America's defense budget should be compared not only in percentage, but in actual dollars, to Obama's 'Pet' projects of funding GM and Chrysler, trying to take control of the Stock exchange, the Banks, et al.
Our one Billion a year for military bases throughour the World, and the monies spent on preventing Terorist from doing worse damage to the "Innocents" of the World, is far less than his dreams of power.

Missle defense for the US should be based in the US. Missle defense in Europe will protect Europe and should be paid for by Europe. If Europe will not pay for it, them put the missles in the US, we will be protected and Europe won't be. They then need to realize that they will then become the new target. NO MORE FREE DEFENSE FOR THE WORLD, WE ARE BROKE PEOPLE AND NEED TO START SPENDING ACCORDINGLY.

We need our armed forces for defense. since BHO seems to enjoy putting this country down to foriegn nationa and also tells them he is limiting our defenses, he is putting us at peril. With todays tech knowledge our enemies KNOW our weaknesses as well as our strength. The members of Al-kadi and taliban are not uneducated, only the ones who vol. to blow themselves up may be, the ones at the helm KNOW what they are doing, they are cunning and most likely have infiltrated our security, if one of them became a Major in USA, you can bet there are many more scattered around.

The U.S. government needs to prioritize all of its programs and its spending on dead end short term projects. The military should have priority because without a good defense an attack on the U.S. would make moot all other endeavors. The Union must endure and maintain and a strong defense is the only vehicle to achieve this goal. Our country is in very hard times and I believe that there will be better days ahead if only we would stop the excessive spending. Our country needs to wise up and be quick about it.

I seem to remember from the tsunami in Indonesia that the costs of bringing the Abraham Lincoln, the Bonhome Richard and all the military assistance came out of the Defense Budget, not the official aid to Indonesia.

I assume that the situation will be the same regarding Haiti. Our military does outstanding work in providing organization, policing, food and water, medical and hospital care. The Navy is hard at work building temporary docks and restoring temporary port facilities. The Air Force has rebuilt the control tower and taken over air control. That takes a big chunk out of a military budget that is trying to provide national security.

President Obama is caught between the rock of a Left that opposes all war and simply does not understand Islamic terrorism and the hard place of continuing terrorist attacks and a growing al Qaeda in Yemen.
