  • Obamacare Is Called a Trojan Horse for a Reason

This morning, the White House released a video by White House Health Reform Office communications director Linda Douglass, purporting to refute claims that President Barack Obama’s health care plan will not cause millions of Americans to lose their health insurance or doctor. Watch it:

The White House blog writes: “For the record, the President has consistently said that if you like your insurance plan, your doctor, or both, you will be able to keep them.” But all Douglass’ video really does is play clips of Obama making this same promise earlier this year.

But no one is disputing that Obama SAYS he wants to allow people to keep their insurance and doctor. Conservatives have been calling the public option a Trojan Horse for single-payer health care (which, by definition, means you would lose your current insurance and doctor), for a reason. The Greeks did not walk up to Troy, knock on the city walls and say, “Let us in so we can kill everybody.” No, they hid in a seemingly harmless gift, so the Trojans would let their guard down and bring them into the city. Only later, after time, did the Greeks spring the fatal attack. Obamacare is based on the exact same principle. Don’t believe us? Then watch Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) admit as much earlier this year:

Schakowsky tells her Health Care for America Now audience: “And next to me was a guy from the insurance company who argued against the public health insurance option, saying it wouldn’t let private insurance compete. That a public option will put the private insurance industry out of business and lead to single-payer. My single-payer friends, he was right. The man was right.”

Still don’t believe us? Then watch Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) admit as much just last week:

Frank tells a member of Single Payer Action: “I think that if we get a good public option it could lead to single-payer and that is the best way to reach single-payer. Saying you’ll do nothing till you get single-payer is a sure way never to get it. … I think the best way we’re going to get single-payer, the only way, is to have a public option and demonstrate the strength of its power.”

Still don’t believe us? Then watch Washington Post reporter Ezra Klein admit as much at Netroots Nation last year:

Klein tells his netroots audience: “They have a sneaky strategy, the point of which is to put in place something that over time the natural incentives within its own market will move it to single-payer.”

Still don’t believe us? Then watch Paul Krugman admit as much at a forum in New Jersey earlier this year:

Krugmans tells his audience: “[T]he only reason not to do [single-payer] is that politically it’s hard to do in one step…You’d have to convince people to completely give up the insurance they have, whereas something that lets people keep the insurance they have but then offers the option of a public plan, that may evolve into single-payer, but you can do it politically…”

Is the White House and Linda Douglass going to refute all the “disinformation” put out by the liberals quoted and filmed above?

The government is lying to us once again. The so called progressives are convinced that they know what is best for the citizens of the US. Some how we are not intelligent or sophisticated enough to understand these complicated issues. Let me assure them we are and soon they will understand they are employees of ours (that’s why they call public servants) subject to dismissal.

    2. Deborah, Pennsylvani says:

Are we ever going to be able to defeat what ever they have up their sleeves next?? They are bottomless pits of alternative ways to get around what ever is in their way!!

The reason is simple, democrats liberal/socialist factions have majority and there are republicans – ACCEPTING BRIBES ! ,….oh! yes !,count on this one – right, SOLD-OUT REPUBLICANS,…to vote in favour,…because the democrats DO NOT WANT TO BE BLAIMED ALONE when thier garbage explode in the face of the american public,….they want to – be able – to say that ALSO REPUBLICANS VOTE WITH THEM.

We, the public should be able to VOTE DIRECTLY IN THE INTERNET ON THOSE CRUCIAL ISSUES….WE WILL READ EVERYTING FOR IS OUR MONEY, OUR COUNTRY , OUR LIVES…..the politicians do not care but we the people do !___

      Does this sound reasonable ?

      Daniel Cabrera

PS – The tv tabloids (NBC, CNN, MSNBC) , and tabloid publications such as , THE NEW YORK TIMES, THE HUFFINGTON POST, LA TIMES , etc,… along with what is left of the quasi-hypoitized brainless "utra-obamanized " cool aid drinkers people, will not take this one lightly.

    4. Bobbie Jay says:

Obama: "Public plan is an important tool to discipline insurance companies."?

