  • Morning Bell: Snow Slows Obama's Second Stimulus

The snowstorms that have already dumped over two feet of snow on the nation’s Capitol and that are threatening to dump another 12 to 16 inches, have ground the legislative process to a halt. But that might not be such a bad thing. Senate Democrats had hoped they could pass President Barack Obama’s second stimulus today, but with only three of the Senate’s 100 lawmakers able to make it to the chamber, that vote has been postponed indefinitely. And the more we learn about what might be in President Obama’s second stimulus, the better a little delay looks.

The Las Vegas Sun reported this weekend that big labor leaders are pushing to include their long-sought “card check” provisions into Obama’s Second Stimulus. This legislation would effectively end a worker’s right to fight unionization through secret ballot elections, would give the federal government the power to run small businesses and would cost the American economy thousands of jobs.

The other major provisions of Obama’s second stimulus are also job killers. The $5,000 new worker tax credit does not create any incentive for already-struggling companies to begin long-term hiring. What’s worse, it could even increase unemployment; companies would delay existing plans to create jobs so they could take advantage of the tax credit. And it would add to our national debt. Then there’s the TARP-funded government-subsidized loans for small businesses. It’s a big-government program destined to fail since the Small Business Administration has a terrible record of effectively allocating capital to the private sector.

For months, the American people and small businesses have been trying to tell the White House and Democrats in Congress that federal regulations and spending are part of the problem, not part of the solution. According to the latest National Federation of Independent Businesses survey, small business owners identified high taxes and government regulation as two of the top three problems facing their business.

Instead of piling on more debt and more regulations, the federal government should move in the opposite direction. For example, suspending the Davis-Bacon rules for the construction industry could fund 160,000 new jobs. Rescinding the unspent dollars from Obama’s first failed stimulus would signal business owners that they will not face crippling new taxes enacted to cover the deficit. Killing the economically-devastating cap-and-trade legislation and prohibiting the EPA from regulating carbon-dioxide under the Clean Air Act would stabilize the regulatory environment so businesses could safely make long term decisions again.

There are things this Congress could do to help spur job creation. Notably, those job-creating ideas do not include more regulations and more deficit spending. Maybe a good thaw is what Washington needs to get back on the same page as the American people.

    1. stirling, Pennsylvan says:

Here's an observation – The EU is made up of mostly socialist governments who currently are having an economic problem with their currency. Our president has said that he would like our country to be more like Europe. This president's Economic policies (tax and spend) will ultimately drive us to the European model, which is now questionable shape. We are watching our future deteriorate in front of us, and this administration is pushing ahead against the will of the people and economic comon sense. It's really appauling.

    2. Charles E. Moyer Gro says:

I would request that the Heritage Foundation please examine the flagrant disregard for one of the greatest resources of our nation; namely the Great Lakes. The President is currently (or planning due to the weather) one of his famous transparent, yet closed door sessions to discuss the threat of the Asian Carp entering the Great Lakes through the locks of (whoops) his home state. He feels that a limited closing would work. Perhaps he will talk to the carp and negotiate a treaty to not spoil a 9 billion dollar recreation and commercial industry.

Please see clear to devote some of the foundations resources to expose this clear contradiction of interests with regards to our environmentally sensitive Chief Executive. Perhaps his own words could be used to defend the largest source of fresh water in the world.

Michael Cox has asked those of us concerned to call the White House and leave a comment on a recorded line. The line is currently close due to the weather???? It would seem that the closed door session is without public comment as well.

    3. Blair, Franconia, NH says:

There's another meaning for "snow." That's con job. That's what Obama's second

      stimulus is. A snow job.

    4. LuluBelle, Parker, C says:

The Las Vegas Sun article has been scrubbed. Wonder what has happened to freedom of the press?

    5. Concerned, Mequon WI says:

If they put card check into the second stimulus this country will go crazy. Unions caused many of our jobs to go overseas! Why do we need unions in everything. That's not freedom!

    6. Rick @ St. Johns AZ says:

Thank goodness for Global Warming, or their would be 4 feet of snow.

    7. Michael R. Victor, I says:

It just occurs to me that the more I read/hear/watch the daily bromides coming out of the White House, Barack Hussein Obama has done more to discourage people from voting for another black man to high office than anything else possible. It saddens, yet amazes, me what we have gotten used to in 12 short months.

