  • Morning Bell: Obama the Czar-Maker Becomes the Ultimate Czar

An innocent young girl rises from her bed in a dry, barren wasteland and watches as an earthquake violently splits the land around her, while a tornado rips apart a metropolis far in the distance. A tidal wave rushes toward her, and she jumps to a tree branch with no time to spare, avoiding a horrific death. She awakens from her nightmare, screaming in fear, and then solemnly implores the viewer, “Please help the world.” This exploitative video from the environmental left shockingly debuted yesterday at the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference and is likely the first of many assaults on the senses employed to gin up support for a global climate treaty that would lead to an even more apocalyptic end for the U.S. economy.

Those disaster-movie-style scare tactics are an act of desperation necessary to sway the public’s wavering opinion on the notion of man-made climate change, particularly in light of the Climategate scandal, which exposed the dirty dealings of global warming “experts” who evidently deleted, doctored and destroyed inconveniently true data that rendered their climate change theories bunk and not beyond question. But where public opinion can’t be manipulated with fear mongering and lies, political victory will be won with the brute force of federal regulation.

Yesterday, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) declared carbon dioxide to be a dangerous pollutant under the Clean Air Act, granting itself authority for an enormous, unprecedented regulatory undertaking that would greatly expand the EPA’s power. Because 85 percent of the U.S. economy operates on fossil fuel, the EPA would essentially have the ability to regulate every aspect of life in America – and it would be able to enact draconian climate-change policies without any accountability to American voters.

The EPA’s actions are a regulatory end-run around a politically-unpopular Democratic Senate who may not be able – or willing – to deliver on cap-and-trade climate change legislation. A lack of a mandate from home might have been an embarrassment for President Barack Obama, who otherwise would have arrived next week at Copenhagen empty-handed, unable to tout climate change progress from back in the States. However, as The Wall Street Journal opines this morning:

President Obama isn’t about to let a trifle like democratic consent impede his climate agenda. With cap and trade blown apart in the Senate, the White House has chosen to impose taxes and regulation across the entire economy under clean-air laws that were written decades ago and were never meant to apply to carbon.

The un-democratic EPA ruling drew applause from the powers that be at Copenhagen, who saw the ruling for what it is – a despotic, unilateral decision designed to move a global environmental agenda forward, despite the lack of consent from the governed. An article on the Copenhagen Conference Web site declared, “US body aids Copenhagen conference,” and Yvo de Boer, the head of the secretariat of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, said, “This is very significant in the sense that if (…) the Senate fails to adopt legislation (on emissions), then the administration will have the authority to regulate.”

Senator John Kerry (D-MA), too, applauded the EPA’s power grab and cautioned that the agency’s actions should send a message to Congress that if they don’t act, the President will have the authority to act anyhow, so they better get on board the train before it leaves the station without them. Quoth Kerry:

The message to Congress is crystal clear: get moving. If Congress does not pass legislation dealing with climate change, the administration is more than justified to use the EPA to impose new regulations.

Obama the czar-maker becomes the ultimate czar.

The Heritage Foundation is keeping a close eye on the Copenhagen Conference, and two of its experts, Ben Lieberman and Steve Groves, will be among a handful of conservatives on site for the proceedings. They have already authored several articles and videos on the conference, and they will be video blogging from Copenhagen. You can follow them at Heritage’s Copenhagen Consequences Web site.

    1. Jonathan Seid, Willi says:

The sky is falling! The End is Near! Repent! Or burn in Hell!

I've heard these desperate cries since I was a child. Hearing them now regarding carbon dioxide, melting polar caps, rising seas, holes in the ozone,

over-population, un-sustainable growth, etc., et al, ad nauseum, tells me that those who wring their hands and cry so loud, are scared and pathetic wretches.

Those that manipulate them and use them as their tools for power, are called leftists. Those of us who recognize their behavior, are called skeptics.

      Bring along the skeptics.

