• Barney Frank: Public Option is Best Way to Single Payer

President Barack Obama told the American people on June 15th:

What are not legitimate concerns are those being put forward claiming a public option is somehow a Trojan horse for a single-payer system. … So, when you hear the naysayers claim that I’m trying to bring about government-run health care, know this – they are not telling the truth.

President Obama needs to tell his allies in Congress to stop contradicting him on camera. Here is Rep. Barney Frank (D-NY) talking to Single Payer Action on July 27: Single Payer Action:

Why shouldn’t we start with single payer new?

    Barney Frank:

Because we don’t have the votes for it. I wish we did. I think that if we get a good public option it could lead to single payer and that is the best way to reach single payer. Saying you’ll do nothing till you get single payer is a sure way never to get it. … I think the best way we’re going to get single payer, the only way, is to have a public option and demonstrate the strength of its power.

So who’s telling the truth? Frank or Obama? Someone is not being honest with the American people.

Sounds like Frank had his guard down and spilled the truth. Notice how open and accommodating he’s with the interview by Single Payer Action. This group’s mission is “seeking to implement … single payer … medicare for all.” What they’re really demanding is “spread-the-wealth” medicaid. A socialist agenda? You bet! We all need to show Frank and his demagogue colleagues the exit door in 2010.

Is this for real?! A politician telling us that someone else is not telling the truth? Can a politician actually say that with dignity? Isn't there a parody here about the kettle and the pot? Is it no wonder that US citizens have such low regard for our politicians?

    7. John Rosky Andover, says:

Get this guy out of office.

Sorry but anytime this man opens his mouth we all suffer!

The higher taxes and fees this is gonna bring, not to mention the potential loss of the insurance people like is another scheme of "big government". I refuse to die with my heart condition because they tell me so. I think these politicians have watched the movie"Demolition Man" and figures they could bring fantasy to reality and make a profit!

    10. Marilyn Malone, Ariz says:

How can anyone doubt now that the original and future intention of the Democrat Party and President Obama is government control of all health care in the USA, any way they can get it? Be vigilant and fight this, America!

    12. jim sardis,ms says:

neither one has a record of telling the truth.the best thing that could happen for the prosperity of America,is frank not getting re-elected and obama losing in 2012.

    13. CH Colorado says:

I'm in disbelief most days as to what is happening in the United States. Things are happening so fast (by design). We must stop the Democrats and stop them NOW! These people(I am convinced) are going to destroy our society. Where are our "watch dogs"? How can the minimally "credible" news media allow this to happen to our society without a single word (on the nightly news)? The blame can be laid strictly on their shoulders. I can only hope for the logic of the American people to rally against these America destroyers.

    14. Martina, Ilinios says:

They are politicians and they are rather good at it ! They both want power and will stop at nothing to get it!

    15. Bill West, Sarasota, says:

I personally don't think either knows the negative impack this health bill will have on the American people; cost, flexability of coverage, denial of coverage, selective treatment, ie. Not to mention our brightest youth opting not to persue the medical field but other lucurtive ($) carrers.

NO, NO, to this ill thought out piece of bypartisen legislation that the majority of this country has already rejected, For obama to continue pushing his unwanted health care bill is my opinion is his continued step to socialism, a well known disaster.

    16. HairLipWoodChuck-Bea says:

Barney Frank and the truth-that's an oxymoron!!! Kind of like saying Diane Feinstein and "Intelligence" in the same breath. I still remember Barney telling us all that Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae were no threat to the economy, in direct contrast to what OFEO reported, and (paraphrased) to say otherwise was a blatant lie and totally uncalled for! Wow, there's video of it. Just search YouTube.(See also Maxine Waters and Franklin Raines on the same subject on YouTube.)

    17. Steve, Kalifornia says:

And this man is re-elected time & again. When Mr Frank & most of his party are actively seeking the collapse of the United States.

Our founders warned us of "treachery from within", these socialist/marxists in congress need to be at least booted unceremoniuosly out of office on their butts. And, in my opinion, brought up on treason! It's a darn shame there's no penalty for congress critters who violate their oaths of office!

President Lincoln said that "Americans don't have the right to overthrow the government, but the duty to overthrow those who prevert our government'. We have many, many preverts in office & their penalty for destroying our liberties & our rights is continuous re-elections. How ill informed or just plain ignorant the electorate is has become painfully clear.

    19. Lonnie Stepp Tempe, says:

Barney franks, like all politicians who swear to uphold the U.S. CONSTITUTION and fail to follow the Constitution, the Bill of Rights within said document, the Federalist Papers in favor of each amendment or the argument in favor of a given amendment, IE… the Income Tax was argued to, "ONLY HURT THE TOP 5%." The Mayflower Compact, The Magna Charta and English Common Law -before the US Constitution, should be tried and hung for HIGH TREASON.