They are lying about the issue, they are lying about the need. Even the reason is a lie and an admittance that the job of "government oversight" into problems of the insurance business is taking the tax money without doing the job. In neglecting to do this government tax paid job, allowed the government to create a fictitious desperation.

Whatever isn't fabricated by the government, is a set up by the government to defame the independent, private sector. For government take over! Government power! Government control!

And if this wasn't true, they wouldn't have to lie to the country. All representing the bill, would have the same answers and understanding of the bill and present the TRUTH, THE WHOLE TRUTH to the people.

All with integrity, that protect the values, freedoms and independence of the people they serve, would have read the whole thing without hesitation.

Thank you, to those who have and with the truth, fight to protect us!

    5. Frank W. New Mexi says:

      No Government Health Care.

    6. C Stevens says:

So lets see here.. I am in the business of managing medical practices for a living. I work with Surgeons, radiologist and nuclear medicine physicians… Radiologist recently in 2007 recieved on average a 30% decrease in the technical reimbursement of MRI, CT and PET scans.

Lenders I speak with that specialize in financing in this area will no longer loan money unless competely secured because currently as much as 50% of their healthcare portfolio in this area is in default, and physician wont invest in the future because Obama's plan will drive most private practice out of business…. so……..

"We the people" end up with old technology and access to healthcare being rationed based on policies, beleive me… they wont say it, but it will be by the mere fact more facilities will close then attempt to open. This plan is like the Canadian plan where if you want services, you need to get in line for the next 60 days for your CT or MRI when your doctor wants it. So they have come here and we want to be like them?

Once the cuts come to Medicare this year and or Obama plan gets past, those paying cash upfront will get priority. It is unfortunate, but true… today we accept all patients equally, but based on the proposed cuts in this arena which could be as much as another 20 percent or better, we will not be able to afford to be in business as a private facility.

Unfortanately our politicians do not understand what is going on.. so they believe they can reform a 50 year old healthcare policy, arguably the first largest business in the US in a matter of a couple of months???? God help us!

    7. Francois Tardy, Mont says:

It's absolutely true, it's the ONLY way you can get the US to move itself in gear and get real, positive change.

Think it hasn't happened yet? I saw the US Navy and CNN discuss distances in… Kilometers? The metric system, in America?! Years ago, people were blantlantly against that, too. Where are the street gangs with pitchforks today?

A few years down, when you do have a single-payer plan, all this fuss will die down and you'll end up loving it for all it's worth. Relax, guys; you're the only thing standing in the way of progress.

    8. Grace, Florida says:

Owaaaaama can tell me over and over than "if I like the plan I have now I can keep it and if I like the Dr. I have now I can keep him". Why should I believe one thing he says when he's lied about so much already? Sorry I don't believe him and never will. He scares me and so do all of his croanies who are crying out for a single payer system.

    9. RoseS, Chicago says:

This is Chicago style politics at its worst.

    10. Borden Nettles, Fran says:

      Dear Friends,

I believe the US House of Representatives and US Senators should decide how our health care program should be improved and then set it in place as their new Health Care program. This model will uncover unintended consequences before rushing to changing the best health care in existence.

Government has proven over and over that it cannot run anything. Examples:

*The Social Security Trust Fund has been continually robbed (Since President Johnson) and the funds replaced with useless IOU’s.

*Following many years of payroll deductions our senior citizens are charged “income” tax when our corrupt government returns money taken from the citizens’ earnings.

*Has anyone noticed how well the Government handles Health Care for US Veterans.

Now is the time for each of you to contact your US Representative and US Senators:
      http://www.house.gov/ http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information

    11. Ron Gurta, Navarre, says:

It seems that affordable health care is needed and that something should be done to see that it happens. Why OVERHAUL the best medical program in the world instead of making it more affordable? ARE WE THAT STUPID ??? Medicare,Social Security, Medicaid, U.S. Post office all going broke and the government cannot run the wrecks for cash program and yet they want a government controlled health care program. The rush to get a national health plan is only a smoke screen to prevent the bill from debate and scruitny.

