  • Ahmadinejad at the U.N.: Half-baked Conspiracy Theories

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad again made news at the U.N. General Assembly yesterday by suggesting that 9/11 terrorist attack was orchestrated by the U.S. government in a plot that somehow would boost its economy and help Israel.

The U.S. delegation walked out before the tiny tyrant could finish his regurgitation of various half-baked conspiracy theories. It will be interesting to see what other delegations walked out, rather than listen to such nonsense.

Ahmadinejad also announced that Iran will host a conference on terrorism next year. That should be a fascinating conference because Iran’s ruthless regime has a long history of terrorism and remains the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism.

This is not the first time that Ahmadinejad has spouted conspiracy theories about the 9/11 attacks. Earlier this year he claimed that Osama bin Laden was in Washington. What a relief that President Obama yesterday stated in his U.N. speech that the “the door remains open” for engagement with Ahmadinejad’s nasty regime.

As far as Ahmadinejad's speech statement that 9/11 could have been orchestrated by the US, wasn't there something in the news that the defense department "mis-

placed" some three trillion dollars a day or so before?? Conspiracy, consequence,

or just plain interesting theory? Who will ever know…probably nobody. We still need to bend our knee and pray it (9/11) or worse never, ever happens especially in these times. There are a lot of parallels to the "Left Behind" series and what's happening in our country, or what's left of it, right now. Frightening. Let's pray.

Write Amadimajad into my Cosmic Comic Book, what a character! "Give him enough rope to hang himself" didn't work out too well for Europe in the Thirties. So it looks like Allah's chosen vessel has a 'few' defects, but does Allah really want to wipe out the Iranians? My theory is murdering has that side effect, it drives the murderer crazy. Gee! Look around here and see who else is crazy!

    3. Jeanne Stotler, Wood says:

Boycot Iran, They have been fighting and trying to take over the world since they overthrew the Shah, BHO is just giving in to them only to be insulted. We need a Congress and Pres. that will stand up for the USA not grovel at the feet of these people.

    4. Brad, Detroit, MI says:

And Obama wants to employ diplomacy with this lunatic ? Who's more foolish – the fool or the fool that follows him ?

    5. Disenchanted Journo says:

The walk out made sense in context, but the U.S. Government, western mediam and those who don't understand how the Iranian government functions make way top much out of Ahmadinejad's rambling, empowering a man who has no real power. – http://disenchantedjourno.blogspot.com/2010/09/th

    6. Drew Page, IL says:

I can't believe that America has a Commander-In-Chief that's afraid of this twerp. Am I the only one out here who wants to slap the stubble of this guy's face?

    7. Bobbie says:

President Mahmoud, people chose to carry out an act other people told them to. Those are the people that are accountable, in the name of their admitted faith.

    8. Gipper1980 says:

Aside from the fact that the Iranian president is an Islamic puppet and certifiable loon, doesn't it strike anyone that this conspiracy blather he's publicly spouting is the exact same vomitus that comes from the 9/11 truthers?

It's incredible that these American 9/11 Conspiracy believers don't see the parallel!

Were I one of them, I'd have to seriously reconsider my position…and outright retract the entire theory. How can anyone agree with the Muslim nutjob masquerading as head of a country still living in the Middle Ages???

    9. Sammy Finkelman, New says:

      >> Aside from the fact that the Iranian president is an Islamic puppet and certifiable loon, doesn’t it strike anyone that this conspiracy blather he’s publicly spouting is the exact same vomitus that comes from the 9/11 truthers?

Is that something that requires a lot of involved thinking??

Of course this is the 9/11 truther conspiracy. What that might tell some people is that Iran is behind the 9/11 truther conspiracy theory.

And there is independent evidence for that. If Iran didn't originate the idea, it – or iots propaganda outlets – certainly joined in very early.

A week after September 11th, 2001 , Hezbollah (which is an Iranian puppet) claimed on its TV station, Al Manar,

that this was an inside job and the proof was that 4,000 Jews had been warned and stayed away.

CBS News consultant Milt Bearden ran the CIA's Afghan war against the Soviets in the 1980s. Today, Bearden worries that America faces a new kind of threat that it doesn't yet understand.

"You couldn't even get a bad movie put out with a science fiction story line like this," says Bearden. "But yet that one caught on very quickly throughout that part of the world… This current war that we're in now is the first war in the information era… information, misinformation, disinformation."

