  • Voter ID and Illegal Aliens

The latest Rasmussen poll on voter ID is sure to frustrate liberal advocacy organizations like the NAACP and the League of Women Voters that oppose commonsense proposals to ensure the integrity of our election process. They have been waging a losing litigation battle against states to try to prevent them from implementing photo ID requirements.

Rasmussen reports that an overwhelming majority of likely voters (82 percent) believe all voters should show photo ID before they are allowed to vote (that includes a majority in every demographic group). Only 14 percent disagree. This is the highest level of support for photo ID since Rasmussen started polling the question in 2006.

On a related issue, the majority of voters said ballots should be printed only in English. The Justice Department, by contrast, has threatened to sue Cuyahoga County, Ohio, unless it prints ballots in Spanish.

And 56 percent of voters oppose the Justice Department’s lawsuit against Arizona over its immigration law. In fact, 54 percent think Eric Holder should be spending his time suing sanctuary cities, something the Justice Department has specifically said it will not do.

A majority (59 percent) also hope that their own states will pass a law similar to Arizona’s, which helps explain why CNS is reporting that 22 states “are now in the process of drafting or seeking to pass legislation similar to Arizona’s law against illegal immigration.”

Forcing the Justice Department to wage litigation battles in 22 states would be a good tactic both legally and politically. There is no doubt that it would lead to numerous losses by Justice in court decisions completely contrary to the legally dubious decision issued by the Arizona judge. Politically, it would help illustrate the complete bankruptcy of the Obama administration’s enforcement policy to citizens in every state.

    1. John, Santa Clarita, says:

Why is there an issue with people having to show their driver's license when they vote? Shouldn't it be required to do so to prevent voter fruad?

    2. Chris Blackburn, Kan says:

This is a ridiculous question!!! Of course people should be required to show a government issued ID to vote. The fact that it isn't already required makes me incredibly angry! How did we let it come to this?

    3. Richard Rausch, Bloo says:

I am an Election Judge Supervisor and yes, I believe everyone should have to show a picture ID to vote. Right now about 60% show one without being asked.

      Richard

    4. Jeff says:

this should a platform plank for the 2010 and 2012 election seasons …

the public supports it … it is in line with conservative priciples and Democrats look like the fools they are when they attack it …

same thing with anchor chains … No, not anchor babies … let the kids keep their citizenship right, just cut off the family from using the child as an anchor …

again the public would support it …

    5. Elizabeth Johnson, I says:

Indiana implemented the ID to Vote law a few years back. I have never been put out by this and believe it's the only way to run a legitimate election. I always have my drivers license with me but couldn't begin to tell you where my voter ID card is. The whiners tried to fight it but honestly, how can you not have identification on you anyway – it IS the law!!!

The only problem I see with this is that the illegals who are committing identity theft in order to be able to work, are going to be able to vote as well. If they have stolen a citizen's info, don't think for a second that they aren't going to use it to get a license, vote, get welfare and loans and every other benefit us citizens have.

But while that could still be a problem, we still need to take the necessary steps to make sure our elections aren't full of corruption. The only way we will ever have decent lawmakers is if we can vote and know that it is being done without corruption in the background (anybody remember how ole Jed Bush helped his bubby by rigging the counts in FL back in 2000?)

Support showing ID to vote, it's the first step in making sure that votes are only made by those who have the right to vote!!!! This is IMPORTANT to make sure America stays for the Americans!!!!!!

    6. cynthia fraser says:

Everyone should have to show is for everything I've always had to

    7. Scott says:

It is true that a very significant number of illegal aliens vote in our country. Often the only document required is a utility bill, then everything is provided in Spanish, even Spanish translators are there. And we can all bet that some of the politicians are involved in making sure those illegal aliens vote. This is a crime that rises up to heaven, what a shame this is ever allowed.

    8. Billie says:

It's a good way to discriminate against fraud and corrupt votes. Honest elections are much more productive.

    10. TURTLE, TUCSON AZ. says:

LETS SEE, I CAN'T DO ANYTHING WITHOUT SHOWING MY ID BUT THE ILLEGALS WHO WANT TO VOTE DOESN'T WANT TO SHOW PROOF THEY CAN VOTE LEGALLY

ACTULLY I QUIT SHOWING MY ID TO VOTE OVER 10 YEARS AGO WHEN I SWITCHED OVER TO EARLY VOTING BY MAIL, AFTER I LOST MY SPEECH THEY KEPT GIVING ME A HARD TIME AT THE VOTING BOOTH I STOPPED VOTING THAT WAY

WELL NOW THIS YEAR THE POSTAL SERVICE IS MESSING WITH MY VOTING RIGHTS BY HAVING MY MAIL IN BALLOT SENT BACK AND I AM ON THE PERMENANT MAIL IN LIST BUT THEY SAID I MOVED, I HAVE LIVED AT THIS SAME ADDRESS SINCE 1992 SO I HAVEN'T MOVED