    12. Pat Droney, Enfield, says:

Hey Francois mind your own business. We in America couldn't care less what you Canucks think.

    13. Kerry Blair, Portlan says:

It is alarming indeed to watch Democrat politicians conspire to deceive American citizens concerning health care reform. How did we get to this place? Voter apathy and ignorance is the answer. The majority of Americans who have health insurance are happy with their coverage and want the Democrats to leave their health care alone.

    14. Rick W., Minneapolis says:

I have a sneaking suspicion you are not a Canadian. But if you are, I would love to hear your accounts of speedy, expedited care in the Canadian system. Can you see a doctor in the next couple of hours if you need to? I can. In fact, if I have chest pains as I type this, I can be in an ICU in the next hour. How about you? Good luck with your health. You'll need it.

    15. Jerry S. Dickinson, says:

Our government has provided us with an oppurtunity to tell them directly where we think the Health Care Reform disinformation is coming from, send your properly worded response to

Let them know where most of the disinformation in our world comes from do it today

    16. Richard says:

Ok the guy in one of the video's admits that the goal is to put private health insurance out of business. There by elimanting a multibillion dollar industry that pays a lot of taxes and which employes hundred's of thousands of people who also pay income taxes. Can someone explain to me the logic of elinimating an industry that provides a lot of the revenues that the government needs to operate. And what are all the employees suppose to do when their jobs are eliminated. Should they go to work for the government, an organization that always spends more than it receives. And they want to do this for what? To totally replace a system that works pretty good, but which does need some repair. Fix the problems, don't rebuild the system. There is a reason why the health insurance industry exist. It's call supply and demand. If there wasn't a demand it wouldn't exist. And no matter what they say it can't be more corrupt than the Fedral Government. Their goal is to take over everything and let the so efficent Fedral Government run our lives. Seems like this was tried before in the USSR. It didn't work then and it won't work now. The goal of this health reform bill is to put private health insurance out of business. It won't improve or reduce the cost of health care. It will lead to more waste and rationing. I have seen personally how money is being wasted by the Medicare system and they want to create a bigger form of Medicare. The fraud will only get worse if this bill passes. The politicians will feel good because they did something, because to them doing something or anything is the most important thing. They never consider the consensquences of their actions before hand. But they will be insulated from the real world where the rest of us live, so they won't have to deal with the problems they create. They seem to think that their job is to fix everything wrong or unfair in the world. Don't they understand that life is sometimes unfair that it is sometime impossible to fix a problem without creating a bigger problem. They think they can pass a law to fix everything and that doesn't work. It's not possible in the real world. Sometime bad things happen and you can't do much about it. It's call life. You just have to learn to deal with it and move on. That's not lack of compassion, that's reality. Some things you just have to accept, because there is no other choice. What is wrong with these people? Did any of them ever have any common sense or were they born stupid? On think I know for sure from past experienc. If they pass this healthcare bill, they will be trying to pass more laws in the near future to fix the problems they are now creating.

    17. Jim, Evensville Tenn says:

It is obvious that the congress and senate do not care what we think. They are calling us mobs and agitators. They do not care to hear what we think and furthermore they will do what they want in spite of what we say. We need to vote everyone of them out who supports this health non-care bill.

I for one do not want some GS-12 coming to see me to talk about death. Only under one condition, he/she is a Medical Doctor, familiar with my case, knows my genetics and I have to like him.

    18. Richard W says:

This entire video is a joke. They are basically saying to "ignore the man behind the curtain". Trust me. Trust me? I'm not saying it's him but it feels too much like der Führer. I watched the Diary of Anne Frank over the weekend just as a getaway. I couldn't get it out of mind that Storm Troopers might be the new insurance agents.

    19. Don, Michigan says:

Lets face it. Government health care is not the way to go. It is a proven fact in European socalist countries and in canada. None of #44's policies are the way to go including cap and trade. These agendas are leading us down the road to ruin, and to Socialism. What a shame for the greatest country in the world, and all due to the one in the highest office in the land, #44. I can not believe the deception that is going on in the government right now.

