The House Cloakroom: Oct. 5 – 9

House Analysis –
All eyes are on the Senate next week as they continue their work in committee on health care and cap and trade. The House is expected to have a light legislative week once again with no votes on Monday. The House will continue to try and wrap up several appropriations bills including Agriculture and Homeland Security. One semi-controversial bill, HR 2442, expected to be voted on next week would fund $32.2 million to the San Francisco Bay Area for six water recycling programs. Critics charge this ignores other areas of California having extreme water issues.

Major House Floor Action –
Consideration of the conference report for the fiscal 2010 Agriculture Appropriations bill (HR 2297)
Bay Area Regional Water Recycling Program Expansion Act of 2009 (HR 2442)
Possible consideration of the conference report for the fiscal 2010 Homeland Security Appropriations bill (HR 2892)

Major House Committee Action –
No major committee action this week.

Amazing that the Speaker will NOT push for allowing water to thousands of farmers in what was once some of the world’s best cropland.

The reason - a minnow.

Glad to see our Dear Leaders have their priorities in order.