Maybe the snowstorm that hit last weekend was tears from heaven – by Dr. King.

    8. Janetta@Hazelwood MO says:

Thank you, Lord, for sending the snow storm to slow the destruction of our nation. I pray that all stay safe during this hideous bought with global warming.

Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!

    9. Fred Stickler says:

The summer before last (2008), my wife and I visited family in France. As we discussed the upcoming presidential election, we were surprised to learn that most of the "real" French people, not the elites, were for McCain and not Obama. They were fearful of Obama's socialistic leanings. The French realized that once America embraced socilism, the light of Freedom, Free Markets and Captitalism would go out for the rest of the world. France's president, Sarkoy, has discribed France as "a dog eating itself". He realizes that France can not continue to be a consumer nation, welfare for all, but, needs to get back to being a producer country. He continues to push for a 40 hour work week. He remarked that in the history of nations, America is an infant. Yet, in less than 250 years, America has become the most successful country in the history of the world.

This rush toward socialism is as old as time. It is the counterfeit of true freedom, innovation, self esteem, self worth and individual accountability.

Will we have the determination to rally around those priiciples that have made this the greatest nation in history and defend our divinely inspired constitution?

    10. bigdave, ocala fl says:

They wondered about the validity of Global Warming and God said "look to the heavens for your answer". We will see what the SOCIALIST'S response will be. They are NOT wondering about what the people want as per Healthcare AND another STAB-US-IN-THE-BACKULUS BILL…they know, yet do not care the people are against them, after all, since when have socialists ever cared about the people? Its all about the ELITE'S PERKS and MAINTAINING CONTOL OF THE PEOPLE. Washingtonians will soon be looking up to see, not snow, but MILLIONS OF ANGRY HAD-ENUFF-OF-YOUR-CRAP AMERICANS and we will deal harshly with those who are trying to destroy OUR COUNTRY! Thank you HERITAGE for putting out THE TRUTH!

    11. Lloyd Scallan - New says:

We all had better wake up soon. Obama is hell-bent to destroy this Nation. He is using every "trick" and "delusion" he, or his ilk have at their disposal. Obama will not stop. He must be stopped now, before it's too late to save our country

      from his socialist dream.

    12. Mrs. Jo Dermody says:

One does not reason with communists. They do not care about small business.

They do not care for the rights of workers, they want goon like union leaders to do their business. In Chciago they have union bosses and aldermen. They all get paid off if you wish to go up the list waiting for a job on the policeforce, etc.

To try to be rational and try to get someone who is a communist to understand the precepts of a representativ republic is a total waste of time. They laugh at those who are trying to do things staying with in the laws or trying to do anything

in a sane way. I do get tired of people speaking about what should be done about keeping jobs in the US, etc. Communists want a one world. They want to run it. They don't care if a worked is illegal. Please all Americans wake up and start to educate the young as to communism and stop wasting your time thinking anyone can dialogue with communists.

    13. Ed Hartz, California says:

This President is such a fake with his plans and his, "Change." The snow should be dumped on his head, never mind the capital.

    14. Hellooo... Shrevepor says:

What is it going to take for the American people to realize that Obama is not out to lead this country to greatness! His socialist adgenda is the playbook for the destruction of our nation. He is leading us to certain ruin and away from the lives we all know. The longer he is in office, the more destruction he will impart on us! On 9/11 we suffered "destruction from within". We are now being destroyed from within by our Commander and Chief…GET OBAMA OUT…NOW !

    15. Bob Ward says:

Where's Al Gore when we most need his guidance during this time of climatic malfunctioning?!

Perhaps we should all ship him snow shovels to his home in Tennessee—thousands upon thousands of them ! What a farce–global warming!!

    16. Richard Cancemi, Arl says:

Many are awakening to Obama's true intentions, viz., to run this Country into thee ground and replace it with Socialism. Progressives "promise" utopia but all they will deliver is enslavement to the government.

Obamsa presents as personable and likable but beneath his facade of "sheep's clothing" is a wolf hungry to devour all that America is. The man is no good!

Would that the brain-dead followers of this Pied Piper wake up to the reality of what "progressive" means.

    17. Robert Magill says:

      Thank GOD for the weather!