    20. Jerry from Chicago says:

It's amazing, one shill lies and the others swear to it.

If Jan Schakowski is so sold on the single payer system and is so sure that it will be so much better than what's available to the vast majority of Americans today. Why don't we hear her and all the other proponents of HB 3200 say that they will happily give up their federal employee health insurance program and join in the national health care plan they hav e in mind for the nrest of us? Why hasn't Mr. Obama gone on national TV with his wife and children in tow, and told the American public that he intends to be the first to sign up himself and his family for coverage under his proposed national health care plan?

I think we all know why neither he, nor any other federal employee (including Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank or any other Congressman or Senator) has done so. First of all, the vast majority of them have never read the 1,018 pages of HB 3200 and don't know what's in it. Second, especially for those who may know what is in the bill, they would never give up the coverage they now have for a system of rationed health care, with months of waiting for doctor appointments, or cancer treatments. Our President, Congressmen/women and Senators believe themselves to be royalty and as such are entitled to far better treatment than the peasants who elected them. Do you for one moment think that Mr. Obama would tolerate being told that his wife would have to wait six months for chemotheray treatment for brest cancer? Do you think Nancy Pelosi would? Do you honestly believe that any of these people would accept being told that they (or their spouse) were "too old" for a pacemaker, or an organ transplant, or that because of their age, they should "just take a pain pill"? Anyone who believes that any of these self-important people would accept this is foolish. You know they wouldn't. Not a single one of them has said they would be willing to givew up what they have in favor of the nightmare they have in store for the rest of us.

    21. Nat Rm West Palm Bea says:

It comes a time when we the public must avoid the spin by the Whitehouse and the Press and stand up to be heard as more than healthcare is involved here. The politicians see us the public who pay their salary, healthcare, perks and for-life benefits even after they leave office after one term (and they just voted themselves another raise this year) as ignorant, afraid to oppose, that we forget quickly and always re-elect incumbents. They are right that is why without any second thoughts they can push a 1200+ page Healthcare bill in 30 days without debate, a bill that they haven't even read and have exempted themselves to use but want us to use. Its a bill that goes far beyond providing coverage for those who do not have insurance or to stop the rise in medical costs. We have to read the 1200 pages of the bill. That is where you will see why the opposition is saying its inevitable that we will loose our own health plans and suffer the consequences of "rationing"and poor quality healthcare etc. To YOU its your health to THEM it means power and control. Call your Representatives and Senators.Protect yourself and your nation.

    24. Roberta McNair, Gig says:

So the whole concern is that there will be government health care.

And "Government health care is not the way to go. It is a proven fact in European socalist countries and in canada."

And "There is a reason why the health insurance industry exist. It’s call supply and demand. If there wasn’t a demand it wouldn’t exist. And no matter what they say it can’t be more corrupt than the Fedral Government."

And "I have seen personally how money is being wasted by the Medicare system and they want to create a bigger form of Medicare."

And "Can you [the Canadian commenter] see a doctor in the next couple of hours if you need to? I can. In fact, if I have chest pains as I type this, I can be in an ICU in the next hour. How about you?"

And "This plan is like the Canadian plan where if you want services, you need to get in line for the next 60 days for your CT or MRI when your doctor wants it."

First, single payer is NOT HR 3200, and HR 3200, as it stands, is NOT single payer. The real single-payer bill is HR 676. This is the bill that Jan Schakowsky supports.

Next, the claims here about the horrors of single-payer systems—and in Canada or Europe—are simply erroneous. Yes, if a Canadian had chest pains, he or she would be seen and in ICU as fast as the best places in this country. Perhaps faster, because there is no time taken up inquiring about what insurance the American has, which determines the kind of care (and even place) received.

