Governors have become little more than federal administrators. I believe that eventually, if this course continues, our country will be divided into federal districts or provinces, perhaps three or four each of which will be administered by a bureaucrat from DC. Fifty states are too unwieldy for the socialists. It's like dealing with the Mob: When they do you a "favor" by lending you money, they own you!
Bravo to those states who fight the DC Mob and turn the money down. This mob of bureaucrats is little more than thieves who use the constitution to rob us.

Article 5 can be invoked for only one Amendment as specified. Not necessarily the entire contitution. The amendments can be targeted. The Senate will have to amend the Constitution for that issue.

I, too, am concerned over what might happen in a general constitutional convention, given the general lack of wisdom in our people (witness the last election). We need to focus on repeal of the amendments that have gotten us into this fix. Still, there is plenty to work with now, starting with a renewed interest in the judges that are picked for the federal bench, election of state governors who will push the envelope to defend the rights of their states and who are not afraid to say "no thanks" and, finally, as my earlier posts have highlighted, renewed interest in self reliance and community responsibility. We'll have to grow some thick skins, as the statists accuse us of being heartless and racist, but the truth will come out. It's the true conservatives who have hearts and are genuinely interested in people solving their problems, as demonstrated by the disparity between charitable contributions of conservatives vs. the paltry sums contributed by statists (even when adjusted for income levels of the donors).

In order to get our rights back from the beltway monarchy, whose first king was ironically King George Bush I, we must begin locally; our city governments, churches, schools, courts, synagogues, Mosques (the ones interested in the American way of life), and charitable organizations must focus on the specific fundamental needs of the AREA. Infrastructure, and community businesses; local wealth is the best wealth; funneling too many tax dollars to Washington, to then be broadcast as they see fit is ludicrous and does not work. It creates welfare states: why produce if we can get it for free, from those who work? We must also take away the not for profit status of all organizations, including religious organizations, and make them pay a minimal tax; then they will be able to perform their community function, which are spiritual, moral, current events and education: they must be allowed to be political, if the community leaders see our National Electorate going astray then it is their right and duty to bring this to the attention of the masses. Many of these organizations are nothing but financial shelters for bloated lobbyists and federal cronies under their current not for profit status. We the people must continue our protest against the out of control scope and breadth of the Beltway Monarchy, and become responsible for our homes, children, jobs, communities, local authority, and state authority: we cannot afford to abdicate our power to the BELTWAY ELITE.

For those interested in finding out about an Article V Convention, please go to www.foavc.org.

Much of which is discussed here as proposals for amendments already has been proposed by the states. All 50 states have submitted 750 applications for a convention. The texts of these can be read at the website. The states have satisfied the Constitution and Congress is required to call a convention. It has refused to do so which should come as no surprise to anyone given the trend of government cited above.

Just a quick note: Ken Jarvis, if there realy is a Ken Jarvis, writes in this comment page almost daily and his rhetoric is not new. We all have the right to our own opinions, but c'mon, he is just laughable.

What a slap in the face our military over seas must feel when people here are watching Dancing with the Stars and American Idol instead of looking at where our fine country is headed for.

I have been shocked the last two weeks at the complicity of the the newsprint with the Pres. The stupid questions that are asked at press meetings with the Pres.. I see a chicago thug forcing these stupid plans on the public and anyone who disagrees he threaten with the press. I cannot believe the complicity. Then Mr. Carval out there is got to be the dumbest person i have ever heard speak.NO substance to anything he says just the same old crap he has been saying for the last eight years. I really have been hoping that someone would step up from any party and eat the pres. and his stupid policies up and regain some sanity in wash dc

There are two ways to enslave a people; one is with shackles the other is with the nipple of dependency, the latter being more permanent and far more sublime.

Humans are no different than other animals that seek comfort, and what offspring doesn't long for the days of irresponsibility and warmth of mothers comfort?

The federal government has seized upon this weakness in people to enslave, not to inspire and have begun suckling any member of society willing to cease maturing.

In the wild a good mother, knowing her offspring must endure and grow strong to make a healthy herd, kicks away an offspring that holds the tit too long, as true motherhood knows the folly of such dependency and the harm it brings to all.

Our current leaders desire more servants and have found a method to reap the benefits of those that willfully seek prostration to their will, and the kid in us all fears the responsibilities adulthood brings. We are not only regressing but preventing adulthood from being gained or even respected.

Allan Bloom was right, the American mind is closing for sure....and mass surrender to childish dependency is becoming the consequence......