    20. Nelia, AZ says:

Barney Frank is a cancer, slowly killing all the principles this nation is founded upon. We the people must educate our apathetic members of the truth about Frank and his cohorts, and vote them out of office. It's time to take our nation back from these miscreants.

    21. Grace, Florida says:

I heard Spector was also promoting a single payer system at his town hall meeting in Philadelphia. Really it's what all these progressives want.

    22. BDean, Texas says:

I suspect that once single-payer is in place that Barney and his pals will continue to carry their insurance benefits as usual. Single-payer for the common people! All men created equal, etc…. well, all the working class people are equal….

    23. snilloc leinad says:

insurrection time,,, too late for booing and voting, the ballot fails us

    24. Dorothy Gavin, Pas. says:

Barney Frank? How did this man get in a seat of power? I am amazed that this little politician has the audacity to show his ignorance so often. It is so hard to be respectful of our governement when we keep putting small brained people like him into office. Most of those now in d.c. are egomaniacs. Pelosi, Dodd, Frank, Rangel, Boxer, Kennedy. They think they have all the cards and are telling the American people they are too dumb to know what is good for them. The people better wake up and throw all these bums out and soon!

    25. Jerry from Chicago says:

In response to C.H. in Colorado, who asks where are our watchdogs? — C.H., the watchdogs have turned into lapdogs, with the exception of Fox News and conservative radio talk shows, the media is still engaged in its slobbering love affair with the Messiah.

Barney Frank, Chris Dodd and Franklin Raines have enriched themselves at the expense of the American people, while ruining the mortgage banking system and creating a financial crisis.

And where is Republican (leadership?) now? What are the plans to retake the House and Senate? We can't play into the hands of our opposition who are determined to turn this Country into a socialist state by not having legitimate programs to restore the economy. The Republicans need to create workable plans to reduce health care costs, reduce the unemployment rate to below 5%, re-establish Homeland Security and restore our commitment to our allies in the Middle East.

We need to start the vetting process now in order to come up with an electable candidate who will champion conservative policies, who has experience as a state governor and who doesn't have a closet full of skeletons.

    26. Rosenlundkv says:

Frank shows that it is my way or the high way. When all of the smoke clears we are still left with the fact that this is a power grap, using a watered down bill as a stalking horse is the next option out of Frank but again it is not what is needed but more importanly what is wanted.

    27. Ed Fresquez says:

Barney Frank, are you willing to give up your personal healthcare insurance and replace it with the one the obama is pushing for? Will you democrates in the Senate be required to take part in the government healthcare? You guys are trying to push so many socialistic issues through that you can't keep your stories straight. Come 2010 and will put you guys under, we need reps in the Senate and get you career guys out, go out and get a real job, a job that will not allow all your flunkies to do your job for you.

    28. EDriver California says:

We the American People need to TAKE ACTION and vote these clowns out of office in 2010 THey have no respect for their constitutents They think they can jam this stuff down our throat. ENOUGH TAKE ACTION !!!!!!!

    32. Bobbie Jay says:

That's right! Barney doesn't want to scrap the plan. He's got alot of clout coming from it. What's wrong with freedom and independence, Clown Barney?

The clowns in Washington aren't funny anymore. We, the people need to take back our country under the constitution it was founded upon.

I do believe this is deliberately happening, as this will ensure Obama's unnecessary, but high paid, neighborhood task force.

I wonder how he's training them?

    34. John, Limon, Colorad says:

This whole problem started when laws were passed to force hospitals to treat people who can't or won't pay. Government made it illegal to say, "Sorry, we're not going to treat you."

These laws shifted cost for people who can't/won't pay to people who could, and started a vicious upward price spiral. Without insurance, no one can afford hospitalization, and some even with insurance go broke in spite of it.

Now we are poised for enslavement under Obamacare, and the minimum eventual effect will be the same initial, "Sorry, we're not going to treat you."

The maximal eventual effect will very likely be something like the German Euthanasia Program, started in the 1920's, hyperinflation ravaged Germany.

    35. Dennis A. Social Cir says:

The truth hurts, people wake up and smell the BS that is being thrown in our face.

    36. TIM says:

I wonder at what point we can start considering Congress "domestic enemies" and throw them out on their arse?

Maybe it's time for the individual States to have a "Declaration of Independence" for themselves a la our Founding Fathers. If they could tell King George to "shove it" why can't we tell our elected officials the same for acting incongruently with the U.S. Constitution?