Third, what HR 3200 proposes won't work both because it compromises too much and because it will likely cost more money than save it. And it may well require a lot of government intervention to administer. But single payer is FUNDED by the government (the single payer) and DELIVERED by private providers. But don't confuse private with for-profit. HR 676 DOES seek to take private insurance completely out of the health care equation. The goal is to have health care choices and decisions be entirely between patients and doctors. No matter what myths you've heard and read, rationing is not part of the concept, and, unlike now, where private insurance companies have the final say on what treatments and procedures a patient will receive—no matter what the doctor recommends—the "single payer" (government) will not even be involved.

As for the belief that American health care is the best in the world, the Congressional Research Service (nonpartisan and staffed with nerds and wonks) reported this in 2007:

      – "US prices for medical care commodities and services are significantly higher than in other countries (delivering comparable care) and serve as a key determinant of higher overall spending;" high insurance and drug costs are the most significant factors;

      – life expectancy in America is lower than in other OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) countries;

      – the US ranks 22nd on life expectancy at birth; post-65, it's 11th for men and 13th for women;

      – America has the third highest infant mortality rate after Turkey and Mexico;

      – heart disease, cancer, and respiratory diseases are the top OECD country causes of death; America ranks 17th for heart disease "despite (performing) substantially more invasive heart procedures than all the other (OECD) countries;"

      – quality of US health care isn't superior overall; nor do Americans "have substantially better access to health care resources, even putting aside the issue of the uninsured;" and

      – because of the cost, many Americans delay or forgo treatment.

If Medicare wastes money, it is on the Medicare Advantage and Part D programs mandated by the 2003 Act. That required money leave the Medicare system and go to private insurance and pharmaceutical expenditures that HHS cannot control.

What I do not understand is why health care is considered a commodity rather than a human necessity. I doubt that many (if any) of the readers here would want to have police, fire, public works, and library services be anything other than publicly funded. They are part of the infrastructure, safety, and general benefits our society believes should be available to all. Why is health—without which little else matters—any different from safety?

Of course Obama is lying, he is a Lawyer, is he not? Are not all attorneys taught to augue both sides of any arguement just as effectively, with the same degree of passion, and devotion, and dedication?

Seems to me, that is the perfect training for creating perfect liars! How could anyone ever tell when they are actually telling the truth about anything?

Americans should call for a Continetal Congress to create one more Amendment to the Constitution; No Member of Congress, nor the President shall be, nor shall have ever been an attorney, in any form, nor have held a degree in Law of any form.

This Nation's most important Documants, our Declaration of Independence, our Bill of Rights, and our Constituion, with the first Amendments, was not created by a majority of lawyers, but rather by a majority of business men, woring men, who new the value of Free Trade, a Controlled Government, the Freedon of States to be beyond the control of the Federal Government, the Individuals and the Citizens Rights coming above that of the Federal government.

We have far to long been led to believe that only those with the proper education in legal affairs can run our Nation and our States. I say they are wrong! Who agrees with me as a free man?

Obama is a socialist. History lesson: What countries have had czars? Communist or socialist countries. Has the USA ever had a 'czar'? Not until now. How many czars does 'spin-meister' currently have? 33 last count and rising. These clown czare account to no one- except to spin-meister himself. Where do YOU think this country is headed? Answer: Down the tubes.

'Spin-meister' BO has said during his campaign 'he wanted to remake America' and what do we have? The remaking of America into the United Socialist Republic! We have allowed it and are continuing to allow it! We need to go in mass to DC and protest–They work for US, not the other way around. They are NOT the house of LORDS!

BO, princess pelosi, Reid and the queer are all about power and control. Nothing more and nothing else. They want to own everthing and put small business, out of business with taxes. This healthcare will cause thousands to lose their jobs as small business is tapped out. Many will close, particularly those who are owned by successful baby boomers who are at retirements doorstep. They will just close and add many to the unemployment roster. Bo and company will lie, cheat and steal to get power and control. However, with this healthcare fiasco, these idiots see 77 million baby boomers who are ready for retirement. These 77 million babyboomers are what has driven this nations prosperous economy and helped make America the strong nation it 'was'. However, they are now going to enter their 'golden years' and acc to spin-meister, be a 'drag on society' and 'not be able to contribute' so they need to 'go' at the first sign they will cost anything to keep them alive. Bo doesn't even want them to 'take air' away from younger people. Spin-meister sees not providing healthcare for these 77 million a way to become 'the hero' as he has saved-the-taxpayers-tons-of-money and then he can change the constitution and get elected over and over and over. He wants to be emporer of the world! That IS coming people….

