About The Heritage Foundation

Founded in 1973, The Heritage Foundation is a research and educational institution—a think tank—whose mission is to formulate and promote conservative public policies based on the principles of free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a strong national defense. We believe the principles and ideas of the American Founding are worth conserving and renewing. As policy entrepreneurs, we believe the most effective solutions are consistent with those ideas and principles.

Townhall Downfall: Rep. David Scott (D-GA)

Posted August 11th, 2009 at 8:31am in Health Care 5 Print This Post Print This Post

Despite President Barack Obama’s deadline, both the House and Senate failed to pass Obama’s health care plan before they adjourned for the month of August. Now Senators and Representatives are returning home to participate in one of America’s greatest democratic traditions: the townhall.

The events afford citizens the rare opportunity to share their opinions directly with their elected officials….that is, when their elected officials aren’t berating them for asking health care questions during the question and answer period of the townhall. Watch Rep. Scott attack his constituent, Dr. Brian Hill:

Guess this congressman (note lower case) forgot he works for the people. Telling his constituency that they must come see him at his convenience, whether it is in his district or in DC, at his appointed time and place, tells the story. My dogs come to me! If you want scraps off my table you must sit up and beg!

He will lose his next election bid and the people, all the people, will be better off for it.

I love it. I hope the Dem’s in Congress and the Senate keep blasting away at the people who pay their salaries. I hope they continue to show their defiance of the American public. I hope Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid really take the gloves off and take the public to task for their boorish behavior at townhall meetings.

I want to see and hear them express their true feelings. Calling us a mob, or un-American, or even Nazis is relatively tame. I’m waiting for them to come out with the good stuff. I want to hear them call the rest of us commoners, peasants, or useful idiots. I want to hear them let loose with obscenities. In other words, I want to hear them say what they really think.

Maybe, if we can press them a little on the fleet of corporate jets they just ordered, that might send them over the edge and elicit the kind of response I am hoping for.

The public keeps forgetting, Congressmen and Senators are “special” people. They keep telling each other that. They surround themselves with teams of sychophants who are well paid to keep reminding them of their “specialness”. They tend to view the “public” as the rest of us tend to view “public restrooms”, something to be avoided unless absolutely necessary.

The audio was bad and I couldn’t hear the doctor at all, could barely hear the townhall. But what I did hear…

I agree. REPS that refuse to answer the concerns of AMERICANS, regardless of their district, on this issue, WHEN THIS VOTE WILL EFFECT ALL AMERICANS SHOW THEIR TRUE COLORS OF DESPICABLE, COWARDICE, PATHETICISM. And their hatred for America and her people. Destroying, one day at a time, all of which the people built up. Where she and ALL of her people (of legal status), could’ve stood stronger, the government continues to fail.

A true American rep’s real concern, would’ve been if there were any illegal immigrants in the audience.

Unfortunately, Scott is my rep.Have written him numerous emails regarding his dismal voting record re Cap n Trade, Tarp, Health care. Needless to say he is a “lapdog” for the Obama/Pelosi/Reid/Frank/Waxman circus. His staffers have called my family hostile for questioning his voting records, ethics & morality. With these credentials, no wonder he has been voted one of the 25th WORST POLITICANS IN D.C!
