  • Health Care Provisions Buried in The Unemployment Benefits Extenders Bill

Congressional liberals are working overtime. In case you missed it, hidden behind the non-stop news coverage of the health care debate, the Senate-passed extenders bill includes several health care provisions that follow the same flawed policies of the big Stimulus Bill. Once again, these provisions  move the health care system in the wrong direction.

    • COBRA or Nothing. The bill would give premium relief only to those unemployed workers who opt for COBRA coverage. It is well documented that COBRA coverage is one of the most expensive options available to those who lose their jobs. Workers would be better served if they were able to decide whether to use this temporary assistance on COBRA or another more affordable option, including policies available in the individual market.
    • Another Medicaid Bailout. The bill would continue to use federal taxpayer funds to bailout state Medicaid programs. While state budgets are crippled by Medicaid, the solution is not to transfer the cost on the federal taxpayers. Instead, Congress should get serious about Medicaid reform and grant states the flexibility they need to fix the program.
    • More Delay on the Doctor Fix. The bill would delay automatic Medicare reimbursement cuts to doctors. Cleverly, Congressional leaders removed this costly fix from their health care overhaul and instead have kicked the can down the road one more time. This will enable them to say that the health care legislation is deficit neutral. Senate Congressional leaders should get serious about a permanent fix of the Medicare reimbursement for doctors once and for all, and find some way to offset its cost, rather than adding the additional costs to the deficit.

This bill is a good reminder that even if the massive health care overhaul fails, health care is not dead. Ill-advised health care proposals gain support in different forms, and can be enacted in bite-sized bits.

Amidst the Reconciliation of the Health Care Reform Bill, March 2010

Almighty God, our Father in Heaven—

We treasure the privilege to come before Your throne on behalf of the leaders of the people of this nation. You command us, not suggest, to pray for our leaders. We pray that they seek You, your Word, and Your wisdom for these critical times in our nation’s fragile political and economic circumstances.

Draw their hearts and minds to genuine, noble, honorable leadership principles and methods. Open their hearts to be finest stewards possible of the hard earned resources You have blessed this generation with and of those funds they have chosen to borrow on behalf of us, our children and grandchildren. Give them a heart to safeguard and to expand, not encumber or oppress, the personal foundational freedoms You wish for every human being. Give them courage to rethink, reinvent, and renew policies for good and to stand against corruption, mismanagement, neglect, and poor stewardship at every turn.

Father, open their ears to hear the voices of the people. Edify every good, pure, and honorable intention. Purify the process from mishandling, deceit, coercion and bribes. Shine light into every corner–expose every evil and every good. Give protection to all leaders and their families. In these battles, give courage, patience, and strength to the weary and comfort to the broken hearted.

Safeguard everything that is important in this nation to Your eternal purposes in terms of its people, its natural and human resources, its government, and its role in the world. Oh, Father, we ache for Your blessed hand and touch as this health care reform bill combined with the economic crisis interventions seems to rip, to burden, and to challenge the heart of this nation—both the citizens and the leaders.

We cry out to You as people have cried out to You through the ages. Watch over us. Guide us. Purify us. Use us for ALL and ONLY Your good and eternal purposes. Guard and guide the people of this nation. Protect the marriages, families, children, and households who are so spiritually, financially, and politically vulnerable at this time. Help them all to seek You to navigate this unprecedented and ominous part of the journey. Give our leaders pause and care in their actions as they are accountable to You for their actions in exercising that leadership over every precious person You have created and their households.

Please pour Your light and Your wisdom and Your courage in great measure at this time upon every one in our nation, leaders and the led,. that we may bring You great honor and glory in all that we do. Our hope remains rooted in You and Your ways. You alone are worthy. In Jesus’ precious and glorious Name we pray. Amen.

Corruption, fraud, coercion, paperwork and taxes is guarantee from this government administration to all those who built the strength of this country, who are currently fighting for honesty, freedom and independence.

Government definition of "entitlement" – those inferior to carry out their life's responsibilities, accountabilities, their freedoms of choice, without government backing. Which defeats all freedoms.

During his campaign, obama clearly stated he would help the "Blacks" "Asians" "Mexicans," "Indians." He singled out and specified. He could've united all by saying, "I will help Americans that need it." There was one skin color he didn't mention he'd help.

The people know enough about this bill to know it is corrupt and dangerous!

The only honest way is to KILL THE BILL!
