I read the letter that my two senators from Michigan signed, and it appears that they have been seriously misled. In the second-to-last paragraph, they write "Climate change is a reality and the world cannot afford inaction." This is stated as fact, inferring that no further debate is necessary.

Yet at the same time, a large and growing number of scientists and climatologists are proving that climate change is natural, cyclical, not to be feared, and that the earth is most likely entering a cooling period. They show that there is a great lack of evidence that worldwide disasters will be caused by our gasses, and drastic CO2 reduction cannot reduce global temperature in any measurable or meaningful way.

Why are my Senators ignoring this data and supporting law that will penalize Michigan industry and cause job loss? This is not good representation. Michigan needs to retain and expand what little industry we have left, not kill it.

We need to proceed toward clean energy in a way that does not foster the hardships and inequalities that this costly bill will bring. There are many alternatives to consider before enacting this destructive energy legislation.

In the best interests of Michigan, my Senators need to oppose the Waxman-Markey bill, but I detect within their letter to the president that the political blinders on their thick heads will prevent them from doing what is right. I shall work harder to defeat them and the bill.

I can't afford not to, and neither can my Democrat neighbor. I keep trying to yank his blinders off, but he stubbornly resists.