    18. Jim - Ohio says:

      GOD HELP US. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    19. Steven G. Poyzer, Up says:

What a bunch of sissies, can't go to work because of a little snow. They should live in the Tug Hill area of New York for a bit if they what to understand what snow is.

    20. Don, Raleigh, NC says:

This weather induced brake on the Obama agenda will not stop this enigmatic Juggernaut from its relentless pursuits, the revision of the U.S. Constitution, the "transformation of America," the restoration of American diplomacy (appeasement) and eventual globalization with America as simply one of many "equal" global states. Everyone around the world will admire and love our great leader and our new found status of dhimmitude under his superb leadership. It would be no surprise to learn that Obama sees himself as perhaps the supreme global ruler after he condemns Israel, proudly reverts to his Muslim roots, and stands with the Imams and his head bowed before a Saudi king.

Sorry! A bit over the top perhaps but this guy needs to be taken seriously and his agenda must be stopped by any legal means necessary. The main stream media is mired in his thrall, their ingrained hatred of all things conservative and will denigrate and besmirch any and all who express their conservative and uniquely American views while, at the same time, loudly proclaiming and applauding their absolute commitment to the freedom of speech. It's a disturbing and demeaning spectacle to witness.

Republicans, beware this recent outreach by the man who for one entire year repeatedly and publicly accused them of being the party of no and the party of no ideas despite the absolute absurdity and fallaciousness of the assertion. He will use this outreach tactic to "prove" his assertions with more lies and distortions and as a political lever to move his radical, anti-American agenda forward.

May the Tea Party movement grow and draw Americans of all political persuasions back towards our American roots; government of, by and for the American people. The American Congress as it's now constituted needs a high enema in 2010 and beyond.

    21. bigdave, ocala fl says:

    22. Dennis Social Circle says:

If obama has his way we will fly the Flag in surrender to the socialist way of living. The members of Congress that are blindly following pelosi, reid and obama should be put in the street as soon as possible. This country was built on hard work for all, compassion for our neighbor, love for our family, and a willingness to help all that needed help. Now our country is full of freeloaders, looking for the next handout, people that refuse to seek work, leaders that unable to lead, and refuse to listen to the people they represent.IT IS TIME WE HAVE A NEW HOUSE, CLEAN WITH THE ABILITY TO LEAD. WE MUST STOP BEING THE DUMB LEAD BY THE IGNORANT. VOTE IN 2010!!!!!

    23. annomis idaho says:

if they dont start listing to the peoples words they will have to listen to our bullets not that i am for open revolt but history is full of stuff like that

    24. Jeanne Stotler Woodb says:

I grew up in D.C. suburbs, we had independent grocery stores called DGS, dime stores owned by an independent who also worked in the stores from time to time, Mr. Robertson gave me my first job when I was in High School, the Lumber Yard was owned by Murphy and Ames, the hardware next door was owned by Mr. Snyder, the Drug stores by Dr. Ware. We had a Safeway only it was called Sanitary Market, A&P, High's ice cream. Clarendon had small dress shops and shoe stores, remember Hahn's, Kit-Kat. These are all gone and so are some of the nicest Dept. stores, Hecht's, Lansburg's, Kann's, Palies royal and Woodies. not to mention Garginkel's now the gov't is trying to run all businesses out so they can take over. Wish I could turn back the clock it sure was nicer even when we were at war.

    25. David Bess, Carson C says:

Amazing as it seems there are those that beleive that offering a $5,000.00 tax incentitive to employers for hiring a warm body is a good thing. Obviously these thinkers have never had to run a business or make a payroll.

Adding employees to a small company is a very serious indevor. It requires that several criteria be met. I. Can revenues justify the additional cost. Even a minimum wage position cost the employer $15,000 in salary plus the added benifits, taxes and fees which easily add an additional 25% or $3,750.00. 2. The cost of training a new employee which is easily several thousand dollars. and 3. The risk that a new employee could put the employer into a legal situation that could cost the company everything.

You want small business to save our economy, and they are the only ones that can. Then wake up. Realize that increased revenues and profit are the only real "job creators" not government handouts. The governments, fed .stste and local need to decrease the tax burden on businesses as well as the complexity of the regulatory obligations faced by business.

    26. George Dubendris, Ru says:

When will Obama and his liberal buddies learn. Even Mother Nature is against them.

