The Truth of Obama’s Trojan Horse

The Wall Street Journal reports today:

The reason left-flank Democrats are so adamant about a public option is because they know it is an opening wedge for the government to dominate U.S. health care. That’s also why the health-care industry, business groups, some moderates and most Republicans are opposed. Team Obama likes the policies of the first group but wants the political support of the second. And they’re trying to solve this Newtonian problem — irresistible forces, immovable objects — by becoming less and less candid about the changes they really favor.

A rhetorical gong Mr. Obama has been banging a lot lately is the idea that the people pointing all this out are liars. ‘When you hear the naysayers claim that I’m trying to bring about government-run health care,’ he said in one speech, ‘know this: They’re not telling the truth.’ He adds that opposition to a public option isn’t ‘based on any evidence’ and that it is ‘illegitimate’ to argue that his program is ‘is somehow a Trojan horse for a single-payer system.’

So much for changing the political tone. Perhaps the President should check in with his more honest liberal allies. Jacob Hacker, now a professor of political science at Berkeley, came up with the intellectual architecture for the public option when he was a graduate student in the 1990s. ‘Someone once said to me, “This is a Trojan horse for single payer,” and I said, “Well, it’s not a Trojan horse, right? It’s just right there,”‘ Mr. Hacker explained in a speech last year. ‘I’m telling you, we’re going to get there, over time, slowly.’”

The WSJ is 100% correct: the public option is a Trojan Horse for single-payer health care. We are very familiar with Hacker’s stealth plan for single-payer and are well aware that President Obama has adopted it.

Don’t believe us?

Here is the Washington Post’s blogger Ezra Klein admitting the exact same thing: “They have a sneaky strategy the point of which is to put in place something that over time the natural incentives within its own market will move it to single payer.”

Here is New York Times columnist Paul Krugman admitting the same thing: “…the only reason not to do [single-payer] is that politically it’s hard to do in one step…You’d have to convince people to completely give up the insurance they have, whereas something that let’s people keep the insurance they have but then offers the option of a public plan, that may evolve into single-payer, but you can do it politically…”

The public option is is single-payer health care by stealth. It is time the President was honest with the American people and admitted it.

Liberal know-it-alls have always been contemptuous of the American people. Theirs is an egocentric sociopathy unique to both leftist and criminal con-artist alike. Who else would play bait and switch behind the back of the American public? How about a Messiah from the shadows of Chicago’s powerhouse politics.

That’s Obama’s Saul Alinsky doublespeak for you. It’s so ingrained in his being perhaps he doesn’t recognize he’s doublespeaking (also known as lying.)

But more important: this part really is the focal point for me: “He adds that opposition to a public option isn’t ‘based on any evidence.’”

UK’s & Canada’s lack of innovation, poor quality & rationed care is not evidence? Hundreds of years of evidence that support that innovations flourish in free markets while efforts by centrally-controlled governments are complete failures? That gov-run Medicare/Medicaid are among the most poorly run agencies in the gov? That gov/private monopolies like Fannie & Freddie are likewise dangerously run?

These truths can’t be entered as evidence in the court of ObamaDebate? These somehow are not valuable precedents available for examination?

And where, pray-tell, is the evidence that Governments are better innovators, better at driving down costs while increasing quality? Is there any precedent for that!

I agree with Obama’s insinuated claim: Let’s use evidence!

Is there ANYONE in the media calling Obama & Congres out on — not their policies, or even their double speak — but their false intellectual superiority?

False because they position their reasoning as that of being ‘rational’ & ‘evidence-based’ yet they deny all obvious evidence offered by others and offer no evidence or precedent themselves. They provide only the feel-good faith of “doing something” for their cause?

When will the media ask the Administration and Congress “what precedents do you look to that give you confidence this is the right path to take?”

If the Feral Government ramming ‘change’ down American’s throats doesn’t meet most any definition of “government managed”, we need to send Obama a new dictionary (or an good old one.)
We can’t afford insurance now. Add 15 layers of government and lower the cost? Then add thousands in direct and indirect cap-n trade taxes and having to bring the kids home, for home-schooling and hyper-inflation (coming ’round the corner)…
We may all run for Congress and be set for life!

July 10, 2009 Dave O, VA writes:

What’s happened to the Left in this country? Used to be the Left was about personal freedom and small government. Man, how things have changed. Think it could be from the brainwashing by schools, colleges and media?

