  • Senator DeMint on School Choice

South Carolinians for Responsible Government has produced a new video featuring Senator Jim DeMint (R–SC) on the importance of school choice. DeMint outlines the keys to achieving educational success not just in South Carolina but in the rest of the country:

If we want true innovation in education to reach the widest range of student interests, aptitudes and learning styles, we need to follow the model of other states like Pennsylvania, Florida, and Arizona who have made school choice for families a reality.

Uniformity within the educational system stifles children’s performance when they are not given the opportunity to grow. The “one-size-fits-all” approach is failing students nationwide. Families should be given the opportunity to choose the best possible school for their children. As Senator DeMint argues, school choice would empower parents and help better educate children.

We have to bring back the truth and facts in texts. I recently heard a school being advertised as "non-political." Maybe it was a dream? But kids deserve the facts in everything regarding education/history, in someone elses control and political correctness removes those facts.

What's the purpose of political correctness? To protect sensitivities to give some a sense of purpose? Get the political correctness out ALL DESERVE THE FACTS AND ALL CAN GET OVER WHATEVER government influence MADE THEM SO SENSITIVE TO. Have to close the education gap? Dummying down many so another can feel good.superficially?

Personal Challenges and achievements no longer exist in public schools, someone's feelings might be hurt. My Lord! But because their's a better chance their feelings won't get hurt, give them dignity. Students minds shouldn't be compromised for the sake of political ignorance or someone elses feelings.

One of the best proposals a recent US President made was to permit educators to teach in public schools if they had equivalent education experience as compared to the qualifications of the usual NEA endorsed teachers. That president was mocked, jeered, and vilified by both the unions and the "main stream media." However, I think it was a very good idea. Would you prohibit Van Clyburn from teaching piano to students in any public school because he wasn't "qualified" to be a member of the NEA? School districts are presently in this predicament through standards from the Department of Education as well as from contractual obligations with the NEA. This type of short sightedness prohibits some of our best talent in all areas of study and expertise from teaching our children. This measure alone will not reform the education system in the USA but it will be a first step to encourage and attract high quality teachers for our children and schools.

I am happy to see such a fine video about School Choice! Trouble is Republicans have been crying for School Choice for Fifty Years! And we still don't have it! Pardon me if don't cheer the effort! What has been done in the way of Fraud to American Schoolchildren is like the Junk Medicine that has driven simple Health Care over the Moon! We have to face the fact the Demolition Plutocrats (Demo-crats) will not allow Americans to run their own Education Systems! The States might throw out all of their precious Socialist Indoctrination! It was so expensive for the Progressives to supplant Public Education with Socialization! They will not let Republicans waste that "Investment!"

Home Schooling has always proved that anything is better than Public Schools for Education. The Progressive Curriculum is Junk! Junk Educational 'science' has replaced real Knowledge. Guess what! We have educated our kids for ten thousand years, but all of that Knowledge is ignored by this 'evolved' bunch of Junk Scientists! You will not budge these Progressives without Impeaching and Prosecuting their treasonous Conspiracty. They fully intended to destroy American Education, and for political purposes, they succeeded! Progressives will fight you tooth and nail about every good thing you propose!