People wake up, we have to defeat him and these idiots who are putting this country in massive debt and the best way(s) we can do this is by tea parties, hounding congress to not to vote for this and other crap they do, OR if they pass healthcare for us, they MUST participate. However, they know what they are getting ready to vote on is garbage, so they chose not to participate. They just spend billions on new jets to jaunt around. Vote themselves a raise. The best way is in 2010 to vote ALL of them OUT! GONE. We can not allow a government run healthplan as it will drive the insurers out of business. It will drive small business out-of-business. Additionially, since WHEN is healthcare an entitlement to anyone? Where is freedom of choice? Is government going to buy everyone a new mercedes next? How about car insurance? Some people can't get that–is that next?

Where are consequences for behavior instead of the government to enable to continuation of poor choices and bad behavior.

This garbage HAS GOT TO END or this country WILL BE history! It is NOW happening folks!

    29. Rochelle, Colorado says:

Roberta from WA had some statistics about our health care system that do not truly reflect it. Remember this article from "The Foundry" or "Morning Bell" March 25, 09. 10 Surprising Facts about American Health Care

      * Posted March 25th, 2009 at 11.14am in Health Care.

Via the National Center for Policy Analysis, Hoover Institution senior fellow Scott Atlas identifies 10 things you probably did not know about health care:

Fact No. 1: Americans have better survival rates than Europeans for common cancers. Breast cancer mortality is 52 percent higher in Germany than in the United States, and 88 percent higher in the United Kingdom. Prostate cancer mortality is 604 percent higher in the U.K. and 457 percent higher in Norway. The mortality rate for colorectal cancer among British men and women is about 40 percent higher.

Fact No. 2: Americans have lower cancer mortality rates than Canadians. Breast cancer mortality is 9 percent higher, prostate cancer is 184 percent higher and colon cancer mortality among men is about 10 percent higher than in the United States.

Fact No. 3: Americans have better access to treatment for chronic diseases than patients in other developed countries. Some 56 percent of Americans who could benefit are taking statins, which reduce cholesterol and protect against heart disease. By comparison, of those patients who could benefit from these drugs, only 36 percent of the Dutch, 29 percent of the Swiss, 26 percent of Germans, 23 percent of Britons and 17 percent of Italians receive them.

Fact No. 4: Americans have better access to preventive cancer screening than Canadians. Take the proportion of the appropriate-age population groups who have received recommended tests for breast, cervical, prostate and colon cancer:

      * Nine of 10 middle-aged American women (89 percent) have had a mammogram, compared to less than three-fourths of Canadians (72 percent).

      * Nearly all American women (96 percent) have had a pap smear, compared to less than 90 percent of Canadians.

      * More than half of American men (54 percent) have had a PSA test, compared to less than 1 in 6 Canadians (16 percent).

      * Nearly one-third of Americans (30 percent) have had a colonoscopy, compared with less than 1 in 20 Canadians (5 percent).

Fact No. 5: Lower income Americans are in better health than comparable Canadians. Twice as many American seniors with below-median incomes self-report “excellent” health compared to Canadian seniors (11.7 percent versus 5.8 percent). Conversely, white Canadian young adults with below-median incomes are 20 percent more likely than lower income Americans to describe their health as “fair or poor.”

Fact No. 6: Americans spend less time waiting for care than patients in Canada and the U.K. Canadian and British patients wait about twice as long – sometimes more than a year – to see a specialist, to have elective surgery like hip replacements or to get radiation treatment for cancer. All told, 827,429 people are waiting for some type of procedure in Canada. In England, nearly 1.8 million people are waiting for a hospital admission or outpatient treatment.