    27. Prevailer76AZ says:

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. The heaven sent white stuff may well be the answer to our prayers for the White House to curb their rush to bring about the most foolhardy, least wanted legislation of all time.

    28. Judith in Michigan says:

And here the liberal Democrats thought they were going to waltz into DC and overhaul America into a European-style Socialist eutopia before anyone caught on. They wrongly assumed that the people would not pay attention. Well, we are paying attention, and we don't like what we see. You can tell by the venom and vitriol coming from the left that they are being thwarted in their ambitions.

This administration knows full well what would be needed to get the economy and the country growing again, but that is not their objective..

Refresh your memories on the Cuban and Venezuela fall into Socialism/Communism. Look what was attempted in Ecuador recently.and check out what is happening now in Argentina. The similarities will stun and frighten you. Socialists and Fascists are on the move. The US is in their cross-hairs, but they didn't count on the American people putting a stop to it. We can, and we will.

      Just watch us !!

    29. Jerome Brenner says:

When is Washington going to recover from its "knee-jerk" responses to such idiotic theories such as "climate change"? The world has been experiencing this phenomenon in both directions for the last 100,000 years, and somebody thinks human intervention is going to eliminate it?

    30. Leith Wood Richmond, says:

God has a delicious sense of humor. Keep snowing on Washington until November.

    31. Ben C. Ann Arbor, MI says:

The more things change the more they stay the same:

      Source: House.gov

      August 1, 2003

Washington, D.C. — House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on the Bureau of Labor Statistics' announcement that 470,000 people abandoned their job searches in July and that 3.2 million private sector jobs have been lost since President Bush took office:

“The fact is that President Bush’s misguided economic policies have failed to create jobs. Since President Bush took office, the country has lost 3.2 million jobs, the worst record since President Hoover. And today we learned that in July nearly half a million people gave up looking for a job.

“Job losses are taking a real toll on the financial security of American families. While Democrats are fighting for opportunity, jobs, and economic security for working families, Republicans continue to focus on helping those who need help the least.

“According to today’s survey, while the national unemployment rate dropped slightly, it still stands at a near record high. In addition, the unemployment rate for African Americans was still over 11 percent in July, and the unemployment rate for Hispanics was 8.2 percent in July.

“It is time for President Bush and the Republicans to get to work for all Americans, not just the elite few.”

    32. wallyblu says:

This would be an ideal time for the Congress to consider Global Warming and Cap and Trade.

    33. Sacramento says:

Mother nature's snow job sure beats the heck out of the blizzard of socialism shaping up in Congress. Keep the natural stuff coming! Feet and feet of it!

    34. Ted Stein, President says:

The SBA provides guarantees for loans to small businesses provided through local banks. They reduce the risk to the bank, encouraging lending that may not otherwise be available. Credit worthiness criteria is equivalent to that of a commercial institution, sometimes greater. Although small businesses provide approximately half the jobs, their success rate is poor, with only 20% of start-ups surviving in the first five years. Without the SBA, success rates would probably be worse, although it is possible that the lack of capital could prevent the companies from starting in the first place, reducing job creation.

SBA loans come at a very high cost, including personal guarantees. Initial and annual fees are intended to off-set administrative costs, although interest rates are competitive, and generally lower than conventional loans, reflecting reduced risk.

I would not typically recommend an SBA loan over a conventional commercial loan, but for those who accept SBA loans, they are probably still in business, and qualified to complain.

    35. nancy, MSn says:

While this may not be politically correct…it is perfectly correct in my heart and mind…God is in control of the weather and is also in control of the Congress, whether they are aware or not!!! And, that makes me forever thankful.

    36. JohnR from Corupt, I says:

      Thank God for snow.

    37. gorio, calif. says:

Now is the time for Bohnier to get his act together, I hope he doesn't fall for the dog and pony show they are going to do for "healthcare bipartisanship".All they are doing is setting up the republicans as the obstructionist fall guy so they can justify the filibuster rule change they will pull out to "save us" from the republicans, What Bohnier should do is throw them a curve: suggest in the next press breifing that the republicans are working on something "bipartisan" like an independant "Grace Commission" with supeanoe power to help root out the "waste, fraud and abuse" The kicker would be that the people on the commission would be selected by the nations governors, not the feds. That should keep them off balance untill we can vote them out!!!!!!

