of votes for $, such as $300 million to Landrieau and she suddenly and subsequently, inexplicably changes her vote on obamacare,

Please send this letter to some higher-ups at the gop . I'll start giving mucho $ if they will start doing these things.

But not until. I'm sure I represent a good percentage of of frustrated and furious former gop-ers, but NOW we've had it. goal to get rid of the RINO's and groups that change No minds, because all they do is preach to the choir, and nobody else. wonder who.

Why does no one note that it is interesting that, if you wanted to make a plan to slowly de-power, neuter, and make the USA more into an impotent 3rd world country, for some unknown reason, that that plan would look very similar to obama's first 2 years? I do get the impression that we are a less relevant country in the world now than 2 years ago, but I may be wrong. I mean, are you better off now than you were 2 years ago??!!… Absolutely!!!!!

Scott, I don't know how you figure it's good to make people have medical Ins. The cost will go up, look at other gov't run programs, second you will be paying for all those on Medicaid and welfare, as you do now but he cost will be a lot more. Those who don't buy Insurance still have to pay their bills or ruin their credit, those that cannpot pay their bills are already on the dole or will apply for help. I am a Nurse and I know that in every hosp. I worked in Soc. SEr. reps called on the uninsured to set up payment schedules or refer them to organizatons that would help. Doctors have for ages ( got a lot of them in my family) given pro-bono care or reduced cost, again there is Medicaid and they have an organization for spec. insurance for all children who's parents fall in the gap between medicaid and Insurance. The change needs to be deregulating Insurance Cos. let them cross state lines and compete in a fair market.

One of the biggest lies about the obamacare program is that they in any way matter. They don’t and that is why they are given out so freely. The truth is, and those who wrote this masterpiece (and it is a masterpiece of deception) know, is that actually NONE OF IT MATTERS! This act has nothing to do with health care… and everything to do with setting up an infrastructure and destroying the current health care system. When the health care system collapses, the infrastructure is in place. It is actually quite ingenious. AND THEY KNOW IT! That is why all of the law suits are left to languish in limbo. All they have to do is stall and then everything… and I do mean “everything” will fall into place. So, pay no attention to the waivers. It is all meant as a diversion. Pay attention to what they are actually very busy doing setting up the infrastructure and the regulations. That is where the “real” money is going. And, oh yeah, the act can not be defunded no matter what some say. It is funded through so many other pieces of legislation. That was one of the things that shocked me when I read it — the fact that this act uses all of the other laws as vehicles in order to fund it. BUT NO ONE HAS NOTICED THAT!

    67. Steven, Louisiana says:

I think doctors should hold out and buck back against government coercion and the destruction of their profession. I attend med school in louisiana, and the majority of the curriculum focuses on how great and magnificent this plan is and how those against it are racist individuals who hate poor people. Every government program passed, supposedly to help the poor, has in effect harmed them. For instance: minimum wage laws caused more minority unemployment, red-lining and making banks loan to unqualified poor individuals created an environment where loans could never be paid back, and Obamacare will destroy the ability of the poor to see a doctor or get much needed medicine. Thanks for voting for an idealogue! He's just what the doctor ordered. Or is he?

    68. Jean St. Pete says:

Chicago crony-ism at its best. WAKE UP AMERICA. We have corrupt politicians running a great Constitutional system and we keep voting these idiots in. Being a Senator or a Congressman and especially a President are to vote on matters that help the Country as a whole not for the individual states that these so-called representatives are voted in from. The three stooges (Obama. Reid, and Pelosi) are brining this great but not arrogant nation to its knees. Thank you all you politicians that put your agendas ahead of the security of America. I hope you enjoy your life.

    69. Phil Murfreesboro TN says:

WE need to stop all of Obama's costly bills.Obama care is just the first of many.

    70. osw,CA says:

Pelosi is a true symbol of the San Francisco Bay area elitist attitude. Harry Reid is a true symbol of the "con the suckers" attitude of Las Vegas. Did anyone who fought against this abomination truly expect anything less than what is happening? The only ones who should be suprised are those who do not understand socialism, totalitarianism and the plain old human foible of believing you are better than someone else and therefore deserve to be treated differently.

We have the best foundation and game plan for human prosperity and happiness ever presented IF we only follow the game plan and rule book. WE are Americans. We are NOT multicultural, we have taken the best from every culture and created our own. We are not perfect but we are a damn sight better than whatever is second.

    71. c. williams says:

We must educate the masses (latino's and all) to vote all the crap and corruption dished out by the Progressive Liberals, they must be outed in 2012. To save America we must totally clean house, do everything possible to stop voter corruption and block all the illegal scams Hussein will use to remain the Dictatorship he hopes to maintain. AMERICAN'S ARE NOT FOOLS BUT UNEDUCATED AND TRUSTING. WE MUST EDUCATE AND DUMP THE DEMS AND RINOS AND GET IN TRUE CHRISTIAN AMERICAN CONSERVATIVES. WE MUST PROTECT OUR FREEDOMS AND CONSTITUTION AND OUR RELIGIONS, NO SHARIAH LAW IN AMERICA.

    72. marvinlzinn says:

I do appreciate the medical care I get from Veterans Administration. I co-pay a small amount, and your taxes pay for most of it. But the type you choose and how you pay for yours is none of their business. You should also have the choice of what the taxes you pay will be used for, and this should be from the state you live in. Federal responsibility is national defense PERIOD!

And NO, I will not ask for or accept any vaccination! This is the wrong procedure, and kills more than it saves.

    73. Frank Norton, San Fr says:

Obamacare has been determined to be unconstitutional by the Suprime Court. Obamacare is not a product of the American people – I didn't get to vote for it – nor did the elected Republicans. It is a product of closed door democratic tyranny! Lets keep our citizens free and give the entire country a waver.

    74. JSNYC from NYC says:

      Q. Does anyone have an OBAMACARE WAIVER APPLICATION FORM that we all may apply for…as I don't know anyone who would voluntarily opt in especially since our President, his Congress and bureaucrats have apparently all been opted out!

    75. JSNYC says:

RE; HOW TO GET AN 'ASSOCIATION' WAIVER
I worked very hard to obtain an "association' long term health care group plan for a national society in the State of NY in the 1990's and wonder if it is possible to obtain a WAIVER for the people on this group health plan. I also wonder why all associations shouldn't receive waivers as well.

    76. Jack says:

I just want a waiver, how do I get one.