Fact No. 7: People in countries with more government control of health care are highly dissatisfied and believe reform is needed. More than 70 percent of German, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand and British adults say their health system needs either “fundamental change” or “complete rebuilding.”

Fact No. 8: Americans are more satisfied with the care they receive than Canadians. When asked about their own health care instead of the “health care system,” more than half of Americans (51.3 percent) are very satisfied with their health care services, compared to only 41.5 percent of Canadians; a lower proportion of Americans are dissatisfied (6.8 percent) than Canadians (8.5 percent).

Fact No. 9: Americans have much better access to important new technologies like medical imaging than patients in Canada or the U.K. Maligned as a waste by economists and policymakers naïve to actual medical practice, an overwhelming majority of leading American physicians identified computerized tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as the most important medical innovations for improving patient care during the previous decade. The United States has 34 CT scanners per million Americans, compared to 12 in Canada and eight in Britain. The United States has nearly 27 MRI machines per million compared to about 6 per million in Canada and Britain.

Fact No. 10: Americans are responsible for the vast majority of all health care innovations. The top five U.S. hospitals conduct more clinical trials than all the hospitals in any other single developed country. Since the mid-1970s, the Nobel Prize in medicine or physiology has gone to American residents more often than recipients from all other countries combined. In only five of the past 34 years did a scientist living in America not win or share in the prize. Most important recent medical innovations were developed in the United States.

We have to be careful about our information. It is easy to sway opinion with a few statistics. Much is in the balance to be exact in our appreciation.

    30. Richard says:

The adgenda of this administration is not about healthcare, cap & trade, economic stimulus, global warming, climate change, TARP bailouts, etc. Their adgenda is about control. They believe they know what is best for everyone. They believe they know what is best for everything and everyone. They don't believe that most Americans are smart enough to make their own decisions. And sometimes I have to admit I have wondered if they are not right. But in the end I would rather trust my freedoms and security in the hands of a truly informed electorate than in the hands of few elitist politicians. Most Americans are moderate in their views. They are neither extremely liberal nor extremely conservative. And I believe most American believe in fair treatment for everyone.

The only freedom of choice the current administration believes in is their own. They want to control ever aspect of our lives. This is about getting control and power. That is their goal. They belive that big government is the answer and they are the ones who are best suited to run it. They attempt to make everyone believe that they can provide security for all. In the real world there is no security except that which a person is able to achive for themselves. They don't believe in the Constitution. The Constitution clearly states that the Federal government only has the powers granted by the states and the people. And yet the Federal Government constantly wants more power so they can decide what is best for us all. The Constitution was constructed to limit the power of a big Federal Government. With good reason. The Fonding Fathers knew from personal experience that freedom and liberty would be lost when too much power was centeralize in the hands of a few. They knew this from previous history. They intended to restrict the powers of the Federal Government for very good reasons. They knew that no Big Government, King, or Dicator could be trusted with too much power. Neither the Federal Government nor State Government for that matter can provde anyone with total security and freedom from grief or pain in life. It is not possible. History proves that. The only security we have as individuals is invested in our own persoanal freedoms and liberty. The government can't protect us from everything. We have to be responsible for our own lives to some extent. Our country is not perfect.

Our government is not perfect. Society is not perfect. Because people are not perfect. None of these things will ever be perfect. But the freedoms our system of government has provided for the past 200 plus years has been the best thing this world has ever had to offer. Our liberty is our best guarantee for happiness. Liberty in America has provide more good for more people than at any other time in history or in any other country in the world. Have there been mistakes and abuses, yes there have been. And good people will always have to strive to correct those kinds of things. But big government is far better at mistakes and abuses. No matter how bad some people may want it, government will never be able to legislate all problems in life. Big govenment cannot provide a perfect life for anyone.

Government is a necessay evil. Without some form of govenment anarchy would reign. But any government big enough to give you everything you want is also big enough to take aways everything you have.

