  • The Government Takeover of Health Care in Pictures

    govtakeov

Conservatives may have defeated Hillarycare fifteen years ago, but in the intervening years the left succeeded in passing a slew of incremental reforms that have led to a slow but steady march toward a government takeover of health care in this country.

These Hillarycare-lite measures include adding more middle-class kids to the children’s health care program (known as SCHIP), along with expanding Medicaid eligibility. As of 2007, the federal government controlled 46% of every health care dollar spent compared to 44% in 1993.

But should Obamacare become law (specifically the House bill) the government takeover of health care would be greatly accelerated. According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in the Obama HHS department, the government could control more than 50% of all health care spending –even before most of the major spending provisions in the House bill are implemented.

Government takeover of the health care sector? You decide.

You know what, I've had it with our whole Government and all of their ( lets ruin this country ASAP!) Well you know this isn't their country and "We The People" are going to take her back! We live in the most awesome country in the world and if other countries are jealous of us then too bad, do something about it make all countries free, Capitalism is good and pure and we will fight to the end to keep our Constitution! One Nation under God….if we the people do the right things God will help us win, we just have to trust him and do the right things! I want "ALL" illegals out of our country, Government hands out of Medicare, Social Security, taxes lowered for businesses so we can buy things made in the USA not China! I'm boycotting "made in China" which is hard, seems like EVERYTHING is made in China and I'm sick of it! All I can say is " God is watching us, how disapointed he must be in alot of people! So sad, history, read your history books, lets learn from mistakes, it's a no brainer to me and alot of people I know! Amen

    2. Mike Dodson, Midland says:

This law is unconstitutional — the "welfare" spoken of in Article I, Section 8, of the Constitution did not include (in the definition of the times) healthcare or healthcare insurance. Instead, this section provided for the "general Welfare" of the nation and its citizens as a whole, and meant their safety and security from outside and internal threats to that safety.

Likewise, Medicare, Medicaid, and a whole slew of laws passed since about 1900, are unconstitutional in this sense.

The mechanism for correcting these errors of the legislature are the responsibility of the executive branch and of the U.S. courts. Since the executive did not veto the acts, that leaves the courts.

No court may act "sua sponte;" that is, no court may act on its own without having before it a suit and plea for relief. So, someone would have to bring suit to have these laws declared unconstitutional.

No doubt some of that has been done and many rulings of the lower courts, the appellate courts, and indeed the US Supreme Court have incrementally allowed such laws to stand.

The real puzzle is how to extricate ourselves, as a nation, from the clutch of overweaning governance from the federal level.

One idea is for a group (it will take money) to file a Writ of Certiorari with the U.S. Supreme Court and argue smaller pieces of these laws until they can be dismantled either by court ruling of subsequent legislation that repeals it (not currently likely).

Another is a petition for redress to the legislature (less likely).

      Any other ideas?

    3. Dennis Anacortes, says:

ALL I CAN SAY IS A "HEARTY AMEN" TO JOYCE – WELL DONE AND JUST THE WAY MILLIONS OF US CONSERVATIVES FEEL.

I AM APPALLED THAT OUR SUPPOSEDLY "ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES" ARE CHOSING TO IGNORE OUR OBVIOUS DIS-LIKE AND DIS-TRUST OF THIS BILL AND CONGRESS/OBAMA AS A WHOLE. HOPEFULLY, WHAT HAS HAPPENED AT THE POLLS IN NEW JERSEY AND VIRGINIA AND NEW YORK WILL CONTINUE IN 2010 IN A BIG WAY.

      GOD BLESS AMERICA!

    4. Charles-Odessa says:

      Joyce,

      Luv your ideas and spirit.

We must keep it up-we won some battles but the war is getting tougher and we must not back off now.

Let's not trade personal freedom for government "help".

    5. Stephen Ohio says:

Our founding fathers would turn over in their graves if they could see what these Marxists are trying to do to our republic.I hope this Communist takeover can be stopped before it,s too late.

    6. Leon, Durango, CO says:

      Joyce from OH,

You are so right. The only thing that keeps me sane is to know that a Half Vast Left Wing of communist infiltrators took ahold of the Democratic Party. It is Communism for the Government to finance Health Care, that is a 'means of production' usurped by government. I do not think loyal Americans would get behind this 'take over' if they knew about it. It is illegal, Communism is not the form of government required by our Constitution.

The cost of Health Care will go up proportionate to the government involvement. But really, they are running Health Care into the ground, as an industry. Soon Obama's Plutocratic buddies will buy up all our hospitals cheap (with free money from the Federal Reserve).

Cute, isn't it. Slave doctors. That ought to be great for Amerikan health care.

    7. Leon, Durango, CO says:

Listen to Mike Dodson, closely. The Half Vast conspiracy has kept the Supreme Court from hearing all these Crimes. Clinton fired any Federal Prosecutor who might, so you see how our government is being usurped right out from under our nose.