Bearden says the story of the 4,000 Jews is an example of the new kind of threat we face.

There's always been a belief in the so-called "Jewish conspiracy" in the world of Islam. But it seems now to have just taken off, and gone into the almost unbelievable stratosphere.

How the myth of the 4,000 Jews became reality in the minds of Muslims around the world is a cautionary tale from the dark side of the information age.

It began on Sept. 13 in Jordan when rumors of Israeli involvement in Sept. 11 surfaced as news stories in two Arab papers.

The next day, a crucial element was added: the figure 4,000. That was the number of telephone calls an Israeli ambassador told reporters had come into his government from worried Israelis unable to contact their relatives in New York.

Then on Sept. 17 in Beirut, al Manar, a television station controlled by the radical Islamic group Hezbollah, aired the full fantasy for the first time. Billed as a special investigative report, al Manar claimed that 4,000 Israelis employed at the World Trade Center had not shown up for work on Sept. 11.

The next morning, this tale hit the Internet and began moving from one Islamic Web site to the next. In the days and weeks that followed, the story spread like wildfire all across the Muslim world, surfacing in newspapers, radio and TV reports and talk shows in Iran, Egypt, Pakistan and beyond

In just a matter of days, one falsehood piled on top of another and passed on to audiences around the globe had produced "the big lie" – a lie now accepted as fact throughout the Muslim world.

Most Americans probably would say that's ludicrous. And they also might say that if certain people want to believe it, there's not much to be done about it.

But Bearden says, "That's been the way Americans go at it. We say, 'Let them believe what they like.' You know: 'Sticks and stones.' Well, guess what? That doesn't work any more. We've got to come to deal with that."

As an example of how quickly lies can lead to violence, Bearden points to the 1979 incident at the U.S. embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan. At Friday prayers, a mullah told a fantastic tale of American and Israeli soldiers marching on the holy city of Mecca. Within minutes, thousands of Pakistanis headed for the U.S. embassy and onto newscasts around the world.

From CBS Evening News: "The invaders ran shooting through the corridors, took over the roof and set fires, reportedly with Molotov cocktails…"

Adds Bearden, "And a lot of Americans barely escaped through a hatch onto the roof. Otherwise, it would have been an even greater disaster. That is just simply the information thing just going crazy."

Two Americans and two Pakistani employees were killed. The embassy burned to the ground. And all because of a rumor.

Hezbollah TV: "The Jews did it"

If Al-Qaida "did not do it", then who did? The Jews and the Israeli Mossad, of course! (Apart from Bush, the U.S. military-industrial complex and the CIA.) The first to "reveal" Jewish involvement in the 9/11 attacks was the Hezbollah Television Channel "Al-Manar." On 17 September 2001 Hezbollah TV made the assertion that some 4000 Jews who worked in the Twin Towers had not shown up for work on the morning of September 11, 2001.[25] Two days later the story was picked up by the popular Arabic News Channel Al-Jazeera, adding that those 4000 Jews had been warned by their government.[26] Mohammed Bakri, a journalist from Al-Manar TV, admitted in 2006 that there no was proof for these allegations, yet he still considered it very likely.[27] The rumor about the 4000 Jews was quickly accepted by the Arab media as incontrovertible fact. Syrian ambassador to Tehran Turky Muhammad Saqr said at a conference at the Iranian Foreign Ministry: "Syria has documented proof of the Zionist regime's involvement in the September 11 terror attacks on the U.S.," and that "4000 Jews employed at the WTC did not show up for work before the attack clearly attests to Zionist involvement in these attacks."[28] Note that Syria and Iran are Hezbollah's main sponsors. Dr. Gamal Ali Zahran, head of the political science faculty at Suez Canal University, Egypt, wrote in the Egyptian government daily "Al-Ahram": "At the WTC, thousands of Jews worked in finance and the stock market, but non of them were there on the day of the incident. Out of 6,000 killed, of 65 nationalities from 60 countries, not one was a Jew!!" [29]

This is another outrageous claim. In fact, about 400 Jews died in the attacks on the WTC on 9/11 and they are remembered by Jewish communities in New York and elsewhere.[30] Others are still missing: you will find a lot of Jewish names in the official New York City "Missing Persons List."
