  • Morning Bell: A Whole New Health Care Ball Game

You have to read all the way to page A-25 in today’s New York Times to learn about it, but the Senate took its first floor vote on Obamacare yesterday and the White House lost. Big. The NYT reports: “Democrats lost a big test vote on health care legislation on Wednesday as the Senate blocked action on a bill to increase Medicare payments to doctors at a cost of $247 billion over 10 years. The Senate majority leader, Harry Reid, Democrat of Nevada, needed 60 votes to proceed. He won only 47. And he could not blame Republicans. A dozen Democrats and one independent crossed party lines and voted with Republicans on the 53 to 47 roll call.”

As we reported on Monday and Tuesday, yesterday’s “doc fix” vote was part of a White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel strategy to smooth passage of President Barack Obama’s $1 trillion-plus health care overhaul by transferring a quarter of its cost into a separate, and completely unpaid for, bill. This transparently dishonest shell game was too much for honest Democratic Senators like Evan Bayh (D-IN), Kent Conrad (D-ND), Russ Feingold (D-WI), Claire McCaskill (D-MO), Bill Nelson (D-FL), and Ron Wyden (D-OR). Wyden told the NYT: “On the eve of a historic debate on health care, it’s essential to show a commitment to real reform,” which includes fiscal responsibility.

Yesterday’s vote marks a significant failure of the Left’s special interest approach to passing Obamacare. From the beginning, the White House thought that if it bought off all of the business interests involved (the American Medical Association, the drug industry, health insurers, hospitals, etc.) opposition to the plan would wither. In one sense, the plan worked. USA Today reports PhRMA, Pfizer, America’s Health Insurance Plans, and the Federation of American Hospitals have all ponied up millions of dollars for lobbying and television ads in support of Obamacare.

But all these special interest television ads failed to rid Americans of their common sense objections to Obamacare’s government takeover of health care. Gallup reports today that Americans now more than ever believe the costs their family pays for health care will get worse if Obamacare passes. And more Americans now believe that Obamacare will lower the quality of care they receive, reduce their health care coverage, and complicate the insurance company requirements they have to meet to get certain treatments covered.

Instead of the massive overhaul being pursued by the White House, a solid majority of Americans tell Gallup they want to see Congress move in the opposite direction. By 58% to 38%, Americans would generally prefer to see Congress deal with health care reform “on a gradual basis over several years” rather than “try to pass a comprehensive health care reform plan this year.” Bipartisan, fiscally responsible, reform such as equalizing the tax treatment of health insurance purchases, freeing customers to purchase health insurance across state lines, and allowing states more flexibility on Medicaid spending are readily doable. And that is what the people want.

    Quick Hits:

    • In a violation of laws against government-funded propaganda, the official, taxpayer funded, Department of Health and Human Services website urges Americans to to send an e-mail to President Barack Obama praising his health care reform plan.
    • According to a new report, 7 months after President Barack Obama’s $787 billion stimulus became law, 49 of 50 states have lost jobs and America is now over 6 million jobs shy of White House promises.
    • The Obama administration’s wage control czar plans to order companies that received bailout money to slash pay for each of the companies highest paid employees by an average of 50%.
    • The drug and insurance industries have spent millions of dollars lobbying Congress in favor of Obamacare.
    • Windmills’ propensity to kill bats is pitting endangered species advocates against climate change scaremongers.

Why does this President think he can buy-off everyone, Oh yeah Chicago politic's trained him, Acorn made him Bloom into the Weed that everyone sees today.

Propoganda, Buy Off's, tax evaders in the highest offices in the land this is NOT my country. Time for a CHANGE all right, 11/2010

We the people will NOT allow this kind of Marixum to flourish, WE THE PEOPLE, not I the DICTATOR and my henchmen….

Thank you Heritage for being a place where we can find the REAL NEWS and the TRUTH. I will be a member on Heritage forever.

    2. Bill Luinetti, Dayto says:

Kudos to the Heritage Foundation for their persistence, and to those RESPONSIBLE Democratic Senators who appear to require that their constituents welfare have higher priority than this ne'er do well administration, and their Chicago-bully tactics.

