  • The Audacity of Hypocrisy: Success in Iraq

Yesterday, on Larry King Live, Vice President Joe Biden stated that the Iraq war could be one of the greatest successes of the Obama Administration. That is quite a shift of opinion. Considering that the success of Iraq is largely due to the “surge” that was ordered by President Bush and President Barack Obama and Biden have been the chief critics of the  surge.

In 2007 then Senator Barack Obama said that the surge would not work. In fact, he stated in an MSNBC interview that the surge would actually increase violence in Iraq. Obama played coy, only saying that he did not think the surge would work. Whereas, Biden  stated that the surge was a failure:

The purpose of the surge was to bring violence in Iraq down so that its leaders could come together politically. Violence has come down, but the Iraqis have not come together… There is little evidence the Iraqis will settle their differences peacefully any time soon.

In 2007, General Petraeus testified before Congress saying that the surge was starting to work and that there could be military reductions as soon as summer of 2008. This is when Obama started to change his tune, saying that the surge did not go as he expected. Luckily, for us, and the US military, Obama was wrong on the surge. While on the campaign trail Obama further conceded that the success of the surge was beyond his “wildest dreams” stating:

The surge has succeeded in ways that nobody anticipated

Well, almost nobody. President Bush and General Petraeus thought that there was a good chance that the surge could work, and that is why they proceeded with it. Now that violence in Iraq is down and a seemingly stable government, Biden is lauding the Obama Administration’s success in being able to bring troops home this summer. Trouble is, that is what the plan was before Obama got into office. The Status of Armed Forces Agreement was ratified by the Iraqi Parliament in November of 2008 when George Bush was still in office. The agreement called for the removal of troops in most Iraqi cities by 2009 and a complete withdrawal of US Troops by the end of 2011. The Obama Administration loves to point out things that were “inherited” from the Bush Administration, but they seem to be taking credit for something good that they truly did inherit.

It is comical how many Liberals were against the surge to begin with. Now the "head Liberal" (President Obama) wants to reap the rewards. He was adamant that the surge would not work along with all of his Liberal friends – VP Bidon, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.

Amen brother! Welcome to the major campaign bulletpoint for the upcoming midterm elections–SURGE. Not only is BHO et.al. attempting to take credit for the Irag surge which they publicly denounced back in 2007, they are using the exact same strategy in Afghanistan as I type this.

They can't talk about any successes, be it the economy (still contracting), healthcare reform (dead in the water even with a supermajority in the senate),or even closing Guantanamo (it is not even mentioned anymore) .

Harry Reid, Barbara Boxer and others up for reelection (heck, I wouldn't even want to be Alexi Gianoulius running for BHO's former Senate seat while being joined at the hip with him on anything and everything) will soon be running to take credit for the only thing that is working, the surge. It was a Petraeus, Bush and Cheney creation. Let us not forget that.

Lol…typical opportunistic feeders. They remind me a a very very bad boss I had once upon a time; that stole his employees ideas and marketed them for great personal profit. We hated him….if he's still alive, I'm sure he's very alone and lonely.

I am getting totally disgusted at the audacity of lying, fabricating and deceiving from these liberal con artists. Biden has shown his contempt for reality and his self righteousness of character to utter such nonsense. The American soldiers deserve a heck of more credit that this and GW for making the hard decision despite these imbecilic ungracious children of the Obama hysteria.

from Emmanuel, to Obama, to Pelosi, to Reid to Holder there isn't one American minded man amongst them. All deceiving agenda driven ideologues or in Joe's case a clown with no concept of reality, which would be great if this was a Hollywood b grade movie but it is real life, real weapons and real lives that will be lost as the Circus keeps presenting its magic show instead of facing or at least noticing reality.

These constant blunders, across the administration are revealing to us Americans about the failure to educate from our colleges and how the tip of the iceberg of ignoramus behavior may have yet to reveal its total depth.

In a one year period, I have watched the Obama administration precariously betray almost every campaign promise, special interest group and the goals that they said they would strive for! After witnessing their failures with the Economy, the War, Global Warming, Health Care, Political appointees, the Olympics, World Issues such as (Iranian and N. Korean Nukes) and ignoring the will of the people, their legacy seems to advocate a total lack of competency. With record low approval rates after this same one year period, my question is just exactly what type of victory or success are they claiming? They blame the war on George W. Bush and therefore cannot take credit for his surge! Perhaps a "Gay Military", will produce a magnanimous victory for the desperate Democrats in Iraq and Afghanistan! After all, the Democrats can always blame it on Bush if they lose! The picture in this article is worth a thousand words and says it all!……..(One Big A#* Mistake America)

I don't understand why Obama and Biden think they can take credit for an achievement they had nothing to do with. I mean there is video footage of Obama's explicit statement that the surge would not work http://bit.ly/bN1tEf How obvious can it be?