    38. Charles ( Chuck ) Re says:

      The Guilty Generation!!!

I am not quite sure where to start this, but we must begin by acknowledging that our generation more than any other in the history of this nation, changed everything!

I come from a modest low to lower middle class family of 8 children of which I am the oldest. I can remember times when we didn’t have much to eat and sugar would be considered a deliciously and consumed by the spoonful

It’s hard to imagine when you didn’t even have a piece of bread to make your lunch or that you didn’t have anything to put on it and were ashamed to take just bread or what we called catsup sandwiches to lunch for fear the other kids would laugh at you for being so poor, but this was true.

I don’t think today’s children can appreciate all the conveniences that are at their disposal. For example, we were lucky to have a Coke or a candy bar and if our more fortunate friends had them we would salivate while watching them devour their treasure.

Even though this might sound ancient and somehow unworthy of mention the times I speak of wasn’t that long ago. Time seems to be moving much faster now and new things aren’t as fascinating as before, it’s like oh hum! Yeah! That’s interesting barely noticing the object of interest. We have become so accustomed to new and improved or the latest whatever, that we aren’t impressed at all. We take so many things for granted. Do you remember when you first saw a color TV! Wow ! I was very impressed, or when everyone was gathered around the only TV watching Bonanza or The Mitch Miller Show ect……

How about the Apollo landing on the Moon, Wow! Now that was special, but hardly noticed now.

All of this leads me to something that has plagued this nation for almost 60 years now. We have been so accustomed to having what we want, when we want it, regardless of the cost! This has brought about generations of us that do not know what the words sacrifice, hard work, and responsibility are anymore. We simply do not have any discipline or patience, which shows up in so many areas of our countries ability to remain a leader of the World.

I know I am guilty of all the above!

      Guilty but not hopeless!

In today’s fast moving times, we must adapt or be left behind. We must be willing to look at the wall that is before us and then turn around and look where we came from to understand that this wall can be removed or a door built to go through it.

Our grandparents and parents worked so much harder than we and have given up so much, so that we could accomplish the things that have made this country so Great! In some respects it was handed to us and therefore taken for granted. Which is why we have those in this country that do not have any appreciation for the freedom and values that have made this country what it is. It’s not that complicated, and if I can grasp it, I am sure many more can do so as well.

We must look back at the road traveled by our great grandparents, grandparents, and parents and let this guide us over or through this wall that is before us. The wall represents our complacency in doing what is right by ourselves and for others. We have lost our sense of right and wrong, just or unjust, and ultimately free or enslaved. Sure there

?have been times in our history where wrong has occurred and the innocent unjustly treated, but look at what has been created over all! There is no other Nation under God that has defined what a nation of free people can do like this one!

It is so simple, so blatantly apparent, that even the simplest of minds can comprehend what has been spelled out in our Constitution. It doesn’t require a team of lawyers to define the hidden meaning of our fundamental rights contained within the document. I mean, look at the words our Declaration of Independence , which started everything for us as a nation of free people. How hard is it to understand what it says.

“ We the people ! Hold these truths to be self evident! That all men! Are created Equal and endowed by their creator certain inalienable rights, among these are the right to life! Liberty! and the pursuit of happiness! It doesn’t get much simpler than that. We don’t need a supreme court to explain what that really means!!!!!!!!

All that is required is for We the People to live and abide by these precious words. Sometimes of late anyways, I feel as though we are headed for another revolution! This time it will be those of us who believe in the principles set forth by our founding fathers, and those who ascribe to shall we say a more socialist point of view. For me it comes down to those of us who believe in God almighty, and those who believe in whatever tickles their fancy!!! I like to make choices of clear right and wrong, there’s no room for the so called “ gray area”. I think this kind of thinking is what has gotten our country all turned around. It runs completely against what was set up by the founding fathers of our Republic!

When I was in high school back in Killeen Texas, we were studying our constitution in our American History class. Miss Little was our teacher, God Bless her!!! she made us do a term paper of sorts on the constitution and I really delved into it.