    3. Dean-Texas/Alaska says:

No mention of personal responsibility. Why should others pay for those too stupid to stop smoking?

    4. Freedom of Speech, T says:

One can argue that if this Bill would have passed, the story would have been on the front page of numerous newspapers. We will never know since this political shell game was stopped. The Republicans did not stop it. Americans from both parties who had moral courage stopped it.

I believe Joseph Stalin had a sign erected Berlin that said something to the effect of -

"If you control the media, you control the people."

We still have a Constitution that will stop this. Other countries are not so fortunate.

    5. Dr Duncan Druhl, Fra says:

What I fail to understand is why it seems that nobody is putting forward the apparently reasonable argument that health care return to the simple doctor-patient relationship which dominated the health care landscape before Nixon's demand for HMO development and, even, before the creation of the monster that began inflating prices: Medicare as Johnson created. Okay, getting government completely out of what should be a private business looks impossible, even though local hospitals always split the indigent and "poor" care load before the advent of Medicare.

Disband the HMO's and for-profit agencies that have made a mockery of the profession and get doctors back to doing what they should do: private practice, as they used to before 1965 when medical costs were inflating at less than the general rate.

It doesn't take a Ph.D. economist to tell you that removing the middle-men from the supply equation will reduce the delivered cost, all other things being equal as competent doctors do not have that many worries about competing for patient loads.

However, it is not the physicians which are the impediment, here; rather it is the marriage between business and government which has brought us the mess that is medical care in the US. I don't think the Congress or anyone else has the courage or power to straighten it out, now.

Should we be grateful that it is in the paper at all?

    7. Yvonne Wittig Larne says:

This is the best news that has come out of Washington since the election.Thank God for some honest Democrats in Congress.Just like the stimilus, what would actually help is not considered. Tort reform and insurance companies to cross state lines would be a way to go,and it wouldn't cost tax payers any money and keep the government out of it.

    10. Richard Cancemi, Arl says:

All health care reform attempts should exclude the government from becoming a controller/provider.

Government's efforts should be in the role of referee, overseeing the private sector where health care delivery should remain. There is much that can be done to improve the honesty of all parties involved, "IF" we had an honest government!

Our current government, especially the Executive branch, is the most dishonest and anti-American this country has EVER experienced! Everything coming from it are LIES presented in every conceivable form imaginable!

They never say what they mean; They never mean what they say!

As for ObamaCare, no amount of amending or tweaking will ever make a bad bill become good. It will always remain bad in its core. The efforts needs to be totally scrapped and a new PRIVATE initiative begun, one that truly has the public's interests at heart!

    11. Richard Cancemi, Arl says:

      Amen to Dr. Druhl's comment!

    12. jim toledo says:

Hurrah to those with the 'stones' to stand up for the American people and do what is right. It's a great thing to see all of the Republicans, finally, including Mrs. Snowe, standing firm together. Congratulations to those Democrats that have the will to to do what is right for America rather than just go along with their parties leaders. Maybe, we hope, this is the start of a debate to really fix the healthcare system and do things that will actually make it better other than to raise the rates and give the government more control. It's obvious that the hope and change people wanted isn't what the administration is dishing out.

    13. Jonathan Seid, Willi says:

The entire health care campaign is a refined patronage action. Health care in this country is excellent. It is the health care insurance that requires reform. Calling, mis-labeling, is a famous progressive/democrat tactic and it scares the hell out of citizens. Playing on citizen's fears is the hallmark of lying.

    14. Christopher Popham S says:

From all that I hear and read these days, the American people are fed up sick and tired of the dailyspin/propaganda spewed out by the WH and Congress.

Truly self serving elected officials siding with an

inexperienced young President, all chomping at the bit to jam through costly and potentially dangerous

legislation. We are in a major recession, my felow

Americans. Washington needs to focus its efforts on only one objective, that of repairing our economy

first and foremost. Instead, in such an unhealthy

fiscal climate they persist in their hopeless attempts to pass legislation that will further

damage the American economy and the average citizen.

