  • Global Leaders Agree on Temperature Cap

Leaders of eight industrialized nations met last week in Italy to discuss a number of critical issues, including climate change, and in what British Prime Minister Gordon Brown called a “historic agreement,” the G8 agreed that “average global temperatures shouldn’t increase by more than 2 degrees Celsius[,] in a significant new acknowledgment in the fight against global warming.”

So, the G8 reached an agreement on global temperatures. A certain amount of pretentiousness lingers from this statement. As if it’s something they can really control – limiting global temperatures increases to only a two degrees C is well within their scope of power.

To reach this limit, global leaders want to cap carbon dioxide emissions, which would have devastating effects on economies reliant on fossil fuels, such as our own. Since 85 percent of America’s energy needs come from fossil fuels, cap and trade would be a massive tax on energy consumption if enacted.

The Heritage Foundation’s Center for Data Analysis found that by 2035, gasoline prices would increase 58 percent, natural gas prices would increase 55 percent, home heating oil would increase 56 percent, and worst of all, electricity prices would jump 90 percent.

But the direct tax on household energy use is just the beginning. The energy tax also hits producers. As the higher production costs ripple through the economy, the household pocketbooks get hit again and again. When all the tax impacts have been added up, the average per-family-of-four costs rise by $2,979 per year. In the year 2035 alone, the cost is $4,609. And the costs per family for the whole energy tax aggregated from 2012 to 2035 are $71,493.

Of course, even if the G8 decides to reduce carbon dioxide, convincing some of the world’s biggest carbon emitters (such as developing nations India and China) will be no easy task. Understanding the trade-off between economic growth and reduced carbon emissions, they will be unwilling to curb carbon emissions, especially when they have more pressing environmental issues.

Who knows? The temperature cap could happen regardless of a carbon capping program. June, “saw another — albeit small — drop in the global average temperature anomaly, from +0.04 deg. C in May to 0.00 deg. C in June, with the coolest anomaly (-0.03 deg. C) in the Tropics. The decadal temperature trend for the period December 1978 through June 2009 remains at +0.13 deg. C per decade”

Of course the increases will be on the inflated dollar, so 58% will be 700% in today's dollars.

(Or more, if Obama has more trillions printed.)

Hey America, time to bend over and kiss our sovereignty goodbye. (sorry, that probably isn't Mom approved language.)

P.S. I bet Obama didn't walk to the G8 and nobody else did either. The elite never do…

    2. Andrew, Michigan says:

Trying to control something that is not controllable, what about reducing our use of plastics derived from petroleum and going back to glass with some products?

With the latest accord at G8 what happens if other countries blatently ignore the "recognized efforts"? Are sanctions in order? I think not as we already know who the violators will be! This is a false diplomatic game with no enforcable actions towards a false desired outcome! I ask what is really going on behind the scenes as I smell a fish?

    3. Barb -mn says:

There will never be a sufficient amount of evidence to prove man makes global warming! NEVER! WEATHER IS CREATED BY NATURE! WHICH MANKIND IS ALSO CREATED BY! More admittance of government not accepting reality! Or lacks the mentality to grasp!

    4. Dave Hiltbrand, Wath says:

I'm not sure if it is comforting or terrifying that the leaders of seven other industrialized nations agree with our narcissistic leader and exhibit such ignorant arrogance to believe that they can control the temperature of the earth.

    5. Recruiter, CT says:

They are all fools and any American that believes this sham needs to have their head examined too. Man has never been able to control the climate or temperature, but Al Gore has parlayed $3M into over $100M perpetrating this giant hoax. Wake up America!! If Cap and Tax passes be prepared to be POOR. This tax will further Bankrupt America, and you can kiss another one of our Freedoms goodbye. We are in serious trouble here.

    6. Ben C, Ann Arbor, MI says:

It appears that climate deception is universal. Perhaps the G8 leaders will see what they can do to control solar cycles – the real cause of climate variation. How about a giant umbrella over earth to protect us from solar flares. Look at all of the jobs it will create and the net result of universal climate control. But then, who will be pushing the buttons?

    7. Lynn B. DeSpain says:

Somebody better explain it to the Sun!

I can see it now. Global temperatures will not increase by more than two degrees, because the earth is cooling. At some point the egg heads will crow,"Look what we did. We stopped global warming!"

    10. Roger S., MA. says:

How to measure chaotic systems? Add more chaos until at some level of sampling they cancel into apparent "perfect" randomness? Only nobody will be left to tell? Do terrestrial "black holes" have "accretion discs" just like the ones in distant galaxies? Probably. Look for these to find the money they stole from you. Although getting it back will be a problem, at least you'll know where it went!

Lots of rhetoric here. Many patriots also.

How do we even get a fair election to make changes ?

Obama has paid for votes with money from the Treasury. Do we really have recourse. Can we move out a tyrant who is a solialistic Idelog ?

The laws that make us different are being ignored. The Constitution is not being followed and they ignore the part of The Delaration of Independence that we can change our form of Goverment if it becomes oppressive.

There are many very anxiety ridden Americans many are older and just holding on.

We must vote as Americans, both parties are part and parcel of this problem. Register Independent and let them not take our votes for granted.

Ther must be a way to have our voices heard !