SO LOOKS LIKE I WILL BE SETTING THIS ONE OUT, AT LEAST TILL THE POST OFFICE FIXES MY MAIL PROBLEM, ITS ONLY BEEN 3 MONTHS NOW AND THEY STILL HAVEN'T FIXED IT

MY DAUGHTEWR HAD CHANGED HER ADDRESS WHEN SHE MOVED OUT SO WHEN SHE CHANGED HER ADDRESS MY ADDRESS WAS ALSO FORWARDED EVEN THOUGH HER LAST NAME IS DIFFERENT THEN MINE

      THATS GOVERNMENT FOR YOU

    11. C Allen, Nashville T says:

Yes to ID, but what about states like TN who give illegals a drivers license? Even some of the 9/11 terrorists had DLs from this state!

    12. Jeanne Stotler, Wood says:

In 2008 a lot of dead people, Mickey Mouse, donald duck, etc voted and this was upheld. I always show my voters card and Driver's lic. without being asked. I keep my voter's ID behind my drivers lic, and on the other side my nurses lic. no big deal. The fact that offices for both local and federal levels are for sale is dicusting and an insult to the people that they are suppose to serve. These offices need to be decided bu the voters not the lobbiest or who ever that might lose their jobs if the elections don't go their way. It's suppose to be "Goverment of the people, by the people and FOR the people", that is why the Dec. of Independence starts out "WE THE PEOPLE" . As a descendent from a signer I uphold these believes.

    13. Major Man, Houston T says:

The right to vote is a freedom, a cherished freedom, it is our voice; yet, it is abused by illegal aliens with the assistance of our elected officials and their supporters either blatantly or by setting the stage.

Example: In the State of Texas where we are inundated with illegal aliens, who are NOT held accountable to our laws; where we have elected officials who claim that our elderly “might” not vote if a photo ID was required (do you really believe that they give a damn about our elderly voting…me either); then we have the obviously proud hypocrite Gene Green, thought elected to our federal government as a district representative, that made his voice loud and clear in opposition to Photo IDs, but insisted that anyone attending his townhall meetings would have to provide proof that they were residence in his district or they would not be allowed in the meeting…this is the truth, I promise.

We have no protection for our cherished freedom, our cherished right as American citizens in the State of Texas…Photo IDs are not required to vote!

    14. Lloyd Scallan (New O says:

Elizabeth Johnson had better get her hirtory stright before she comments on

voter fraud. If Elizabeth can remember anything, she would remember the national news media claimed victory for Gore before polls closed in many other states, thus caused documented cases of thousands of discouraged voters to leave polling placed before voting. She should also remember the Dems had an army of attorneys standing by to be on the ground in Florida within 6 hours after the stuff hit the fan. She should also remember the "hanging chad" ballard card that the Dems approved before the vote, then tryed to disinvow when the other voter fraud tactics did not work. What "ole Jed Bush" did was follow the voting laws in Florida. What Elizabeth and the other Dems regreat is their attempts to defraud the American voters did not succeed.

    16. jessica, home says:

You know they won't do it because it means they would loose a lot of their votes. You know they mess with the system so they can pick who wins. its the only way Obama got elected!!!!!!

    17. Dennis Georgia says:

Voter ID is a must! We need ID to cash checks, get utilities, drive a vehicle, mostn all we do needs ID. I can not nsee how a voter ID is a problem, except for those that are illegally here, then their ID is fake too.

    18. John, Newport Beach, says:

In California, the pushback against any commonsense attempt to require ID to vote, always involves idiotic and inept references to Jim Crow, poll taxes, property ownership requirements and my favorite "disparate impact on those who choose not to carry identification." As if going around without ID is even an option anymore. Then I realized that the chronically under-identified, as they would put it if given a chance, are the same people Nancy Pelosi referred to as "undocumented citizens," and I refer to as "undocumented democrats." Now I get it.

    19. Bill- Belvidere, IL says:

I just say we to back to the old days, and set up heat sensor turrets and line the border with them.

    20. REV Wright says:

No ID! How can Dems bus blacks from poll to poll if you "be showin ID?" Just sayin……………

    21. Rick, IL. says:

Government issued ID's (Not just a drivers License because let's face facts there are hundreds of thousands of illegal ID's out there now) should have to be shown at the poles, at the drivers license facilities and during traffic stops. If you are not breaking the law why would you care? In today's age of technology one would think that a tamper proof ID could be issued. Further more until the borders of the U.S. are secured and deportation laws are enforced to the extreme there will always be fraudulent votes.

    22. Ben, Washington Stat says:

WHY are people so against showing their ID? There are numerous situations, times and places we show our ID here in WA State.. even when checking in to ER and for other medical services, banking, and more. It's no problem… unless you have something to hide. Wouldn't it be nice if people would stop their whining around, grow up, and quit playing the victim card?