In the names of all our founding fathers, what in the world can these 'lawmakers' be thinking, when

banks are failing, families cannot make ends meet,

foreclosures continue, consumer spending is negative

and so much more. Congress, it's time to consider your constituents, instead of devising expensive

programs, that ultimately impact most people in a

most egregious way, so that you can pander to the

lobbyists and special interests, in order to fill

your campaign coffers. This is such a disgrace.

Our founders must be doing sommersaults in their

graves as they observe this once democratic government deny and shred the Constitution, while

'mandating' our health care choices. Until all

      Federal government employees, especially Congress,

agree to subscribe to the new health care plan, then

I, for one, shall never support this initiative.

On this issue and the Boxer/Kerry cap&trade bill, plus excessive taxation, the American people will

stand for just so much. Get the economy back on track, then we'll talk about health care options in a few years. Just remember from whence this whole

issue originated. Just recall the admonitions of

socialist Saul Alinsky and put the puzzle together.

I don't care what your source your 'faith' might be, but if God was ever going to bless America, He should do so now.

While many of my posts do not get printed, at least I stick to it thinking, at least I'm getting this fear off my mind.

Obamacare and the people who surround him personally, as white house Chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel and Ezekiel Emanuel ;Axelrod; and the many Czars, all seem to come from the same cut of cloth. Many have dual Citizenship, are acomplished writers of Marxist belief, forced abortions,

      sterialization,euthanasia;and collectivism.

Meaning the good of the Govervment will preside over personal freedom and personal choices.

Why do we not have lawyers of great understanding of the constitution of these United States coming to the defence of our constitutional rights?

Reich, said the older people have to accept dying sooner than latter to save medical funds that will be spent on trying to give a person of some years, the right to enjoy their families as long as they can!

Suddenly, we have people with the audacity {whose word does that belong to?}to now publically advertise on billboards that , you don't need GOD, to have a life. These people now feel comfortable to spend their money openly in support of killing off religeon and making the Government the Savior and keeper of your life.

Obama comes from a diffent upbringing, as does his wife, trying to make changes to our government and to our lives as no one has ever tried before.

He alone can not do this, that's why all the Czars are needed, to dismantle out finacial system and businesses that keep people working for a living.

      They scare me;

      they frighten me;

      You should be frightened too!

I wonder how long will it take for decent people to see the hand that is being dealt to us?

Our Government has been corrupt for a while and those that have been in congress and the senate for so long, do not care about your personal freedom.

Obama seeks to change our government as he promised, using the corrupt officals to an easy distruction.

God Bless Our troops; God Bless America!

You need to publish the questions asked in the pole which is cited in this report. I would like to know exactly the phrasing of the questions. This can skew the answers if not worded correctly.

It would also be interesting to see how things would turn out if the $263,000,000 being spent by lobbiests were extracted from the debate.

Special interests Lobbies serve only themselves, not the public interest. Elected representatives are in office to serve the interest of the public.

    18. Beth, Fairfax, VA says:

Keep those phone calls coming to your Senators!! It still WORKS! I know Webb and Warner got several calls and they voted NAY (to my surprise in the case of Webb). My thanks to them for listening to their constituents. Many of us were starting to think we were speaking into a black hole every time we expressed our opinions to Washington, but maybe we're heading for some TRUE "Hope and Change"! Can't wait until 2010. It's time for a "changing of the guard" American style.

    19. Jim Goodrich, Miami says:

Health an Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has urged "Americans" to support the Presidents Health Care Bill by posting a link on the HHS government web site. Using a taxpayer funded website to promote and campaign for a bill that most Americans know will not only mean higher costs for Medical care but also make it much more difficult to access the Doctors of your choice. This needs to be immediately removed from this government website. To add to the audacity, HHS is including "Americans" that are 13 years old or older may sent their support to the President. Want to bet some Teachers will encourage this to students.

    20. G-Man, VA says:

…my Senators are finaling getting it! Both Senator Webb and Warner voted 'NO' to S. 1776! Minor victory, and I am still tracking their votes, but they finally represented the "Old Dominion!"