      • Jonathan Seid, I absolutely agree with you! Scared mind is much easier to control. All those 2012 greenhouse effect and the black hole caused by hadron collider stories were just making me laugh at first but afterwards I got pretty much annoyed by this. Skepticism will save he world.

    2. Ozzy6900, CT says:

America innocently ignored the obvious and embraced the idea that "man" can cause climate change. Enter the terrorism of preying on fears of the limited, mindless masses and your "message of doom" flourishes and grows.

Then when the REAL facts are exposed, the EPA steps in and makes a ridiculous declaration so that the Left can continue to rape the Constitution and empower the messiah.

Yes America, YOU elected him, YOU supported him, YOU empowered him! Now you will see what Europe went through in the late 1930's. You will be stripped of every freedom to the point of enslavement and you will welcome it because the messiah will tell you how lucky you are to be in his shadow, how lucky you are to be in his flock. You fools have started down a path that our fathers and mothers stopped with their blood and lives and swore to never again allow such a movement! Congratulations, America.

    3. Freedom of Speech, T says:

This is nothing but political blackmail.

The really shameful part is that many congressional left-wingers seem content to let the Executive Branch control the Legislative Branch through these deplorable acts. By now, we all know every act they commit is furthering their personal agenda. They could care less about the majority of the American people.

So instead of being outraged and upset with the President's actions, kowtow is the new legislative norm.

Carbon Dioxide is dangerous? Then so are plants and people. We are finding out just how dangerous some of our elected officials are to the prosperity and future of this country. The decision-making, misrepresentations (lies), ommissions, nonsensical spending and borrowing, and bait & switch tactics are simply an abuse of power.

    4. Mike, Michigan says:

It seems simple to me. Just produce a video showing where all of the money ends up that has been stolen from the American consumer for "Cap and Tax". I suspect that there are only a few organizations that will benefit from this windfall of legalized theft.

      Energy companies, politicians, scam artists…

      But I repeat myself.

    5. Randy says:

Can all of this withstand Supreme Court review? Who will challenge it?

    6. A Conservative says:

The EPA ruling is absolute nonsense. Their own report contradicts the need to even discuss CO2. On page 207, in Appendix C, they clearly state: "The ambient concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere is presently about 0.039% by volume (or 386 ppm). Projected increases in CO2 concentrations from anthropogenic emissions range from 41 to 158% above 2005 levels (of about 380 ppm) or 535 to 983 ppm by 2100 (Meehl et al., 2007) (see Section 5). Such increases would result in atmospheric CO2 concentrations of 0.054 to 0.098% by volume in 2100, which is well below published thresholds for adverse health effects."

Read the last bit one more time: "WELL BELOW PUBLISHED THRESHOLDS FOR ADVERSE HEALTH EFFECTS."

Maybe no one in the federal government bothers to actually read anything (and reading comprehension skills are inherently in question), but do they think no one else does?

    7. CMiller says:

What is wrong with everyone, why are we allowing this lie to go forth? Why are they allowed to lie then make us live the lie? I guess we as people have became invalid. Where noone wants to publicly debunk the this lie.

    8. AndyB, Davie, FL says:

This morning's news, that our triple a national credit rating is in jeopardy, is most distressing. I wonder how the Administration is going to spin this? The obvious solution, stop spending and cut costs, will be ignored, just as realistic solutions to the unemployment problem have been disdained. The consequences of the potential decline in our credit rating will not be explored by the MSM; it's up to Heritage, TH, Cato, et al (and perhaps a few non-corrupt US Senators) to pound the point home. This can only lead to a declining US status; the new Banana Republic of the Western Hemisphere.

    9. Ben C, Ann Arbor says:

Perhaps we should follow the students of Iran who are protesting against their government and ramp up the Tea Party Protests. The more I study history that I have have lived the more I am convinced The Heritage Foundation is far more accurate in its assessments than Congress. We clearly are on path of self destruction and truley our destruction will come from within. But it seems this is the game plan for the POTUS.

