This is more proof that when you present a "red reset button" to Russian leaders, it's liable to blow up in your face.

Russia has NEVER been a democracy or a republic. You cannot expect their leaders to embrace freedom. Why should they do that when they can still control everything?

They are looking out for their own self-interests, as they always have.

We use to look out for our self-interests (LIKE EVERY PEOPLE OR COUNTRY IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD) but THAT was mean.

NOW - we should all be ashamed of using our freedom, ingenuity, and resolve to climb to the top. WHILE - being the most charitable country in the history of the world.

BUT, we used too many "resources". Now we are apologists. Who thought up this left wing trash? Is this what we send our kids to college for?

Does any sane person truly believe that while we tear our system, and way of life - apart - that other powers are not going to go fast forward?

This is beyond naivete.

Excellent post. Having lived in Bulgaria, I can say that the Bulgarians already feel like the US abandoned them at Yalta and left them to wallow under Soviet domination for 45 years. They have faith in the US, but are also very wary of our promises. Seems like our current president is only concerened with what the bad guys think of us and not what true allies do.

Central and Eastern Europe have correctly judged that they've been thrown to the Russian bear as live-feed. But since their future really doesn't mean anything to the Obama administration, this was an acceptable course of action.

Obama's complete cave-in to Putin's demands that the missile shield be removed will only inspire Eastern European nations to make the best deals they can with the former USSR - and some of these could prove very bad for US policy. Don't look for many more Eastern European troops for peacekeeping missions elsewhere. Obama has once again proven the USA to be an unreliable ally and that endangers the world cooperation He Himself is trying to build.