    21. Roni, North Carolina says:

I truly appreciate the 12 Democrats and the one Independent that stepped across the aisle in the American peoples favor. However, I don't believe the issue on healthcare to come to a halt. Obama wants the "honor" of being the one who got it passed. His concern is not for the people but for his own notabilities. My hats off to Senator Grassley for going against the scam the HHS is pulling, and bringing it to light.

I hope the majority of American citizens appreciate the Senators who stood on our side, and that they are smiling as much as I am.

    22. Sandy, TX says:

One minor detail that has escaped almost ALL coverage and debate. Obama doesn't have a plan–never had a plan–still hasn't contributed to a plan. All he has is basic socialist theory. He has "left" it to the wack-jobs of Congress to actually write something up.

    23. Ron Derry NH says:

Yea, a token amount of patriots still exist.

I hear the rhetoric from the left and as usually it sounds good, but in the end they implement the same diseased legislation that they say they are trying to cure.

America has a fever, as Al Gore said, but it is being spread from Washington not us.

Give them enough time and they will find away to impose legislation against America's success that sounds well enough on paper.

Welfare has destroyed the families that have succumbed to its sublime elixir of irresponsibility, inexpensive housing loans set up to cheat the nations monetary value has collapse the housing loan market, free medicine to illegals has burdened the medical profession, all of these Democrat solutions sound good and deliver predictable consequences, are implemented poorly and burden the value of those earning a fair wage.

In the end human worth becomes expendable to the leadership trying to preserve its political power.

So the dems have another president with another solution; BURDEN more working class people who are setting the monetary value of a nation with their productivity, to pay for another really nice sounding idea ready to be implemented in the same old inefficient, bureaucrat, cost defective, politically guided way.

I am glad a few responsible, patriotic minded Americans on both sides of the isle have chosen to defend us against the Marxist destruction of our worth.

Although reducing the dollars worth by 60% by the abundant printing of money is pretty much the grandest theft of value from a civilization that any leader ever chose to impose upon his own people, with the full knowledge of its consequences being scoffed at by the media. Devaluation of worth, chosen by leaders to insure the monetary gains of political allies is neither equalizing the playing field or being fair and especially not in the spirit of America's Constitutional Republic. They are supposed to be protecting us, and our worth is us.

Stealing from hard working Doctors and medical professionals to shift worth to those who refuse to get insurance, come here illegally or just don't care for themselves is criminal even if it is based on saintly idealism. Hopefully, the fact that our monetary system is failing as the Obama and fed pile up the debt into another bubble infused crash, some will start recognizing the need to stop this calamity of Marxist Utopian idealism and its resulting destruction of hope and self worth being levied against Americanism.

Marxism is the purposeful destruction of self earned worth, and the forced state of slavery toward a government imposed cause. It is neither fair or a solution, it is servitude to the state!

Learn to understand that danger and you will understand why I called these leaders that have resisted compliance to the left's Marxist ambitions, as patriots. Government has no business selectively choosing the worth of its people by allotting value by political invention. When it does get into that, it is in human value trafficking….SLAVERY.

I salute all patriots that wrestle with the nations legislated financial calamity and choose not to add more to the damage already woven by 40 years of poorly conceived liberal notions.

    24. Gary in Minnesota says:

I wrote here that this was a hard hit because it'll force Democrats to include the fix in the main bill, meaning wobbly Democrats won't have the political cover that the original scoring gave them:

I've also posted that CBO scoring shouldn't be our only benchmark for the health care legislation, that it's easy to balance something if you add enough tax increases.

I have a list of 10 questions that Democrats haven't been asked:

    25. Ben C, Ann Arbor says:

The doc fix vote is a minor victory in a huge war. While any "win" needs to be enjoyed it should further encourage us to persist. Remember, this is nothing more than a giant chess game – little pawn here and there until the "king" is caputred and the Obama agenda is passed.

