  • A Picture Perfect Double Standard

    ABC News, May 5, 2009:

The White House is keeping a tight grip on photos from last week’s botched Air Force One promotional photo op over Lower Manhattan.

At a press briefing Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs dodged reporters’ questions about last week’s photo-op, which cost over $328,000 in taxpayer dollars and frightened a broad swath of lower Manhattan, site of the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center towers.

    Chicago Tribune, April 24, 2009:

The Obama administration agreed late Thursday to release dozens of photographs depicting alleged abuse by U.S. personnel during the Bush administration of prisoners in Iraq and Afghanistan.

At least 44 pictures will be released by May 28, making public for the first time images of what the military investigated at facilities other than the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.

      Nice Catch on this!!

This is a terrible double standard. Not releasing the Air Force One photos is arrogant. Taxpayers paid for them!

Releasing the other photos will only enrage opposition to the United States and further endager our troops and citizens is a horrible decision. It will not impact our enemies view of the US as a 'bully.'

This will only extend the war on terror.

    2. Jamey, Central Calif says:

(no response due to extreme apathy due to Americans apathy and lack of action to the actions of the obama administration)

    3. ozzy6900 says:

The Left loves to "expose" everything, no matter who is hurt by it! They have an agenda and part of that agenda is to belittle the Armed Forces and the Country. It's part of the "rebuilding" process that President Obama has in his plans. Embarrass the hell out of the Country and apologize to the World for our sins!

    4. Spiritof76, New Hamp says:

Obama is not behaving as the president of this great country. He is behaving more like Hugo Chavez.

    5. Sandy, IL says:

I heard they will release a photo of the fly-over. But you can bet, they won't release EVERY photo. Something strange was going on and they aren't going to tell us what was the actual mission. Have they declasified the material to substaintate what was learned through these so called torture techniques? Also have they declasified the minutes of the meetings where Congress was made aware of the methods? I sure haven't heard if they have. My guess is, they won't. Thus the American public will be left with the methods used and the photos. This is crazy!

    6. Grace, Florida says:

Please people don't be surprised by this. The Dems always live by the double standard.

    7. Jeanne Stotler, wood says:

It's the old "Do as I say not as I do" thing, Obama needs to stop running for reelection and sucking up to Chavez and Co. and run this country and tell Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid that He is the President not them.

    8. Bill, TN says:

Tempest in a teapot. The more we worry over these little things the more time our President has to carry out the "big" moves. Elections do have consequences. Remember he told us he had a new vision of America? Look at what he has engendered in only 100 days. Think what the 1000 day celebration will reveal.

    9. Charles-Odessa, Texa says:

Just what many of us expected of the junior senator. Give a junior a little clout with a credit card and he bangs everything and everybody to the hilt.

Someday, hopefully in the near future, he will hear the voice of America and do his first thing right for the country rather than his ego. He is still campaigning for the new post of "World President" running on the neighborhood activist party.

    10. Tom Iowa says:

VOTE . VOT. VOTE. Congresional elections are coming our way. It is time to really clean house. Three and a half years and we can get rid of B rack , if we are still around…

    11. Chris, Oklahoma City says:

The idea here is to make as many Dems as mad as they can so the Democratic Congressional majority can start making radical and irreversible changes in law.

    12. PAT MITCHELL, GROTON says:

All I want to is know is WHO was on the plane? they are probably too ashamed to tell us. We can only guess.

    13. duelles, santa fe, n says:

This Administration talked the promises of a transparent, ethical, cost efficient, populist. All Lies. He [BHO]could never have gone over line by line each item in the budget. 1- no one reads it. 2- he does not have a line item veto and never asked for one.

He is willing to inject himself and his toadies into all our lives without being part of the process himself.

The minions in congress are no better. These "friends" of America are co enablers of this man who is only trying to ruin America with embarrassments and apologies.

All of the above comments touch on BHO's unqualified arrogance and disregard for our highest office. I do hope that the Chrysler bond holders sue his butt off.

2010 elections. If we throw them out of office I might gloat.

As a veteran, I hope they let me keep my vote!

    14. Dennis A. Social Cir says:

This is normal for obama, he said he was not aware of the plan for the photos, funny, but he is willing to destry the CIA and waht they do. Each day he is more and more a socialist.

    15. Thomas, USA says:

I am very outspoken of the left and their agenda, but this is getting to be an American problem having this man as President. How could anyone actually go along with what he is doing? We (the people I will assume) are going to show pics of torture, as some say, to the world so he can apologize to the world for us the American people, again, for something that should not be shown in the interest of national security. This guy raises hell about his muslim friends being incarcerated and tortured (ha ha ha), yet has the audacity to spend every amount of monies he can borrow to pay back each and every crook that got him there. Pathetic human being.

    16. Lynn B. DeSpain says:

Not an unusual thing for a Shiek to do, is it? Especially a Tali Ban brother. Saves the Enemy money, now they can have the photos for FREE.

      Hozro

    17. Hope Rodriguez,Holla says:

The only good thing about Democrats,is the fact that guarantees they always stab each other in the back, especially when they are running scared.More of us need to speak out while we can.

    18. peter, new hampshire says:

Why can we not know who was on the plane and what the results were. How does he get away with this!! I am afraid that the American people are getting just what they voted for! Too bad for those of us who did not vote for him, and for the future of our Country!!

    19. Roger from Texas says:

BHO is beholden to our enemies because he is one himself. What other reason would he have to release the photos. All he wants to do is tear our country down so he can place himself as our Hugo Chavez, who could have been the one flying AF one.

    20. Wayne Holbrook, Flor says:

I have said this over and over, and know that it is a waste of time, but I will say it again. "Enhanced interrogation" does not even come close to torture. My son, a member of the Special Forces underwent the full gamut, as did all the members of his unit. Top Gun pilots, and, as I understand it, all military pilots went through it.

The scum who claim they were tortured should be thankful. Reverse the nationality of the captives and the captors, and their heads would be cut off.

    21. Kdaniels Florida says:

The Obama supporters should open their eyes and see how Obama and his administration regard them as gullible and stupid. When they started getting bad press on this, people running for their lives as they feared another 911, to the cost and waste of taxpayers money, Obama and his administration knew the way out when they planned the event… Just claim we did know about it, but we will initiate an investigation. They think the American people are so gullible and/or stupid they will accept Obama's know nothing explanation. And apparently they were right.

    22. C Hyatt, Albuquerque says:

We are asking the wrong question. People are focused on the cost and the event. What we should be asking is "who was on the airplane". That would give us the answers we are looking for. The American tax payer who footed this flight should have the names of everyone on board this flight. Try finding that out. Good Luck.

    23. Kathy , New Haven says:

Why is anybody surprised, the dems have been using the double standard for years. America is a great country,it is built on the belief that WE THE PEOPLE will do the right thing, our voices must grow until they can no longer can be ignored.

    24. Barb -mn says:

Roger from Texas you are so right.

Whoever took the fall for this air force one did it in the name of obama. the president was probably on it. Where was he when it happened besides to say he didn’t know?
PICTURES IS NOT WHAT WE PAY FOR! GIVE US OUR MONEY BACK!

    25. Claude Cornell says:

Something to watch for. Starting about the end of this year, you will see the Dumber-crats in Congress begin to migrate to the middle of the road in preparation for next year's election.

Then afterwards they will move back to the far-left. Happens every 4 years. It's called the political migration of the idiots. But don't be surprised by the number of voters who won't even notice. Bottom-line……If this thing doesn't begin to turn around by next years's election, this country is toast.
