The Heritage Foundation’s Steven Groves and Ben Lieberman are live at the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference reporting from a conservative perspective. Follow their reports on The Foundry and at the Copenhagen Consequences Web site.
As the developed and developing worlds continue to spar here in Copenhagen over the terms of a comprehensive climate change treaty, a key United Nations official let the actual truth slip out as to what this conference is really about.
Janos Pasztor—the Director of U.N. secretary-general Ban Ki-moon’s Climate Change Support Team—was characterizing the nature of the talks between the rich and poor nations of the world when he said the following: “This is not a climate-change negotiation … It’s about something much more fundamental. It’s about economic strength.” The nations at the negotiation, he added, “just have to slug it out.”
That is a remarkable statement, and may turn out to be the most truthful comment made during this entire two-week conference.
All 192 nations negotiating here in Copenhagen know Mr. Pasztor’s characterization to be true, but none say so. They speak of the United States’ “climate debt” owed to the rest of the world and that the U.S. and other developed nations owe “climate reparations” to the developing world to the tune of $100 billion a year.
Mr. Pasztor is correct—what is going on in Copenhagen this fortnight is anything but a climate change negotiation. It is an international political debate over global redistribution of wealth and control of energy resources, masquerading as an environmental conference.

This is proof that the climate change meeting is based on sheer nonsense. The true goal of the participants is to find a way for the United States Tax Paying citizen compensate for the economic short comings of the entire world. This is foolishness.
I am already supporting California and NY deadbeats through my income taxes, I will NOT support GLOBAL deadbeats as well.
It did not take long for the world to REALLY jump on "wealth redistribution".
Obama's words must be like honey to a bee.
Did anybody doubt that the only thing the U.N. would ever become really good at would be providing a forum for slug-fests, where the incompetents of the world gang up on the productive by any means available: moral blackmail, faulty science, guilt trips, 60's style "activism", even real blackmail if they could? Especially the pseudo-science was never anything but a fig leaf for the real agenda.
The real agenda has forever been world control by the likes of Ban Ki-Moon and Mr. Pasztor, who together are still too dumb to realize they are just puppets in a much bigger game. The true nature of that game became clear at the very latest over 35 years ago when Yasser Arafat was allowed to continue speaking to the General Assembly while brandishing a pistol. That act may by itself have been merely symbolic, but it is precisely such symbolism which reveals the real intent. This intent is nothing less than the threat of a criminal act against all productive and freedom loving people world wide.
We need to call out this threat. We need to reject the entire moral sanction implicit in appeasing it. Question: How could competent and industrious people ever have become this at the expense of the effete and inept? What did the latter have that the former could have wanted? If your answer is twice, "Nothing", then you have taken the first step toward rejecting this moral sanction. Subsequent steps will need to be a ceaseless "No" to their further demands. Nothing less can really save the world, nor will!

Scary, threatening and unlawful. The people need enforcement!
Thank you, Mr. Pasztor. Honesty is always the best policy!
You have Precision of the Conference agenda. You are very much on point. No citizen of any country in the world wants to be a slave to the IMF or any other nwo one world government.