    27. Mike Sheahen, Hickor says:

One army, the most powerful army in the world at that time, won more battles than they lost in a war in some of their colonies in North America, but lost that war; another army after that won the Battle at the Alamo, but lost the war; another army after that won the First Battle of Bull Run, but lost the war; another army after that won the battle for Dunkirk, but lost the war; another force won the battle for Wake Island, but lost the war; another force after that won the battle for Inchon, but wasn’t allowed by its’ political controllers to win the war (which remains not won but only in an armistice [by definition a temporary cessation of fighting, a truce]); after that, a force won far more battles than it lost, but was caused by its’ politician controllers to lose both the war and an ally to the enemy anyway, and yet again the (as of yet) most powerful military in the world, from the world’s one remaining superpower, is winning battles but may yet be caused by its’ politician controllers to lose another war, not because it isn’t the most powerful force in the world, but exactly because its’ politician controllers are not as resolved and unafraid to ensure victory as the enemy’s fanatical fighters are.

Those forces, and the wars they lost, and may lose, despite the battles they’ve won, were, and are, as follows: The British Army won more battles than they lost in some of their colonies in North America, but lost against the American Revolutionary War; Santa Anna’s army won the Battle at the Alamo, but lost the war against Texas’ independence; The Confederate Army won the Fist Battle of Bull Run, but lost the war which was the American Civil War; the German Army won the battle for Dunkirk, but lost their part of the war which was World War II; the Japanese military won the battle for Wake Island, but lost their part of the war which was World War II; The United States won the battle for Inchon, but wasn’t allowed by certain so-called “Progressive” politicians to win the Korean war against Communists (which remains in only an Armistice or “temporary cease-fire” condition); the United States won the most battles in the Viet Nam War, but wasn’t allowed by certain politicians to win that war against Communists, and so lost both the war and an ally, and, yet again, although our U.S. has been winning more battles against a bunch of totalitarian Islamic extremist fascist anti-freedom and even anti-educated women terrorists in places such as Afghanistan, we may yet soon lose the war against such terrorists and terrorism because of the so-called “Progressive (Leftist)” politicians now controlling our military, who are not at all resolved and unafraid to ensure victory as the enemy’s fanatical fighters are.

Yet those “Progressive” politicians are fanatically determined to force their destructive and even deadly government take-over of our lives and everything through our healthcare, no matter what, despite the fact that the majority of us don’t want that, and none of us (including current and subsequent generations) can afford such a loss.

And therein is the connection in all of this. To wit: Just because we, the people, may have won a battle against the so-called “Progressive” government elitist and statist Left, that doesn’t mean we have won the war against them for our freedoms, and that of future generations. So we must keep fighting for our freedoms, as individuals, and as the U.S.A.

these issues? There is one action that can and will end the problems of the enemy

of all that is American residing in the

White House: IMPEACHMENT. The Obama admin

has already begun to show their true colors by illegaly eliminating dissenters

such as Fox News, US Chamber of Commerce,

etc. from any and all discussions on all

issues. If this is not dictatorial and

tyrannical behavior, then you all need to

      relearn your US Constitution.

If we don't impeach these people now, then

none of you has any right to snivel later.

    39. Freedom of Speech, T says:

      Dear Jim in Redding, CA,

Think clearly. He has not done anything that is an impeachable offense. If he HAD a movement would have been started.

Further, if Congress will not even investigate their own long list of member behavioral problems, do you really believe they are going to EAT their own? The DEMS have control – period.

When it becomes politically dangerous for those in office to remain in office – they will act out of self-preservation.

This is why we have to hope that reasonable democrats start getting as sick of this as their constituents are.

This is why 2010 is so important AND selecting new, fresh candidates is critical. The good ones who put America first can stay – the rest – good riddens. THERE ARE good ones but they are silenced and overwhelmed. California could sure help out by getting rid of some of the biggest powerbrokers. Patience my friend.

    41. Mike, North Carolina says:

Impeach? Sometimes it may be like "playing with fire" to touch a call as emotionally charged as that, but, unfortunately in this case for us, the people, it doesn't make it as a completely thought-out call for such action.

