  • Liberals' Deficit Chicken Is Taxpayers' Soaring Eagle

Liberals are desperate to bully or chide the rest of the country into accepting massive new taxes to support the recent federal spending surge. Many opponents who resisted the spending on the grounds that it increased the budget deficit are now being called deficit chickens because they oppose the tax hikes needed to pay for all that spending. This is a particularly nauseating development as the charge comes from those whose actions prove they care not one whit about the nation’s finances. Nauseating or not, however, there is no reason to cave to such frail bric-a-bracs.

Even under normal circumstances, at just over 18 percent the federal tax burden is already too high. Opponents of even higher taxes need to keep this in mind, just as they need to remember that the excessive budget deficit for 2010 and in the following years is not the result of a shortfall in revenue but is due instead entirely to an attempt by Obama and friends to increase the size of government substantially and permanently. Whereas federal spending as a share of our economy is typically just above 20 percent, under Obama’s budget it hits 25.1 percent, according to his own numbers, and stays around 23 percent for the balance of the decade.

Those who fight tax increases are not weak or hypocritical about the budget deficit. The deficit is dangerously high and must come down, or else we risk a fiscal crisis, as a recent Congressional Budget Office (CBO) report makes clear. But there is a higher priority than reducing budget deficits caused by excessive spending, and that is to protect taxpayers from the insatiable appetite of the federal Goliath. Lower taxes would allow individuals to keep more of their own property. It’s their money, not the government’s money on loan or bequest.

Lower taxes generally mean a stronger economy. The favorite tax hikes of the big government brigade like higher taxes on capital income and higher tax rates on small business are precisely those that would do great harm to the economy now and in the long run.

Lower taxes also mean that, deprived of sustenance, the federal Goliath must go on a diet. Spending will have to come back toward historical levels to avert the crisis of which the CBO warns. This would be a victory for the economy, for workers, and for individual liberty.

Lower taxes are evidently what the American people want, which is especially galling to the tax-increase crowd. If the proponents of higher taxes really thought the American people agreed with them and wanted higher taxes, the hikers would not hesitate to bring legislation to the floor of the House to jack up those taxes to fund even more government spending. Why, then, has the imperial Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D–CA) not brought the bill to the floor of the House? Why has no Senator brought such an amendment or bill to the floor of the Senate.

Why? Because the American people would ship them to the dustbin of history in one election. And that is why the Democratic leadership has said it will deal with the expiration of the 2001/03 tax relief after the election—so the voters won’t know how much the Democrats intend to contravene the American will when voters go to the polls. They say there’s no secret plan to raise taxes. They’re planning on it. They’re trying to keep it a secret. Who’s really the chicken now?

It is the supreme goal of the current administration to incite a civil war. The Obama administration will suspend, dilute, abolish our rights and enact tax regulations that further suppress and enrage American Citizens,. this is part of the plan. They will work toward this goal until civil war. DO NOT fall into this trap. Be alert, be vigilant, Become Active by voting for what you believe in. Every American was granted certain inalienable rights. It is time to vote those too liberal out and conserve our resources, rights and our Constitution.I read every word of the following link, you should too: http://ia360629.us.archive.org/1/items/YouDontNee… . It is the manifesto that was adopted by members of the Administration to achieve the destruction of our country and reform it into a Socialistic country. They have already achieved most of this plan, it is our duty to prevent this by voting all those too liberal out of government, both State and Federal.

We know and the dems do too, but they wont say it, and that is raising taxes will not bring in more revenue for there behemoth programs but actually less revenue. Again, they know this. It is not about creating revenue and helpful government programs; it's all about power and control over you and me. That is their addictive obsession. That is why they went against the people and the law to create Obamacare. Every aspect of your life and mine will soon be connected to your health and thus will soon be under government regulation. Americans have been giving up freedoms for many years now but Obamacare is the beginning of Americans losing not some but all freedom afforded to us by our founding Constitution. 9/11 humbled America for about two weeks. The question now is, what will humble America to bring us back to what made us the greatest country in the history of the world. Two devastating world wars didn't bring lower taxes to Europe so what may it be that will do it for us? I'm not sure. What will bring us back to the wisdom of our founding fathers? God? Perhaps. Let us hope so for our children sake. The Heritage Foundation is doing great things but how few are listening. I finish by quoting the Big guy upstairs. "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

While I agree in principal, the "starve the beast" mentality just won't work. We've essentially starved the beast for 40+ years (we've never had a year where the national debt decreased when we started having a debt) and yet we find ourselves in this mess because the gov will simply borrow the money.

Maybe a balanced budget amendment (following GAAP rules) is the only way to reign in our spending binge. Force politicians to spend only the money that was taken in during the previous fiscal year. But good luck trying to get politicians looking to buy votes with other people's property to vote Yea on that.

Deficit Chickens oppose the tax hikes needed to pay for all that spending?

Those who oppose tax hikes, see waste in the increase of government as they have faith in the people who need no hand holding. Have strength in rule and responsibility. Knows and stands for what will work for the people and not for personal political gain or take-over of personal freedom.

I would define deficit chickens, democrat nit wits, who are too scared to be disciplined within a budget. They fear responsibility and prove it by showing none.

Balancing the budget is never going to happen. Both of these parties are progressive (socialist). One more than the other, that's all. The only reason Clinton got some credit for a surplus is because: 1. He had the FED print a lot of paper. .2. No one counted as a debit anything owed for more than 1 day into the future. If you buy a $20,000 car and agree to pay $450.00 per month, how much do you owe?

According to government math, you only owe $450.00. That sounds good when you call your wife from the car lot and tell her you bought a car for $450. She's happy. Someday you will tell her the truth that you really owe $19,550 plus interest. She will blow her stack just like the American people will when they realize the National Debt is over $100,000,000,000,000. (yes Virginia that's a hundred trillion), or 113 trillion I think was the last estimate (before Obamacare).

Government math made easy @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEnDtlfBc18

p.s. Imagine waking up to CNN or ABC one morning and the news anchor announces that the National Debt has just hit $135 trillion dollars!?! Bad news…One of these days they'll have to. Good news…Your grand-kids will get the bill.
