About The Heritage Foundation

Founded in 1973, The Heritage Foundation is a research and educational institution—a think tank—whose mission is to formulate and promote conservative public policies based on the principles of free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a strong national defense. We believe the principles and ideas of the American Founding are worth conserving and renewing. As policy entrepreneurs, we believe the most effective solutions are consistent with those ideas and principles.

Obamacare Senate Floor Vote Next Week?

Posted September 29th, 2009 at 1:30pm in Health Care 1 Print This Post Print This Post

Multiple sources on the Hill have told The Foundry that as early as next week, the Senate could be debating Obamacare. This is a possibility and not something that has been scheduled, but senior Senate staffers on the Hill are buzzing about the Senate Majority Leader using a House passed tax bill to jumpstart debate next week on Obamacare.

It is important to note that the Senate does not have a bill ready for the Senate floor yet. Senate Majority Leader Reid has stated an intention to take the HELP Committee product and merge it with the Senate Finance Committee markup that is expected to be over by this Thursday or Friday. The details are in flux, but the bottom line is that it is possible that the Senate will be debating Obamacare as early as next week.

If this “HEALTH CARE REFORM” passes at a cost to the taxpayers, we will be certain who is behind the evil. “Insurance” is not “reform” and “reform” is without cost!
