  • Wisconsin Judge Proves Government Unions Aren't Only Ones in Need of Reform

Should it be any surprise that in a state like Wisconsin that has been under the thrall of liberals for far too long, a local judge has issued a temporary restraining order against the collective bargaining law recently passed by the legislature? Or that the judge sees nothing wrong with interfering directly in the legislative process?

Judge Maryann Sumi issued her one-sentence order without a written explanation. The complaint filed by Democratic District Attorney Ismael Ozanne claims that a meeting of the Joint Committee of Conference on the collective bargaining bill in the “Senate Parlor” of the state capitol was apparently a horrible crime because it is “not reasonably accessible to the public.” And access to the capitol building had been “restricted.”

Oh, horrors! Of course, the D.A. fails to mention that access had been restricted to prevent union thugs from trashing the buildings – oops, I guess that didn’t work since those union agitators inflicted a fortune’s worth of damages. Ozanne also claimed that the two-hour notice given before the committee meeting violated a joint rule of the legislature requiring 24 hours notice, therefore violating the state’s open records laws.

But as Christian Schneider of the Wisconsin Policy Research Institute pointed out over at NRO, that 24-hour rule doesn’t apply to a special session bill, “which gives it a completely different status than a regular bill.” Senate Rule 93(2) states that “notice of a committee meeting is not required other than posting on the legislative bulletin board, and a bulletin of committee hearings may not be published.” So Schneider says not even the two hours that the Democrats actually got was required.

But once again we have an apparently activist judge violating the very essence of separation of powers inherent in all state constitutional governments and interpreting an internal legislative rule of a legislative body. They don’t just need to clean out the bloated public sector unions in Wisconsin’s government; they obviously need to clean up the out-of-control judiciary, too.

Does anyone think that Obama and his lackey Holder are not behind this judge's

unjustified blockage as well as the DEMOCRAT AG's complaint?

    4. Pragmatic in Texas says:

If the bill was legally passed, then why isn't the Wisconsin legislative body just IGNORING the order? If it's good enough for Obama… let the progressives have a taste of their own medicine. Honest, fiscal conservatives have played too nice for far too long.

    5. William Person says:

So Jimmy, where would you be proud to live and have you enough for transportation?

While we are on the subject of Lawless Judges, Justice Elena Kagan was awarded her job for subverting American Law, essentially selling out Harvard Law School to the Demolition Plutocrats! They have a spoils system. I can't say what the Quid Pro Quo was that got Judge Sume her job. Wacky as the Progressives are, it could have been they liked her name "Sue Me!" I think activist judges are Conspirators to Treason. The explanation was left out because it really is crazy. "The Court believes the Union has the right to destroy (bankrupt) Wisconsin and cannot allow the Governor to stop it!"

Justice Kagan is perfectly crazy, she doesn't plan to use the Declaration Of Independance in her Rulings because she doesn't believe in American Citizen Sovereignty! The Quid Pro Quo of giving Obama his Harvard Law Review job, and why? Because the President is a Third Generation Communist? Judge Sume's perfidy is your peek into America's Communist future. All of it is High Crime, but like the fable of the Emperor's New Clothes these Obama sycophants can't see them. Correction "Won't See," and that is criminal. They are measurably destroying America! The Damages are everywhere. Remember Judge Vinson's Order? The Government is asking for Totalitarian Powers. Just asking is criminal.

As a resident of Wisconsin I can report some good news on the front lines. Many school district and municipalitie meetings have been highly attended not by union thugs – but by taxpayers – making their voice heard and stating very clearly that no contracts will be signed until after the enactment of the Governors bill.

Of course you won't see this on the 6 o'clock news – but there is a silent majority that is not only attending meetings, but patronizing businesses that the unions are trying to boycott (we affectionally call it the buycott).

We are not out of the woods yet with the Dane County Judiciary, but in the end the bill will take effect and Wisconsin will be better for it!

    8. Bobbie says:

too many in government prove to be unfit for the job as tax dollars continue to waste away on these government misfits of no accountability and nobody's better than me.

Yeah, government judges of no integrity and indecency need removal…

True judges hold no bias, this judge IS!

    9. Pete, Houston Texas says:

I agree with the thought above that Wisconsin should just ignore the ruling of the judge. Works for the federal government, so it should work for the state government.

    10. Corky, Howey in the says:

Well, I guess we can just fire all senators and government officials and let the Courts run everything. This woman judge seems to have a lot ot Extra time on her hands to run her court and the Wisconsin State Government as well. This is really a sad time for the United States…………

    11. hawaii says:

they should just ignore the "judge." She has no business sticking her nose in the legislature's affairs.

    12. Robertus, CA says:

The only place that government has in education is as subject matter in a course on government.

    13. Glenn Drennen says:

Every judge should be accountable to some authority and that includes Supreme Court judges. When lawless federal judges get into lock step with a lawless administration, we then have a recipe for another Nazi Germany. Don't think that Hitler didn't use a lot of the techniques that Obama is using today, except that Obama cannot send people out to round up groups of people and execute them before dawn. Even our libral lame-stream media wouldn't be able to justify or cover up such actions. Judge Sumi gave no explanation for her ruling because there was no legal foundation or precedent. It simply satisfied the leftists, liberals, and union bosses, people with whom she is closely aligned, and therefore unable to make an unbiased decision. At the very least, Judge Sumi should experience a huge demotion if not termination.

    14. Steve in Pa says:

Although we true patriot americans are hard working, we may have to make time to show our disapproval where ever the Left have made decisions that are treasonous, in our local areas whether it is school board , city gov't. Where ever stupid leftist say something stupid , dont stay quiet, we have to do more than go to tea party rallies. Meet em where the rubber meets the road.