    23. BJ Ft. Myers Fl says:

Think Chigago politics, just about every person in the cementary is a vote as well as all the people (mostly undocumented) from where ever, is also a vote. And then there is the Justice Department that says " We are not going to enforce the voting laws" and encourage the States to expunge the dead and those that are not eligible to vote.

    24. Brian j conway Valat says:

How can any citizen in their right mind not be supportive of a photo ID law. Don't they realize that the country is getting flooded with illegals who would love nothing more than the opportunity to have input on how much of your money should be given to them, and how much of your groceries they can eat? Wake up Uncle Sap! The world is laughing at us.

      Brian Conway

      Kinderhook, N. Y.

    25. Wayne Wiscosin says:

I think we should go both ways. If you do not want to show an ID. We should do the blue thumb. After all if it is good for the 3rd world why not the USA.

    26. Carol,AZ says:

"54 % think Eric Holder should go after Sanctuary cities" "something the justice said they would do."

      Correction:

      When questioned about enforcing the law on sanctuary status to POTUS,,his response was;

"We will not go after sanctuary cities."

So do you really believe that Eric Holder will enforce the laws from there? Push for a National I.D System.., go after sanctuary cities?

Will someone with a brain in America please stand up?

We continue to allow this insanty, Called obstruction of Justice of Federal Law strainght from the Federal GOV't, the Dept. of Justice, and H,L.S. all marching in goose step with POTUS.

In AZ we call call it teason.

What do you call it in Ohio, or Tenn, or Ca?

Ca has been set-up as the court Joker once again, as a swing state for 2012.

Just think America all those undocumentated illegal in CA bussed-in to the voting tolling booth and told,

"you want to live here , get all those freebie incentives ,do as we say , Ca won't deport you , Just ."Vote! We will even supply the p/w for you in SP.

You don' t need to speak Endlish in America any more…

Here is the place we have arrived at, over this issue in America.

22 States have finally found some voice for Startes Rights .

To the 22 States that have study our laws, and further enforced their own, for States Rights rights, you are the brave new world.

To the 28 remaining States, still trying to figure it out , reread the Constitution , and read it again until you get.

      Illegal means against the law.

Do you want people here who are illegal to vote for the due process of laws in the USA for the legal citizerns ?

      You decide.

Thank you great State of TX for standing with AZ and also pro-actively, changing, and enforcing your laws there.

To Orange County, CA you give the rest of us hope.Clearly the passage of laws there is a benchmark for all of CA to admire, and 22 state stand with you, proudly..

      .

    27. Dan,Ohio says:

Showing an I.D. does not go far enough. I think there should be an IQ test and a voting right based on income tax paid.

    28. Pat,SC says:

This LIBERAL attitude is leaving the door open for unscrupulous individuals to defraud the honest hardworking people in this country.

Since when do sqatters in this country, ( Illegals) get the same rights and priveledges as our citizens? They are unconvicted criminals for pete's sake!!!

      It is ludicrious!!!

The whole reason we have laws, is to protect the LAW abiding INNOCENTS. Not the people who are breaking the laws.

Photo ID is required to cash a check or in some cases to use a credit card. It is required at the doctors office. These precautions are to protect, not to harass.

That is why they have these.requirements.

In my opinion, it is those who have "ulterior" motives who are against the photo ID requirements.

    29. Kenny, Phoenix, Ariz says:

If States are issuing drivers permits to illegals, what is preventing them from using

that ID to register and vote? Isn't that what the Dems have in mind?

    30. Bill, Las Vegas says:

I have to show an ID to get on an airplane. I should have to show one when I vote.

    31. Rob, Los Angeles says:

I suggest that all VOTERS take their cameras (cell or other) to the voting area and shoot pictures. Send them to ICE and let them identify all ILLEGAL ALIENS VOTING (Or, let's create a website to collect all pics and use facial recognition and REPORT ILLEGALS to ICE!!!!).

      1) They broke to law entering this country

      2) They are breaking the law by working and NOT PAYING taxes

      3) Now the illegals are trying to dictate the outcome of our politics. They have that right in Mexico (or respective country) and NOT IN THE US.

      4) Last time i got pulled over for traffic violation; someone else was pulled over too; he was illegal, no driver license .. and was given a 'free pass', however I got a STIFF PENALTY. IS THAT FAIR?

Enough of kissing ass to the illegals.

I'm furious. And that stupid bitch babysitter for Whitman (Ca) has broken TOO MANY LAWS, forged all papers, but she, the devil, has now given Brown a 2 digit lead. If I broke that many laws, I'd be in jail for 200 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is it fair to allow illegals to have MORE RIGHTS that we do??????????????

FIGHT BACK, TAKE PICTURES AT THE VOTING AREAS and UPLOAD TO ICE!!!!
