Townhall Downfall: Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) Admits Obamacare Will Fund Abortions

The New York Times and FactCheck.org both claim that Obamacare will not allow taxpayer funding of abortion. As this townhall video shows, Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) disagrees:

Lofgren is correct. The Heritage Foundaiton’s Bob Moffit details how taxpayer funding for abortion survived the House Energy and Commerce mark up process:
Rep. Lois Capps (D-CA) offered an amendment that would require at least one insurance plan to cover abortion in each geographical region. The amendment would also require the newly-created public plan to cover all abortion services, depending upon the fate of the Hyde Amendment, the measure that currently restricts federal funding of abortion. Rep. Capps’ amendment would also allow affordability credits, which are taxpayer-funded subsidies, to be used for health insurance plans that cover abortions.
Rep. Joe Pitts (R-PA) and Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI) jointly introduced an amendment that would specifically prohibit federal funds from being used to cover abortion services. The Pitts-Stupak amendment failed. Rep. Pitts also offered an amendment to block any government requirement on health insurance networks to include abortion. Although this second Pitts amendment initially passed, it was reconsidered and it failed on the second Committee vote. Based on the passage of the Capps amendment and failure of the Pitts and Stupak amendments, taxpayers would end up financing abortion.

Yes, they want to kill babies and grannies. It’s time to get off the fence. Choose apathy and you are in agreement with this evil. Choose the fight and you will be labeled a criminal -part of the M.O.B. They won’t even give you credit for using your own brain/conscience-you will be one of the manipulated. Choose this day whom you will serve?

That’s easy: It is utterly unthinkable to force anybody to pay for somebody else’s beliefs or conscience. To the best of my knowledge, that is exactly what this legislation will accomplish. It must never be enacted in this form. Should it be enacted, it must be challenged in the courts until all venues are exhausted. Should even that fail, civil disobedience may be in order. This whole thing is utterly un American, even anti American.

BESIDE THE ECONOMICAL BURDEN….WHAT ELSE THIS SO CALLED HEALTH PLAN OFFERS?
ABORTION,EUTHANASIA,GENOCIDE___’HEALTH PLAN’….WHAT KIND OF PLAN ?…(something hidden?)
If interested, anyone can go into READ, RESEARCH, INVESTIGATE, AND – ‘read between’ the lines’….and ultimtely ANALYZE, in multiangular way, this monstruosity of proposal…..you may find that the so called ‘reform’ vectorize promotional roads to ABORTION, EUTHANASIA, AND GENOCIDE. Strange right ?
The final result is but one thing, VIRTUAL COMPLETE STERILIZATION ON USA POPULATION.
We can go even further , but this , in short for now.
And how your day is going so far ?
Wishing everyone good thinking,

The question was worded excellently. The answer, ignorant as usual. No government bill should expense for PERSONAL CHOICE.
Just like the issue on near death, (now dubbed) counseling. Government doesn’t have to offer that option at other people’s expense. If people choose this service, they will seek it without coercion or pressure, elsewhere.
On many topics the president insists, this is “what Americans want.” “want,” Mr. President, is a desire to have. “need” is a necessity to survive. Under freedom, people are expected to establish and provide for their individual “need” of their personal responsibilities, they work more for what they “want.”
Stop putting words in the mouths of Americans, Mr. President. You are ignorant to the truth of what Americans “want.” More ignorant on America’s “need.”

Finally someone in DC with the courage of thier convictions. I don’t agree with covering abortion with tax payer money, but at least she tells the truth and good for her. It seems it takes a woman to be a man, to stand and tell the truth on this issue. Now if we could only get those 400 plus girly men to do the same.

This government health care take over has everything to do with every liberal agenda they could come up with. Everything they believe in is in this bill. Take over the private insurance companies. Take over and control all medical docter, nurses, hospitals. Put unions in charge of us. Well this is not Canada, we don’t have to put up with their SOCIALISM, STAND UP FOR FREEDOM TO CHOOSE.

It is not all that surprising that the Democrat party and the liberals behind national health care want to include unrestricted voluntary abortions under their national health plan.
I learned something interesting last night on Hannity’s show. I learned that Rahm Emanual’s brother, a non-practicing physician, is an advisor to President Obama on health care. It was explained that Dr. Emanual, in his writings has shared his philosophy on the relative value of human lives. Within his philosophy, the relative value of human below the age of two and beyond the age of ifty or sixty, is less than that of someone in between those ages, all other factors being the same. Now this is the guy who is advising Mr. Obama on national health care policy.
I am not surprised at the position taken by the Congresswomen from California, but I am a bit surprised at the philosophy of Dr. Emanual. If this is the kind of advice that Mr. Obama relys on in setting policy for national health care, this is a health program that should be feared and defeated.

If the idiots in Washington feel we need to pay for abortions than in the same breath they should pay to have tubes tied so we only pay for it once. I am not recommending this at all but let’s see if they want to pass this joke with something like that in it.

I have two major problems with this blog post:
1) The first sentence is false. Factcheck.org never said that “obamacare [whatever the heck that is] will not allow for taxpayer funded abortions.” As usual their comments on the issue are nuanced, non-biased and factually accurate. I encourage everyone who reads this post to click on the link to the factcheck.org column. It is fair and informative.
2) I understand that many Heritage Foundation readers don’t want government involved in healthcare at all. The argument from the get-rid-of-medicare crowd usually has something to do with the government’s ideology getting in between people and their doctors. But if you’re opposed the government getting between individuals and their doctors, why are you fighting to deny funding for a perfectly legal medical procedure? I understand the argument for outlawing abortion, but the get-rid-of-medicare crowd should not be interested in getting between individuals and a perfectly legal medical procedure.

Factcheck.org is funded by a group that gave Obama considerable cash and hired him for their Board of Directors with William Ayers. They are not in any way a neutral party.
Who checks the fact checkers?
