  • Heritage in Focus Roundtable: Herman Cain, Gas Prices and Budget

In this week’s Heritage in Focus Roundtable, Heritage panelists discuss this week’s Blogger’s Briefing with special guest Herman Cain, gas prices and the budget.

Just under one year since passage, Obamacare has already taken its toll on businesses, which is why the recent address by Herman Cain (former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza and current talk radio host) is especially important. Cain makes clear that government price setting fundamentally skews the marketplace: “The people who are promoting these radically liberal policies have no concept of how the economics differ for different sectors of the economy.”

Check out his full remarks, here.

Also, as the economic recovery continues worldwide, gas prices are pushing up on $4 per gallon. What’s contributing to this rise in price?

And if those two issues aren’t pressing enough on our economy, let’s not forget about the budget. Another short-term continuing resolution was passed this week, cutting $6 billion from the budget and extending funding until April 8th. When will these short-term patches end — are we looking at a government shutdown after this one? Listen to this podcast to hear the answers to those questions and more.

    1. Andrew, VA says:

He's also running for president. Worth noting, don't you think?

    2. Robert H. Davidson says:

Herman Cain may have been the CEO of God Father Pizza. I just can't imagine going form CEO of God Father Pizza to Radio Talk Show Host to President. Don't get me wrong, I like Mr. Cain very much just not as President of the USA. Pizza, Monetary policy, International and domestic law just don't mix.

    3. Bobbie says:

Mr. Cain is a wonderful man! We thank him for the life he lives to be the strong, intelligent, fair and honest man he is. His ideas are in line with the American leadership needed to bring America back. We wish him well always and look forward to seeing and hearing more of him.

    4. Wes in cincy says:

At this point in time any republican would be better than what we got.

The Democrats are the bottleneck to getting anything done right now.

They have become the new " party of no ".

    5. Stirling, Pennsylvan says:

He's the polar opposite of Obama when it comes to knowing what works and what does not work in the world today. This is why the Left is so bent on attacking him. Can you imagine the black voters actually hearing and believing the message that they are not "Victims" of the system, but can actually succeed on their own without someone speaking for them. I applaud Mr. Cain for speaking his mind and standing up for his beliefs.

    6. jweb says:

Wow…I submitted a post regarding Mr. Cain and his Federal Reserve and CFR connections and it was permitted by Heritage. Interesting…Cain is a puppet for the ruling class elite. They want to continue to control the right and left establishment.

Support the Constitution…Ron Paul 2012…no Fed or CFR connections.

    7. Bob Sloneker Otterta says:

Mr Cain has a positive record for accomplishing something and he openly is concerned and respectful of our country. He has made it a long way in life and is respected. He appears to be able to hold a basic conversation without a teleprompter telling him what to say. Admit it America we were dooped in 2008 but we can correct it in 2012. Mr Cain and Colonel West from Florida are top notch respected people in my book and we need their type leadership —not what we presently have.