I would be happy to proof read for your project, I was proof reader for Briefs that went to the Supreme Court back in 1973. But like I said in earlier Blogs, somebody has to bring the Case. That is the only way to make the Supremes behave like real Americans. (I authorize Heritage to release my E-Mail address by E-mail to Mike Dodson, Midland TX). Read Ann Coulter, she has already done the legal research.

    8. Donand Cramer, Michi says:

The way I see all this playing out is from a biblical prespective. We coutinue to fight for our rights under the Constitution, keep being a Christian trying to change them one heart at a time. Then if the Lord wants this junk to pass, I would have to say that it is His will. We must remember that God's will is going to continue and man cannot change it. Remember, I don't know when Christ will return, but each day we are one day closer.

    9. Greg Brown Harrisonb says:

As a local volunteer working the polls on Tuesday, I was saddened to see almost zero representation of minority voters. It makes me question their sincerity to be involved in the political process. By the way, the weather was much nicer this time as compared to 2008.

    10. Virgil Evans Ventura says:

Cheers for Joyce. Also worth mentioning is that Europe had a history of monarchy and we dumped ours over two hundred years ago and developed differently. Why try to look like Europe now (statism)? We have our own Constitution and traditions, to heck with European models.

    11. Annette McTaggart, B says:

"I'll do it my way" seems to be the attitude regardless of how much we voice our opinion or what we do…I don't understand it. I am glad of the stimulus incentives, but what about us that can't buy a house, car, health insurance. There is always a "catch of you have to be qualified…you either make too little or too much." You have to have the percentage to put down to buy a house. If it takes all you have to pay your bills, how can you have abundunt savings

to put down on a house, etc. PLUS, Social Security people having their yearly increase cut out. At a time when it is so needed…yet they "do it their way."

    12. Grace, Florida says:

Donald I like the way you think and I know you are right. It is however, very frustrating to see this administration at work. I think the fighting back is a natural thing (in man) b/c we see the injustice of it and we are used to America being a certain way. It is a real test of our faith b/c this is the worst things have been in my lifetime and being a Christian I do see and read allot into whats going on and I think we have to fight for our Christian principals and our country. Not for God ( he needs no help) for us and for others.

    13. Daniel says:

ANYONE READING THIS POST: JUST HEARD FROM CONGRESS' MICHELE BACHMANN, ACTOR JON VOIGHT AND TALK SHOW HOST MARK LEVIN: THE CAPITOL STEPS MEET-UP AND WALK THROUGH CONGRESS HAS BEEN A HUGE SUCCESS!! MORE THAN 20,000 AMERICANS SHOWED UP AND ARE CURRENTLY SPEAKING FACE-TO-FACE WITH MEMBERS OF CONGRESS! THEY ARE URGING ANYONE INTERESTED TO GET DOWN TO D.C.; THERE WILL BE CONTINUED MEET-UPS TOMORROW FRIDAY AND SATURDAY, WHILE THE HOUSE WORKS ON THIS BILL (OR SPEAKER PELOSI DECIDES TO ABANDON THE SATURDAY VOTE!)

    14. duelles, santa fe says:

In the initial $700B stimulous bill there was a "research for competitive policies" or some such innocent sounding panel or program. THis has within it the basis for healthcare rationing. The left is stealth, unconstitutional, and pathetically non-transparent.

      I against them!

    16. Bobbie Jay says:

Donand, forgive me for disagreeing. But the bible doesn't state the events of today, being the will of God. This is the will of mankind. The bible reads of the revelation due to man's freedom of choices which brings on God's anger. God doesn't interfere with the consequences man brings on man. Consequences teach. But often kill the lives of the innocent. The mystery of God and the loving reward awaits not necessarily in this world, but the next.

Freedom of choice is a gift from God and the test is not to abuse. Jesus teaches the good qualities all human life has under the freedoms God gave. God has given the ability for all human life to take on that freedom and with the ability to do for oneself as each life is an individual existence.

No man had to choose to go down this road. They still have the freedom of choice to turn things around tomorrow. Some say it is happening because of the words of the bible. It doesn't matter, it has been foretold. Everything could change for a better tomorrow, if mankind chose it to be.

We still have to fight, as no man has a right to take from anyone what isn't their's. And by dishonesty, deception, force the number one thing God's gift of FREEDOM which covers much.

I don't believe it is God's will for man to force all to pay for murder of God's creation, as a convenience or compromise. Nor is it the will of God to have government take over by force, all of what God gave man, especially the ability to do for themselves. I don't believe it is God's Will for us to be conducted under this or any corruption. This demoralizes and undermines God's creation of human life. As faithful believers in God, through the teachings of Jesus Christ, we have a duty to fight to keep what we are born with and from…freedom. This, I believe, is God's Will.
