    Tweet of the Week

Representative Aaron Shock (R-IL), currently the youngest member of Congress sent out this tweet on Wednesday in the wake of the first anniversary of President Obama’s failed stimulus bill:

That’s less than [percentage] of people who think Elvis is still alive RT @GOPLeader Only 6 percent of Americans think ‘stimulus’ has created jobs.

As Rep. Shock points out, while roughly 7 percent of Americans believe Elvis Presley is still alive, only 6 percent believe this Administration’s claims that it’s policies have resulted in new jobs. President Obama and his staff spent most of this week trying to demonstrate how the stimulus . But while the Administration has begun to realize that many Americans aren’t buying their rhetoric, they show little signs of changing pace. As we reported in today’s Morning Bell, “The New York Times is reporting that the Obama administration is …  set to introduce their own health care bill on Monday that is specifically designed to pass the Senate through reconciliation on a strictly partisan vote.”

If President Obama and his allies want to appear more credible to the American public, they would be wise to slow down, change course, and pursue policies that have a real chance of elevating both economic growth and public opinion.

    1. John B. San Diego says:

Respectfully and respectively has anyone noticed Obama just throws money at "OUR PROBLEMS" with little or no recognition of "The Trillions” tossed out as if they were the ceremonial first pitch at the World Series?

What does game seven look like? And unlike the World Series is it truly going to be a win?

    2. SB Owner Springfield says:

Living in John Shimkus' district, while working in Aaron Shock's district, my hat is off to both these representatives. Shimkus has held true to values, no on Tarp, stimulus, omnibus, health care, budget, cap n trade. Shock as well for his short time in Congress.

They both get ridiculed for bringing home the bacon while voting against profligate spending.

Pretty sure that's by the same 6% that believe the stimulus is working, however they own the ink, & the microphones.

A Chicago based administration would consider reconciliation? Would have a predetermined bill formulated behind closed doors already agreed to, before the first Republican shows up for Groundhog Day on Feb. 25? You believe Elvis is alive, or what?

    3. Lloyd Welch Valdese, says:

For a year now I have truly thought that Obama, Polosi, and Reid just did not know enough aout economics to make intelligent decisions on the economy. I thought that they were doing, at least in their minds, what they thought best for the nation. Now I am not so sure about this. Surely these people have the mental ability to look at what has been done and if these actions have had a positive outcome or not. They have looked at the outcome of their actions and lied about their effects on the economy. I am beginning to believe that they have the destruction of the US in mind, so they can build a new nation atop the rubble of the old. I am beginning to see this is the only answer that fits..

    4. Kevin Habib, Glen Bu says:

During his appearance on “This Week,” Schwarzenegger was shown a clip of Mitt Romney trashing the $787 billion stimulus bill at the CPAC conference, falsely saying that it hadn’t created any private-sector jobs. The California governor noted the hypocrisy of Republicans, who say that the stimulus created no jobs, while appearing at ribbon-cuttings in their home states taking credit for jobs created by stimulus funds:

“I find it interesting that you have a lot of the Republicans running around and pushing back on the stimulus money and saying this doesn’t create any new jobs,” said Schwarzenegger, who has frequently criticized national Republicans, often on Sunday talk shows. “And then they go out and they do the photo ops and they are posing with the big check and they say, ‘Isn’t this great? Look what kind of money I provide here for the state.’ . . . It doesn’t match up,” said Schwarzenegger.

    5. Don Harper, Lubbock, says:

Mr. Obama warned us with his promise to "funadamentally change" America

and his comment that our Constitution is "flawed". The actions of our "Dear Leaders", Obama, Pelosi and Reid, make sense only if destruction of our economy is the goal.

    6. Lloyd Scallan - New says:

Lloyd Welch – Congratulations! A litttle slow on the up-take, but you finally reconize what Obama, and his lackeys, are doing. They are deliberately "transforming" this nation into their socialist paradise. I sincerely wish

others wake-up to the facts before it's too late to stop this inpending disaster.

    7. ACE SEZ BISHOP, cALI says:

When my buddy Rush Limbaugh said at the begining of Obama's administration

"I hope he fails" the critical response was loud and angry—but Rush's 20+million fans understood his remark–and now a few million Obama voters do too.

OBama, Reid, Pelosi and the majority of elected democrats are truly set on destroying the Constitutional USA Their agenda is so transparent–even tho they perform most of their double-crossing stunts behing closed doors

While newly elected Democrats (and they may outnumber the newly elected Republicans) after 2010 elections–can we hope that collectively they can work closer at turning and rejecting the carzy liberal's destruction determination?

    8. ess-kay, Illinois says:

The progressives do not give a damn about the United States; the end justifies all the means (universal "health care", cap & trade, amnesty for illegal immigrants, population control through federally funded abortion, debasement of Bill of Right freedoms, et. al.); the end being communistic global governance. The next "means" on their agenda is Universal Voter Registration; once they have that, they will have the numbers—and when they have the numbers the voice of conservatism will be silenced—–when the voice of conservatism is silenced, the Land of the Free is no more——when the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave ceases to exist, communism will be the law of the world; nothing will exist to stop it.

    9. Louis L Cesar F LEVY says:

When somebody bothers to put all this overspending under deep scrutiny, he might even find out that somebody, now, tries, in vain, to make things works just as he tried to destroy them.

    10. jack caldwell 195 co says:

Say 7 percent still believe that elvis is still alaive!! It is reported that 25 percent

still belive that mna has never been to the moon..Thats progress

    11. MaryAnn Myers says:

I love both Elvis and Obama, so this article was kind of disappointing. I was hoping it would be more like this:
