Wanted: Obama Healthcare Reform Volunteers Willing To Be Paid $15 An Hour

It probably shouldn’t be too surprising that the same administration that confuses “public service” with “working for the governemnt” also feels the need to pay its “volunteers” $15 an hour. The Los Angeles Times reports The website’s large-type headline announces: “Work to Pass Obama’s Healthcare Plan and Get Paid to Do it! $10-15 hr!” It’s a web ad on Craigslist: “You can work for change. Join motivated staff around the country working to make change happen. You can make great friends and money along the way. Earn $400-$600 a week.” … More

Cap And Trade’s Creators: Cap And Trade Can’t Solve Global Warming

The Wall Street Journal tracks down three of the economists who originally helped come up with the idea of cap and trade and finds that all three do not believe the system can be used to stop global warming. Then University of Wisconsin graduate student and now University of Wyoming professor outlines two problems with carbon cap and trade: The first is that carbon emissions are a global problem with myriad sources. Cap-and-trade, he says, is better suited for discrete, local pollution problems. “It is not clear to me how … More

Why Carafano Has it Right on Climate Change, Part II

In response to Heritage analyst James Carafano’s paper, “National Security Not a Good Argument for Global Warming Legislation”, the American Security Project responded to four “myths” in Carafano’s piece. But their retaliatory facts ignore Carafano’s central premise that the Waxman-Markey cap and trade bill will do much more economic harm than environmental good and would undermine “the nation’s capacity to deal with natural disasters here and abroad.” Part I is here. ASP’s other two critiques are: 1.) Refuting Carafano’s notion that “U.S. action alone would not impact world CO2 levels.” … More

    Townhall Downfall: Astroturf Doctors?

You may have seen yesterday’s video of Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) speaking on her cell phone while a cancer survivor spoke to her about health care reform. Well now comes news that the pro-Obamacare voices in the crowd were not entirely legitimate. A primary care physician identified as Dr. Roxana Meyer stood up and praised the President’s health care plan for overhauling a broken system. Meyer said: “I don’t know what there is in the bill that creates such panic.” The Congresswoman asked the crowd to give her a … More

Why Carafano Has it Right on Climate Change, Part I

In response to Heritage analyst James Carafano’s paper, “National Security Not a Good Argument for Global Warming Legislation”, the American Security Project responded to four “myths” in Carafano’s piece. But their retaliatory facts ignore Carafano’s central premise that the Waxman-Markey cap and trade bill will do much more economic harm than environmental good and would undermine “the nation’s capacity to deal with natural disasters here and abroad.” The truth is the climate has been changing on its own for centuries and wide scientific dissent exists disputing how much warming is … More

Union Announcement Proves Left is Buying “Grass Roots” Support

It’s time for the Left to quit pretending that conservative activism is artificial and orchestrated, but liberal activism is genuine. They haven’t presented credible evidence that the huge crowds at town hall meetings are paid shills. But there’s plenty of evidence that the Left relies on huge numbers of paid workers to hit the streets and show up at meetings. The biggest proof is an announcement made in January—long before the town hall flare-ups—by the SEIU labor union (Service Employees International Union). This is the union whose purple shirts are … More

The Foundry is Proud to Call You Our Friends

You may have recently seen Keith Olbermann of MsNBC’s ”Countdown” mention The Foundry in his “World’s Best Persons” segment.  Then again, you may not have, since Countdown’s ratings are at their lowest levels since 2007 and running a distant third behind its competitors. (We saw it on HotAir.com) So just in case, we wanted to share the clip with you.  Apparently, Fox News’ Steve Doocy gave his viewers several great questions that were appropriate to ask their representatives at townhalls across the nation. Doocy said a “friend” sent him the questions, and Olbermann demonized him since the … More

    Obama Promises Immigration Alamo

The New York Times reported August 10th: “President Obama on Monday reiterated his commitment to pursuing comprehensive immigration reform, despite his packed political agenda….” He must be serious; Obama has made that pledge to reporters twice in four days. On both occasions, the President also said he plans to start off where the Bush administration left off and introduce a bill that gives amnesty to the entire unlawful population in the United States (generally estimated at about 11 million). Reports are this bill is being written behind close doors with … More

    How Safe Are Pakistan’s Nukes?

A recently-released study by British academic Shaun Gregory that claims Pakistani nuclear complexes have been attacked on three occasions in the last two years has stirred fresh concerns about the safety and security of Pakistan’s nuclear assets. Ensuring that Pakistani nukes stay out of the hands of terrorists certainly must be priority number one for the U.S. government. However, there is little need to panic about this issue, at least in the short-term. The study cites three attacks since November 2007 – one on a nuclear missile facility, one at … More

Morning Bell: We’re Winning The Health Care Debate

When any White House knows they are a losing a public debate, they turn to sympathetic journalists to try and reframe the debate in a way that is more advantageous to their policy goals. So after consulting with his best White House sources, The Atlantic’s Marc Ambinder wrote under the headline How Conservatives Are Blowing Their Chance, Sunday: “Democrats are beginning to notice that opponents of health care reform have discredited themselves. … The media, being a collection of different megaphones, reported on the town hall meetings in one of … More