Now the Left thinks the only solutions come from government. They are quick to turn over their freedoms to the very government they used to mistrust. They have demonized the corporations (insurance companies). Hey Left, corporations are us; they are extensions of individuals. Either people have power or the government has it. Don’t turn our freedom on health care issues over to the government.

Health insurance should be solved in a manner similar to other forms of insurance (life, car, home). 1) Establish government rules for coverage, fairness, corporate financial stability and affordability for varied income levels then, 2) turn it over to the insurance companies to figure out how to make it happen and compete for our business. They’re bright people, they’ll figure it out.

Get health care insurance out of the employers’ domain and put it in the hands of the public. We’ll shop around as we do our other insurances. Take the government as a health insurance provider/payer totally out of the equation. Think of all the local, county, state and federal taxes that wouldn’t have to be collected to pay for others’ health care. Huge chunks of governments’ budgets could be axed. Health plans would thrive or fail based on our ability to walk away.

Put the challenge on the people and stop thinking of the government as the solution to problems. Tell us what needs to be done and we’ll figure out the how. That should be government’s role.

July 10, 2009 Dave O, VA writes:

Of course, what I wrote previously or any other solution that gives people the power won’t ever happen.

It’s not about people power, effectiveness, efficiencies, comprehensive coverage, etc.

It’s about the federal government’s ability to control through authority and money.

That’s the bottom line.

Buy your durable goods now. They’ll cost you twice as much in about 3 years. I haven’t had a car payment in over a year, but I am seriously considering buying 2 right now. It seems almost contradictory to rational thought, but the way inflation works, your big ticket items - especially those built in the US - will be affected the most . . . (Business taxes are passed onto you - the consumer, energy taxes are passed onto you - the consumer, you get the idea.) Go to cars.gov to see if you qualify for the “Cash for clunkers” tax credit.

I’m sure this government run health care idea will work great ! Just look at our public school system. We pay more per pupil than any other country in the world and what are the results ? I think we have dropped out of the top 25 . . . .
Let’s project that onto health care . . - High costs and dismal results . . . .
VOTE OUT ALL INCUMBENTS IN 2010 AND LET THEM KNOW YOUR DISPLEASURE - NOW !!

One step closer to Obama’s dream of socialistic America!
Not on the point, but…
Has anyone even noticed or challenged why the President’s family traveled with him on our tax dollars to G8 Meetings? How much did that cost us?
It was obviuos they were not invited… and very classless of him to take the First Family. I did not vote for him or his family into office, and walking and parading throught Europe with him was very un-professional. Now they are going to Africa for a family visit on my dollars!

The only good news from the conservative side is when this medical bill passes, every American is watching and voting in 2010! I just hope it is not too late.

July 10, 2009 Charles-Odessa, Texas writes:

What Obama says and what shows in the bills that nobody has read in total are not in phase. He should give himself time to read the bill and time for the public to see what is there. The lobbyist, unions, and company hacks who write these bills are not in the public interest nor are the responsible. The do it backwards. In your budget-you know what monies are available and then your needs and then your wants. Obama speak is Dream what you want, your needs are covered, and to hell with the cost. That is the short term answer.

As is evident by the controlling of the media, seripititiuos as it may be. His press secretary constantly putting a different spin on bad situations, usually starting with “What they meant to say was….” Like I have said since Obaaaama was elected, “The great unifier is neither.”
When all is said and done there will be allot of people going to prison instead of returning to politics.(The very same ones that refuse to read the bills they are forcing upon the American Citizens, and turning a DEAF EAR to their constituents voices.) They are ALL duplicitous in the destruction of this economy and of this country we LOVE and RESPECT AMERICA.

One observation; too many of them seem to reside in Washington, D.C. seeking and hell-bent on robbing the American people of the opportunity to seek our own individual life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness unfedered by government.

I read somewhere that when 50% or more of the people learn that they can petition government, and government will acquease to their wishes, that its all over for that country. I don’t believe that! However, we have to do something drastic fairly quickly before Obuma & Co. totally ruin America! My suggestion: And it will work and is possible. SECESSION Work hard on your states legislatures to Secede from the union. ( no benefits, and lots of drawbacks in continuing to be a part of the union! All federal property of every type becomes state property, ( real estate, money everything ) The savings in taxes would be more than enough to cover social security and medicare payments, with $ left over!