If this health care bill is so great why don't they mandate that everyone be in it. Not just us, but also all Federal Employees, the President and all Congressman, and anyone else who is presently excluded from their plan. When the commitee that is formulating this bill was asked to vote on that proposal, the propoasal failed. You have to ask yourself, WHY??? Can you guess what party most of them belonged too. Personally I don't trust either party where my freedoms are concerned and I watch both parties very carefully. So why do they refuse to be a part of a healthcare system that they say will be so good for the rest of us?????????

    31. Triska says:

First Obama removed the CEO of General Motors.

[But he was just a greedy CEO...]

Then Obama bullied the Chrysler bondholders to settle for pennies on the dollar and transferred company ownership to the union.

[But the bondholders were just greedy speculators...]

Then Chrysler and GM car dealers were forced out of their franchises.

[But they were just greedy car dealers. And it's hard to feel sorry for a car dealer, right?]

Now Obama is trying to force socialized medicine on all of us.

He claims we can keep our insurance if we choose. Even though he knows if a public option is established the private insurers will eventually and inexorably be driven out

And he claims the resistance to his plan is NOT the public expressing genuinely heartfelt outrage. Oh no, he says the resistance is being lead by fake protestors organized plants of lobbyists and the insurance companies, trying to derail Beloved Leader's great plan.

      [The greedy insurance companies. ]

Obamacare has an organized effort to have people write letters to the editors of local newspapers and pack the town hall meetings with union members.

How about Obama's comment that anyone who is not helping him in his efforts to "clean up" should basically shut up and go away?

Oh and did I forget to mention the "let us know about fishy misinformation on health care in websites and casual conversations" link on the white house website

      The White House.

The great community organizer telling us to disband and shut up.

Write to your congress members. Greed is a virtue. Read Ayn Rand.

    32. Norma - Nebraska says:

Hey Mr. Francois Tardy, Montreal, Canada:

When we want YOUR opinion we'll ask for it. I guess when you get a serious disease you won't be pooling your cash so you can come down to "the 48" for care because you don't have time enough to wait in line in Canada. If I wanted the kind of health care you enjoy, I'd move to Canada and learn to speak whatever language you speak up there!

    33. Daniel, from Minneso says:

I voted for Obama because I thought (and still think)that the medical system needs something, though I don't know exactly what. From what I can see, he allowed Congress to craft multiple plans that aren't worth a nickel when added together. President Obama tells us every chance he gets that we can keep our doctor and our insurance if we want… Ok, I'll bite… I happen to be a temp worker- one of those that goes where needed, when needed, for whatever money the temp company pays. My temp company offers insurance, as did the company I worked with before this one. Both employer-offered plans had a $5000 limit on payout, while costing $20 a week or so. Not so fine, not so dandy, but whatever. When I am working, I have enough money to pay the premium if I choose to have insurance, but if I am in between assignments, I don't. Under the plan in the house, if I don't get coverage somehow, I can be fined up to $1000 (that's the number I saw on line). In addition to having to pay a fine, I would be signed up against my will to a plan I didn't choose, to be paid for with money I don't have if I am not working at the time. If I don't have money for health insurance, I sure don't have money for a fine. Non-payment of fines can mean the chance of incarceration. On top of that, jail is not free, so I would have to go to jail, pay to be in jail, pay a fine, and get health insurance… all with money I don't have. Congress' plan (a.k.a Obamacare) would make a criminal out of me just for minding my own business and not paying for something I didn't have money for or order.

As a side note, I have to wonder how savings are to be wrung out of the "system" when nothing has been mentioned about tort reform. If the government wants to "force" people, do like they do with Social Security- you pay part, the employer pays part. Go to any doctor you want, here at home or abroad, and pay cash up front. When you do your 1040, there could be a schedule for reclaiming medical expenses. The IRS could send it out as a refund to you. This approach is not perfect- it requires people to save money in anticipation of expenses. It also means people need to ask the tough questions about what the doctor is doing and why. I think we could save enough doing this to maybe find something to help the poor- maybe they would have to go to India for care, but at the current rate, we all might have to, so I don't think that's a big sacrifice.

I enjoy the blog and the comments- keep them up! we all are going to be affected by whatever happens, we all need to speak up and be heard.