Why? Well first, beyond the fact that the U.S. House of Representatives has to be the one to Impeach the President of the United States (which happened to President Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton), and the U.S. Senate then has to vote to remove the President from office (which didn't happen in the case of both President Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton), and the fact that there is no Constitutional provision for Impeaching any (let alone all) members of Congress, but it is possible to recall members of Congress out of office, in the case of such as Obama and his Comrades who have such majority control of Congress, there are a few questions and answers which make Impeaching him, and removing his Comrades from Congress, both extremely unrealisitic and improbable.

First, Impeach Obama? Even though there is the Constitutional provision for that to happen, it won't happen because of his Comrades who have so much of a majority control of Congress, those who are in the entire line of succession, from Vice President onward, are each at least as much of a vote-buying, demagoguing and pandering, power and money-grabbing government elitist as he is.

Recall out of office, before the next elections, all of Obama's Comrades who have so much of a majority control of Congress?

Most people don't even know whether or not they can do that, which makes that all that much more improbable than it already is, all things considered.

So, even though it'll be too late for too many of the freedoms and too much of the resources and security or both current and furture generations, the next chances we, the people, most likely have to "clean up" the Congress and the White House are the elections of 2010 and 2012.

    42. Andy, Minnesota says:

Obama and his crew are carrying out a plan that was put to them before his election.

Why isn't anyone, including Fox, targeting the Federal Reserve? Why do we have a board member from a private company that controls our money and our debt in the Treasury?

The Federal Reserve is loving this. The more money we print the bigger the snowball it creates for their pocket.

This world may have been a little different if JFK got his wish and the interest sucking machine had gone away back then.

We should control our own money, own economy, own interest, own inflation…not someone who toys with our lives for their own profit.

When our economy crashes, and America goes belly-up, who will own us then.

In this war, the Fed and the like are the general behind the lines and the Democratic-Omaba machine is its Lieutenant in the field.

They will not stop until they can throw the switch and bring this great nation to its knees, from the poorest to the seven figure executive.

No one will be safe. The end game will consume us all.

    44. Harry, Illinois says:

Prior to actually voting on any future legislation whether it be Obamacare, Cap & Tax, etc. that each and every representative including the speakers of each house must sign a sworn affidavit and take a solomn oath prior to voting on these future bills that they have read and understand the ENTIRE piece of legislation. They must also physically be present when any major legislation is voted on so that they can be seen by all of the voters showing that they have dutifully sworn to have read and understand the bill. This procedure will serve as a road block in order to attempt any future squeeze plays to minimally pass a bill without an actual majority vote.

I for the life of me cannot understand how these individuals can stand before the american public and act so piously and sanctimoniously debate and put forth a piece of lesgialation they they have not even read. It's absolutely ridiculous..

Also, one more comment, all future bills must bear the signatures of the parties that have actually crafted the bill. I mean after all, our constitution was signed by all of our founding fathers. Why can't these so called representatives do like wise. Or are they ashamed to sign the bill let alone read it. No more bogus bills.

First, I APPLAUD Claire McMaskill (D-MO) for voting against this "anti-American citizen" health care bill that WILL rob us of our freedom of choice in who cares for us, how they care for us, and who pays for it, thus forcing all of us into the single-payer, government-run, corrupt catastrophe they so casually call "the public option" that will further push our citizens into poverty so they can then Really take over EVERY aspect of our lives- including controlling and rationing our Water usage (even OUR well water)!! We, The People of the United States of America, DEMAND that this Administration, this Congress, tis Senate, and all other government officials fulfill their jobs allthewhile obeying the OATH they took to represent THE PEOPLE of this great nation And Uphold And Defend THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA against ALL ENEMIES Foreign And Domestic!!! Meanwhile Uphold And Protect The Sovreignty of The United States from All ENEMIES Foreign And Domestic!!! SO HELP ME GOD!!! Our forefathers are probably rolling in their graves over what is going on in and around our government right now.WE, THE PEOPLE, MUST DEMAND that our lawmakers represent US, not special interests and lobyists. Uphold, Protect, and Defend The Constitution, And Our Nations Sovreignty against All Enemies…, no matter who they are. Give the military the men, women, and means they need to WIN the war on terror so they can come home with Victory!Call and Write your congressmen and senators and tell them NO to Obamacare, NO to higher taxes, NO to cap and trade, NO to anything like the "fairness doctrine", Drill Here, Drill Now! Seventy-two hours MINIMUM for us to view Any and All bills before voting on them. Complete Transparency in All that they do. We, The People, Do Not want to be under the Communist rule of a One-World Government that would strip us of our Constitutional rights, our independence, and our Freedoms to become "slaves" of the government who would control Every aspect of our lives!!!

