I don't understand the deeply rooted anti-government rhetoric that is often left in comment sections. Government regulation uses the "benefit of the people" as the decision criteria. Our current system relies on "who has the dollars" to make healthcare decisions. As a consumer, our costs are inflated by insurance companies who, make no mistake, are driven by profit. They make that profit as the key middle man--taking transactional costs one every side. The government can be a payer, like anybody else. And if they are able to negotiate better deals because of size, then shouldn't that be a valid option? If we are truly a "free market" loving nation, how can we exclude the governement from playing in the market?

What scares me is the fact that Obama's public health care policy questions whether parents can make a good decision for their family: can we trust them to make good health care decisions? This questioning is ridiculous...and it is happening on several fronts.

I don't know how many of you heard about this, but Obama is also seeking to ratify the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). This treaty in theory protects and preserves children's rights, but in practice has only led to teen violence (check out Sweden), increased child substance abuse (check out the Netherlands), and a restriction on school choice (check out Britain).

Government control - instead of family control - helps our health care system improve? I think not. For more info, check out www.parentalrights.org, or also at my blog for primary source documentation: http://narnianinsurgency.blogspot.com

Well, if that doesn't say it all. Thank you to the author, Marguerite Higgins and Thank you, Mr. Moffit.

We the people believe in freedom, liberty and independence. That means limited government.
REDUCE ALL AREAS OF GOVERNMENT.

The premise is not correct. President Obama believes government is the solution. If one believes government is the solution then they must gain control of as many aspects of our economy and personal lives as possible.

Health care uses 20% of our GNP and that is a very large segment of both our economy and private lives. 100% of every man woman and child in this country will use health care before they die.

Mr. Obama has gained more control of the private economic sector in six months than any president before him. Our president is perhaps the most successful president in history at implementing his polices.