    10. Davod, Reston, VA says:

I cannot understand how this has progressed so far. It is as if the school sytem does not teach what the atmosphere comprises nor human input to the cycle.

A long time ago I had a math teacher who taught that sometimes you could use common sense as a quick check on whether a result was correct.

If you were dividing or subtracting then the result should be less not more than you started with (Yes I know this is simple). I it was not you knew you had done something wrong.

Likewise with Green House Gases. If our contribution is so small. How can people be swayed into believing the effect is so great.

    11. Erik, Indiana says:

Randy–Of course it will survive judicial review. The Supreme Court is oriented to the left, and frankly, no one wants to stand up to Obama.

    12. Desmond Taylor Houst says:

There is a really dangerous reactive gas that should be banned. It is oxygen ! This corrosive gas combines with water vapour and can even destroy iron !.

    13. clay says:

Funny video! save us algore, right after you save the polar bears! These MORONS! And the FOOL in the White House…..aw,man don't even get me going……

    14. Richard Cancemi, Arl says:

Islamic terrorists need only to sit back and watch the USA be destroyed by our home grown terrorists. Even Omar Khadafi has said that Muslims need do nothing; America is destroying itself!

      Osama is the Islamists' inspiration.

Obama is the Marxist Democrats' inspiration.

Both are out to destroy the USA.

Osama has his 'cells' in various countries. Obama has the environmentalist agencies.

Both are capable of inflicting grave harm on the USA.

Both attack the USA in every place and in any way they can find.

Both require vigorous opposition from all true Americans.

    15. James Campbell, Rich says:

What hath God Wrought? When we exhale don't our lungs expel Carbon Dioxide? God has therefore made us into a bunch of point source polluters! Were we really made in His image and likeness?

    16. jim toledo says:

I think that the Congress should just make the EPA go away. They have the power to just say enough is enough and write a law dismantling the entire agency. It's apparent that Congress needs to grow a pair and start doing it's job to regulate the bureauricies it created. Why do we need the EPA anyways? What is utterly amazing is that guys like Kerry, Obama, Gore, etc., still believe the hoax and continue to spout the lies. Maybe the real answer is to put God on trila for creating the environment we live in. Pretty soon the government will tell us we can't 'exhale'.

    17. Linda Carlsbad, CA says:

This is what they are doing in my home state, California. My governor has given the EPA all sorts of power over us. Even though California's unemployment is higher then most states. They are going to kill our jobs, raise our costs. All because of a hoax!

    18. funster uk says:

Rational people, of whom there appears to be too few, are appalled at the perversity and corruption displayed by the political and scientific classes. Who and how will stop them ruining the planet for future generations whilst pretending to act as saviors.

    19. Sam, Upstate NY says:

Show me a scientific consensus that says global warming isn't happening. Not a biased pundit. Not a corporate apologist. Not an Exxon-funded "research" group.

You're blinded by your ideology. The scientific community knows global warming is real and knows it's a threat. Your own selfish motivations prevent your objectivity. What a surprise.

    20. Mike Rapkoch, Billin says:

Obama's power grab via the EPA, better referred to as the Enslaving Power Apparachik, should come as no surprise. Everything proposed or obtained by Obama in his first year has had a single aim: power to el presidente.

Perhaps the time is near for Americans to take a lesson and heart from Iranian protesters. Obama has mercilessly ignored, indeed violated, his oath by abandoning and distorting his duties under the Constitution. The Afghanistan announcement is plain enough–refuse to commit to victory and reveal to the enemy when we will cut and run. This is a flat violation of his first duty as president, i.e., to protect the nation from foreign enemies. It is perhaps time for him to go," just as it is time for the Iranian government to go.

Thomas Jefferson: "The tree of liberty must be fertilized from time to time with the blood of patriots and martyrs. It is liberty's natural manure."

    21. Roger S., Ma. says:

Man made global climate change has become the new religion for "true believers" everywhere — including the preaching of "fire and brimstone" as punishment for those insufficiently "politically correct".

