I must agree that the traditional methods for producing energy would be the best proven least cost method to grow our energy grid. Unfortunately, like it or not, our Nation is leaning green. Wind can and will be a player in the future power grid. Travel the country and you will see these monsters everywhere. Time will only tell how much they continue to expand, and how long our Nation's love affair with green will last. I'll guess 7-10 yrs max.

We all realize than we are in need of alternative energy. It is meerly a question of how we get there. The government studies show it will take 15 years for us to reach a goal of 25% of our energy from wind power...So what are we to do in the meantime while we develop this, not to mention making the infrastructure viable. I don't think there are many that are totally against alternative energy. The concern is more what do we do in the meantime....We must continue to drill for oil, natural gas, and use coal in order to make it to our goals. If we continue importing oil from other countries, we will continue to be enslaved.

Hi, Loretta in Colorado, I was wondering the same thing and with that, how much "energy" it would take to change the energy source at will? How much "time" in between?

This DIGITAL or HIGH DEFINITION reception they've FORCED on us is RIDICULOUS. AND USES MORE ENERGY!!!!!!!! GOVERNMENT HAS CONTROL OF THE RECEPTION AT THEIR FINGERTIPS NOW!

Combine Wind Energy with Hydroelectric. Wind blows at night, use that nighttime generated power to pump the water back into the reservoir for use the following day.
On bad/no wind nights no water is pumped. It becomes a "game" to maintain proper water levels.

This is trivial in any event. We need to turn on the "Domestic Oil Spigot" right now. No one has said it better than Newt Gingrich: Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less.

Cap and Trade is the ultimate goal of the ALGORIAN Scam artists. This must be defeated or we are looking down the years right into a modern "Dark Age" of proportions never imagined.

Going backwards in the technologies of energy and transportation will result in catastrophic displacements in resources. The four horsemen will reign.

In North Central Oregon we have many wind turbines and here are the true facts. The wind blows mainly during the day and increases in the afternoon. We have the Columbia River over 1,000' below where we have the turbines so we can use pump storage for storage of the excess energy to use when it is needed. Whats more when combined with the dams on the Columbia they can store a lot of energy behind the dams when the wind is blowing but first we have to have it all operated together.

The pump storage was first designed when they were going to use it in our area in conjunction with the "Pebble Springs" nuclear power plant as these plants need to be operated at close to the max as possible. Pump storage does not have to be adjacent to the wind turbines either, as it can be used on any transmission line in the same system.

Any generation system has limits and they have been worked out on the older generation systems we just have to put our minds to it. If our forefathers gave up, as many of you have, the West would still be a wilderness and the Indians would be happy.