It was then that I realized for the first time in my life that our Freedoms were going to be our downfall. You’d have to know that at this time the U.S. was at war in Vietnam, and the general atmosphere of our country was starting to turn to the Left! My father had served two terms in Vietnam, I was very afraid for my father’s life, when he told me they wanted him to go again. I asked him to please not go, as the last time, he almost lost his life when the Vietgong attacked the base where he was stationed. I lived the war through my father’s eyes. He came back an alcoholic, and almost lost his family, because my mother was wanting a divorce. One night he came to my beside crying, I had never seen my father cry before, I guess he had an argument with my mother, anyway he was explaining to me about a night they were under attack, and he got up, still in his bvd’s grabbed his M16 ran out and immediately heard the sounds of bullets whizzing by him, he returned fire and when it was all done and over, he had shot a 12 or 13 year old boy, who looked like my younger brother David, Needless to say, He was definitely very shook up over the whole thing. It was then that I had an idea of what war was really like. To this day I can remember exactly how it must feel to be in a war, without ever having to be involved. I thank God for my father, and for the fact that I haven’t had to deal with a situation like that ever so far.

I was swooped up in the whole 60’s thing and wasn’t sure how I felt about our involvement in the Vietnam war. In the end I feel that we should have either stayed and fought but with conviction! Or we never should have gotten involved in the first place. I remember telling my father that I was going to go to Canada instead of being drafted and going to Vietnam. He threw a punch at me and I ducked out of the way and ran off. In hind sight I think if really wanted to hit me he could have. I later apologized to him for this. My father was a simple man, but the one thing he demanded was respect! Not just for him, but my mother, family, and for others. I guess what I am trying to say is, my generation was really led astray by our Media!!

For the first time in our history everything was on TV. I remember the Vietnam war was on every night and it wasn’t always to our favor, or at least that’s how it was portrayed, we were always killing innocent people and we needed to get out. Of course no one was telling the other story of how the North Vietnamese were killing thousands to keep their people inline. The one thing that stays with me to this day is of course my father’s stories, but also the mass exodus from Saigon! Remember!!! the people trying to board the last few flights out of the city. I mean they literally had to keep the people away at gun point, and the horrified look on their faces knowing full well what awaited them, I will never forget it. I remember a women pegging to have a soldier take her young child to keep the child from suffering what was coming to them once the U.S. left. These are the things that we forget. The Good that our country brings to a country that needs help. I mean, we laugh at it, but when you need some money just get involved in a war and ask for help from the U.S. In every war in my lifetime we have always spent billions rebuilding that country. I am too young to remember the Marshall plan, but I did learn about it in my history class, something they probably don’t teach any more, but how much money in today’s dollars do you think it took to rebuild all of Europe and Japan after World War II??? If I had to guess, I’d say Trillions!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of dollars. The point to all of this is Why??? I now understand better what my father must have endured, how could we leave those poor people to such a ruthless regime, we’re suppose to be the good guys, you know the ones who have the statue of Liberty, who shines a light unto the world’s poor and oppressed. In the end it must appear to be such a Sham!!!! We need to stand by the principals that make this country the land of the free and home of the brave!!! Regardless of what other nations think and if need be, in spite of what they believe! This is another reason to have the U.N. get out of this country and how we should get out of the U.N. We have the principles of our country spelled out for us and millions have come from other countries to live under the beliefs of our Constitution and the rights and privileges afforded them by this precious document.

I am a third generation, of Irish/German immigrants. this is not a lot of time when you think of our history. I do know a little of the history of my family and the hardships that were endured so that they could live free and prosper as God intended for all men.

I guess at this point, if it isn’t already apparent, I am a Baby Boomer, born on march, 24th, 1953. that puts me smack dab in the middle of this generation. Yes I have visited the upstairs downstairs psychedelic shack on avenue D St. in Killeen, TX, and also have visited the site where Jane Fonda visited during the Vietnam war, the Oleo Strut Cafe, which was reported to have a photo of every person who visited this café because of the political activism taking place there. We were just curious when we visited the café back in 1969.

This all leads me to the conclusion that our generation more than any other is the culprit for today’s leftist tendencies and the ultimate direction of today’s political climate. I don’t remember when, but at some point I realized that our constitutional freedoms were being misrepresented in our courts of law. I remember thinking that our generation were challenging the system and the status quo, with our generations expression of freedom, Peace man! Power to the People! and the ultimate, Love not War! The only problem with line of thinking is, Freedom without responsibilities and consequences is Anarchy and ultimately Chaos!!! And wasn’t an excuse to do whatever you liked!!! there are consequences to your actions, no matter how free you are!!! This is where the Constitution comes in to play by describing our government a Democratic Republic!!!!! We can not have Freedom without Responsibility, which is where the Republic part of the government comes into play. I don’t think this is being taught in today’s schools. I know it wasn’t being emphasized when I was in High School, back in the late 60’s and early 70’s. I remember realizing that true freedom without restraints would lead you ultimately to Anarchy! Anarchy, is not sustainable and eventually leads to destruction and Chaos!