Will they soon be "burning people at the stake", like in the 15th and 16th centuries? Maybe. Or, putting dissenters in concentration camps or reeducation camps, like in the 20th century, and to this very day in certain parts of the world? More likely. Or, everybody will be at everybody's throats everywhere? Most likely.

Earthquakes and Tsunamis will become the least of the world's problems — the new self-styled "intellectuals" (all pseudo), these new "grifters of the mind", its greatest. Actually, that's what they already are. Copenhagen and the CRU scandal prove that, if they prove anything.

(For those many or few of a "Progressive" mentality who might be reading this: Glad to be too old now, to have to care much. Glad to have learned enough of life to know that the young "cannon-fodder" -in spe, who in the main got the Obamanians elected, will get what they deserve! As well as many others of their "Progressive" mind-set. No great "powers of prophesy" are any longer required to know at least this much: they asked for it!)

    22. Matthew, lockhart tx says:

I think everyone knows what is going down in America "the great"

we are now a joke to every country that is looking at us, they are just waiting on the right time to pounce, we need to change the way we live our lives and start helping each OTHER, not the government. That is what will make them mad as he'll when we are not using them as a "tool" anymore. We the people of America need to stand up and show them that we are still here and not hideing under a rock waiting on them to "save us all" we are not that bad off and America needs to start seeing that. The presidant has scared us all to belive that the o ly way out of this is through him, and that's not good. He will bring this nation down to the point of NEEDING them to survive and that is far from true, I am twenty-four yrs old and I provide for ME! I have two nice cars and a good job and I didn't get help from the government, if me at twenty-four, no collage education can make the money I am making with out the gov. Anybody can, people are just scared to get out of their house and go look for a job, because the gov. Has got everyone scared shi***ss so wake up and goto work! That is what will defeat them. Take it serious and enjoy and know that your doing what YOU can to make ur life better, not what the presidant can do to make to "make YOUR life better"

      Thank you

      Matthew cowan

    23. Prevailer76AZ says:

When will The Supreme Court step in and say "enough already"? The edicts of The U.S. Constitution have been breached again and again, and nothing from the judicial branch to declare the legislators are out of bounds. Nowhere does the Constitution give congress the right to regulate ANYthing. But it appears to be this administration's primary agenda.

    24. Al Reasin says:

This was based on a Supreme Court ruling because of the wording of the law passed to establish the EPA. On that basis the law could be changed and the CO2 threat would disappear. In a face to face my congressman he was asked to do that and he ah’ed and hmmmm’ed and said he’d check into it. Never heard from him. Time to write again, and to be ignored again.

You know, there is something to be said about frontier justice.

    25. Al Reasin says:

Ben C, 12/8 of Ann Arbor writes:

There is a TEA Party Dec 15th in DC. But when there isn't one, try this: Here is a link to the write up on Patriots Corner Club about our experience last Thursday and the video that was taken by two young men who came by. This shows what two old farts can do with a few hours and little money to fight back against this government's attack on our liberties; one corner at a time.

    27. Freedom of Speech, T says:

      Sam, Upstate NY,

EVEN IF global warming was a threat, there is nothing we can do about it that will make any difference. China and India will not come onboard.

We could and would wreck our economy and thus our standard of living and with ALL our wealth and resources, the % we SAVE does nothing to curb global warming. This action would ensure our swift decline and eventual takeover.

It must really hurt to have a whistleblower display courage and release emails showing what kind of mentality is behind global warming. You can bet there is a lot more info out there we should be aware of before we destroy ourselves in a fruitless cause.

    28. Al, The Villages, Fl says:

The congress needs to wake up and kill the cap and trade bill and rein in the EPA. Greenhouse gasses make up 2% of the air (rest being nitrogen and oxygen) and CO2 some 3.6% of that 2% amount. As a conservative above indicates, this is all nonesense. In the meantime the EPA is becoming a taxing agency detrimental to our society. Congress, when we get rid of the dems, will have a lot set straight.

