Pelosi Perturbed by Pro-Life Dem

It looks like Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) isn’t happy with Democrat Rep. Bart Stupak’s efforts to make sure that taxpayer dollars do not pay for abortions in any new health care plan and, according to The Hill, “he may work with Republicans to torpedo healthcare reform unless he gets a vote to strip abortion-related provisions out of the House bill.”

From The Hill’s Blog Briefing Room:

During an interview on C-SPAN’s ‘Washington Journal’ show, Stupak (D-Mich.) said he is undeterred in trying to ensure that taxpayer dollars do not pay for abortions. Stupak, who opposes abortion rights, acknowledged that some in his party are upset with his public campaign to change the bill.

‘The Speaker is not happy with me,’ Stupak said.

Stupak has pulled together 40 like-minded Democrats who plan to block healthcare reform legislation from coming to a vote on the House floor if the bill includes federal subsidies for abortions. As The Hill reports, “Stupak wants a vote on the House floor to strike the language, and predicts he would have the votes to pass such an amendment.”

The northern Michigan democrat’s threat to work with Republicans to halt healthcare reform appear tailored to forcing a vote to strip abortion-related provisions from the House bill. From The Hill:

Stupak said one way or the other, there will be a vote on the abortion language, either “though a rule, or on the floor, or on a motion to recommit.”

Why is this an issue?

Even though President Barack Obama pledged, “Under our plan, no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions,” The Foundry previously reported that Obamacare will force the American people to pay for abortions because there is no law to prevent it from happening. What’s more, a provision known as the Hyde amendment, which blocks federal dollars from being spent on Health and Human Services programs, doesn’t apply to the health care reform.

But don’t take our word for it. The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops sent a letter to Congress on October 8th writing: “No one should be required to pay for or participate in abortion. … No current bill meets this test.”

Gee, that’s tragic that the Speaker isn’t happy with Stupak. I’d guess that anything that makes her unhappy is good for America. She’s such an embarrassment, even to California.

Pelosi, like Biden are Catholic in name only, they pollute religion. Both should be excommunicated.

Abortions are medical procedures. And legal. Good for Nancy.

October 28, 2009 Will, Baltimore writes:

Leland, IL - There is a law from the 70s that prohibits federal funding of abortions, but they are trying to get around this and let the Federal Government pay for it through subsidies. Besides the President said the bill would not aide abortions. What is the big deal.

Yes abortions are a legal ELECTIVE procedure to kill a child in utero. So they can use their own money if they’d like.

October 28, 2009 Freedom of Speech TX writes:

Leland IL,

Elective plastic surgeries are also legal medical procedures.

Your point convienently misses “the point”. Those who want abortion indeed have the “legal” right.

Those people can pay for it.

As for “Good for Nancy” you have got to be kidding me. She is the worst Speaker this country has ever seen. If you could strap a lie detector machine to democrats, I think you would be surprised at how many would agree.

It apparently does not bother the far left that she is 3rd in line to the Presidency. Just a halloween thought.

Pelosi is such a disgusting and bold faced liar, doesn’t anybody else see this? How much of her crap are we going to have to put up with?

abortions are not always “elective.” to compare some vain person who wants cosmetic surgery to someone who needs a procedure to save her life is intellectually dishonest.

and i don’t care what the hypocrites in the Catholic Church say.

October 29, 2009 Freedom of Speech TX writes:

Dear Leland IL,

You have your opinion; I would have it no other way.

However, you are playing the “depends how you define what is is game”.

Any reasonable person would agree that to save a life trumps. You Sir are the one who is intellectually dishonest. That is a weak example.

I’ll be intellectually honest. In the future please help keep the far left Chicago politicians in Illinois. Surely there is “productive” employment there…

Pelosi and Biden bytheir actions have excommunicated themselves (as have many other Catholic politicians ).This is stated in Canon law.Now is the time for the Bishops to refuse giving them Eucharist.

To become pregnant is a result of an act of personal choice. So is the decision to murder the result. PERSONAL CHOICE PAYS *however they can,)FOR THEIR OWN! Why is there even a hint of ABORTION under taxpayer obligation in the first place, when it stems from individual, personal responsibility?

Pelosi has said that Stupak “will not have his amendment”. Nancy, without that amendment, 40 of your own may walk and you “will not have your bill. It appears Stupak may have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express recently. Bravo Bart.