When you really examine our Pledge of Allegiance, you can begin to understand how responsibility plays into our freedoms. I mean even our Father in Heaven has given us freedom, but not without responsibilities to others. In order to maintain Freedom, you must first uphold whatever document that guarantees this freedom, and so there is freedom, but not without Responsibility! How then can we have such a vague understanding of the founding principles of Freedom, laid out in our Constitution?

I submit that we as a nation have allowed lawyers to misinterpret the original meaning of our constitutional freedoms, in order to fit whatever whim or whims!!! that they were representing at the time. This is also self evident when you look at the different interpretations of God’s word. I find that the documents mentioned when examined, even by the simplest of educated people, that the truth speaks loudly and clearly for itself! Again, I do not need a Supreme Court Justice to explain my rights outlined in the Constitution, they are self evident and true!!!!!!!!

In this declaration, I feel that we the people must act and take back that which has been given to us, by the rivers of blood of those men and women that have gone before us and have handed down to us the very Freedoms we hold dear.

We must hold the representatives of our government, the President, the Congress, and even our Supreme Court Justices, accountable for everything in acted on our behalf. To the extent that every law and amendment, must be able to be understood, even by the simplest of our educated people. In other words, say what you mean, and mean what you say! Keep it Simple Stupid! I mean if our own representatives and senators can’t read and understand a bill, how in the Hell!!!!!!! Are we supposed to understand it!!!!!!!!!! We should hold them accountable and have to live by whatever bill they pass, they are not an elite class of people, they are our representative Servants!!!!!!!!

I am speaking to whom ever wishes to read this by the first amendment of our Constitution, that allows for the freedom of expression!

Note! This doesn’t include whatever!!!!!!! You want it to be!!!

      Sincerely, Charles Daniel Reidelbach JR.

Has anyone stopped to think that this snow storm has happened as a result of millions of Americans prayers to stop this destructive legislation from becoming a reality? 2Ch 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

get our energy production on target by looking for clean energy. But don't be blinded by pie in the sky expectations, The South Africans have the right idea, they have the largest CTL plant in the world. The conversion of coal to liqid (equivalent to gasoline) could keep us going for at least the next 300 years. everyone has been sold the idea the Co2 isI causing global warming. Their is little if any proof that this is so.

While we look for a better way lets not watch our economy go down the tube.

I agree that small businesses do not need more taxes and government regulation. We need to let the little business people prosper instead of taking their hard earned money away from them and paying big businesses to stay alive. Just as a side note which probably doesn't pertain to the subject whole heartedly, should big businesses really want to make money and not live on the dole, they could build better products that last instead of having their products quit because of poor designing and week but expensive parts. Their products would have greater value and would last longer that way. Just My Opinion..

    42. Tom, Pennsylvania says:

The Progressives in the Democratic Party must be deliberately trying to drive this nation into the ground. Just look at Europe where the PIGS (Portugal, Italian, Greek, and Spainish) governments have driven their countries to near econimic and social collapse. Their "nanny state programs" have proven that Socialism does not work. Yet the far left political leaders want us to be "just like them." Republicans have little to brag about since they did little to stop the spending madness over the last decade. Pork, earmarks to pay back contributors, and getting reelected is all most of our politicians care about.

Our $14 trillion debt, and endless government programs and laws are going to create a social and economic meltdown just like Europe unless something is done to stop this madness. Is there not one Democratic or Republican political leader that has the intestinal fortitude to stand up to this nonsense and lead us out of the destructive swamp we in?

It is time to stop this train wreck and bring back the dream of the 56 or so Founding Fathers who had more common sense and faith in God and our people, than the 535 members of Congress who have forgotten that the people give the government its authority and power. Come election day, I pray we start voting them out of office and find a new president in 3 years. The founding fathers must be turning in their graves at what they see happening to our great nation. Term limits for Congress anyone??