    29. Wallyblu, Zion, IL says:

When will the EPA declare water vapor a dangerous pollutant, after all it is a ten to twenty times more powerful green house gas than CO2.

And as far as climate change, the earth has been through many changes in the last several millions of years before man was even around. It has been far colder and far hotter than now and these changes will continue with or without us.

    30. joaquin brooklyn says:

we must re group and remove those skeletons that are in congress now the same for senate there will be a lot of damage done in 3 years and it will take a lot to undo it…lets pray to God we wont be to late…..

    31. Lew in Reno says:

This entire problem has foundation in the transfer of great sums of money and power, a fact that all knowledgeable people already know. The only way to cure the problem is to get rid of ALL of the politicians and start over. By the time the new bunch figures out how to be as crooked as ALL of the present people in the federal government are, we will be pushing up daisies. Let our young voters generation solve the problem. The voted for it and all of the stupid moves the federal government makes.

    32. Blair Franconia, NH says:

Czar Barack I. Yeah, that's the ticket!

    33. gene,minnesota says:

we just got to many rino's who are right in this with the democates. as far as the supreme court goes their the ones who gave the epa all of their power. how are we ever going to change this govt around.

Since the fall of 2007, I have been telling anyone

who would listen, that most of this would happen if

this Administration got its stranglehold on America.

Well, for those of you, who are experiencing voter's

remorse…too bad. And as for the rest of you, well

it is too late. Irreversible legislations are about

to rain down on the people of this country and there

is nothing you can do. We blew it. We're all guilty

of the ruination of America as we once knew it.

Just another day, another scam, another hoax or

another ponzi scheme, because that is all there is folks. That's all there is. Good luck America.

Once upon a time, there was a 3rd Party Candidate for President of the United States. He had a vision

fo America, that included the participation of

all Americans to be involved in the governance of

      this once great nation.

Now, sadly, all he can do is write articles and blog, send messages to the MSM and even emails to the White House, but no one seems to be listening.

    38. Fred j. Impastato, B says:

"Scientific consensus" is an oxymoron. Science deals in hypotheses, theories and facts. Any conclusion arrived at by consensus is not based on science. Additionally, CO2 pollution and the carbon footprint thingy are leftist ploys. The main greenhouse gas in the atmosphere is water vapor, viz.: CO2 = ~.035%, H2O = 1-4% or `100 times greater than CO2. Furthermore, at equal concentrations, H2O is amuch greater absorber of infra-red radiation than is CO2. Do the math.

    40. Jack Ardmore, AL says:

Congress screwed up when they gave the EPA the authority to make regulations with the force of law without Congressional oversight. As such, Congress is losing power to the Executive branch of government. Regardless of party, Congress should be wary of, at least in this case, the Executive branch gaining dictatorial powers that cannot be overridden by Congress. Congress should revisit the charter of the EPA to require regulations be approved by Congress or at least the Senate as in treaty approval.

    41. Kathy, Carmel says:

Viewed the video last night. Shamefull exploitation of children, again! You would think these people would be hanging their head in shame from the latest news that has come out and debunked this Global Warming Myth. What is truly frightening is that the Obama administration just plods along ignoring all of this to the detriment of our country.

Another 500 miners were given notice in WV yesterday due to political activism courtesy of this administration, and this is only the beginning. Despite the "value added numbers" of the left (I believe is the current term) our utility rates will double to triple depending on where you live. When you take into consideration the increase in fuel costs, commodities and the fact that unemployment will continue to skyrocket – all based on information that refuses to acknowledge any data that doesn't earn them a profit – we have every right to question the authority of one single man to circumvent our entire democratic process to destroy! When this process failed to meet a few people's desired goals, they simply inserted the EPA and ignored the legislative branch. This economy can only sustain extended unemployment benefits for so long! The band-aid is soaked! Stop burning our jobs on the alter of lies!