The Constitution gives NO AUTHORITY to the Congress OR the President to "give, meddle* OR otherwise provide for the "the general welfare".

The operative word is "promote" NOT provide SOOO

NO entitlement program is constitutional NOT Medicaid, Medicare, Aid to Dependent Children (commonly known as "welfare"), etc. etc. You fill in the many programs which are filled with corruption and bureaucratic waste! Bail out of banks, take over of GM, you can name many more and passing a bill in the House and Senate DOESN'T MAKE IT CONSTITUTIONAL! There should be NO Dept. of Education — that's reserved to the states. Ditto Health and Human Services.

Also, Ron Paul has been advocating "End the Fed"

and has 303 cosponsors to his HR1207 to AUDIT it He has been on many top tv shows since he ran for

      President last year.

Please forgive me if this has been mentioned. I have not read every comment but am just wondering if anyone has touched on the administrative cost of implementing government health care.I haven't seen any stats and I'm just wondering if all the figures thrown around is including this cost?

You mentioned the Dept of Education. I believe that came into existence under Jimmy CArter. Those that wanted it, told Jimmy Carter that they would help him get elected President in return for the DOE. And voila! The DOE was born shortly after Carter took office. It boggles my mind how BIG these agencies are…and all the harm they do. And NOW, we are suppose to look foward to the government running health care???? I wish we could get rid of the DOE along with the IRS, Welfare, Social Security and any other agency that sucks the life blood out of us.

    54. Paul Schwab, Centerv says:

Wouldn't it be good if we were to start all over again? We truly need to establish Term Limits in this wonderful Country of ours.

Limit Supreme Court, House and Senate and President to two four year terms. We could also establish this on a State and local level as well. We could start on a local level, then go to State level. Each State could go forth demanding an amendment to the Constitution.

We the people must stand up and demand that our EMPLOYEES IN WASHINGTON, do the right thing now, or we will replace them with someone who will. Remember these folks are supposed to be working for us, instead of lining their own pockets, living the good life, then retiring gracefully at our expense.

Join a Liberty group or a Tea Party to get things started folks. If we continue letting our EMPLOYEES IN WASHINGTON do whatever they wish, they will continue doing what they have been doing for a long time now.

We can take America back by standing up for what is right.

God Bless America. IN GOD WE TRUST.

I have been reading and watching all the comments and reports for some time now and have not seen anyone tell these liberals to denounce their citizenship of the US, take 20k and go live in a socialist country for a year. They cannot use any influences to get a real job or accept any money. They will be on their own as many of us today. None of these people have any experience of what it means to live in a socialist/communist country. I was fortunate to be naturalized in the US, after my parents were deported from their country (that pesky thing called WW2)survived Siberia and worked their way to the states. In no way was their aid from any state agency or otherwise. THEY WORKED. No handout, no entitements, nothing free. What happened to our country. I see what my extended family lived through the communist days and now struggle for simple things like medical care. You stand in line for hours (think depression), see the doctor and if he was a party member would decide if you got medicine or not….Make no mistake this will happen if we let the foundation of our founding fathers deminish. We don't want to believe it, it will happen to someone else, it won't happen to the USA, it will….if we let it. Glenn Beck had a great segment yesterday when he was talking about the young people of today, under 30, that they have this attitude, and that the generation of the 80's gave it to them. What happened to our generation? Did we forget that we worked for what we had also, why not pass that on to the next generation. Instead we have complete ignorant ingrates that want want want…
